Solar Spectrum during total eclipse, Objective Mounted Diffraction Grating, OMD EM5, 150mm, iso200. Taken through aircraft window which caused significant distortion. Helium was first discovered on the Sun from the prominent Helium line indicated. The green Coronal band (label Iron 13) was initially considerecd to represent a new element (Coroninum) but was later identified as Iron thirteen times ionised at 1.5 X10^6 K - establishing the high temperature of the Solar Corona which is still being explained and conjectured about. Isla Rábida’s unusual red beach is a favorite sunbathing spot for sea lions and marine iguanas. Go eye-to-eye with Blue-footed and Nazca Boobies, Yellow Warblers, several species of Darwin’s Finches, and pelicans. The warm maroon-colored beach also makes a great jumping in spot for from-the-beach snorkeling. Or keep your eyes above the waterline, inspecting marine life from the glass-bottom boat. You’ll have a birds-eye view from Isla Santa Cruz hiking Cerro Dragón—or, Dragon Hill—and enjoy a well-earned panorama of the western islands, the bay below you, and possibly even lounging land iguanas.

Fooling around with a flash.

I swapped out the original for an alternate version that's framed tighter.

It's comic book Flash vs. CW Flash, while Captain America looks on.

I used a plate to cut a circle out of the cardboard. Roughly 210mm DIA. I the cut a smaller circle out of the centre to fit my lens through allowing for play.

I Taped a 50mm wall around the outter edge, making sure the wall was firmly placed on the circle cut out.

It was a beautiful day in downtown Bemidji. The sun was shining and people were enjoying Art in Park when a Paul Bunyan walked by. What? A Paul Bunyan? There's another! And three more! They're everywhere, what's going on here?

It was Northern Minnesota's first ever flash mob, courtesy of 90.5 KBXE. On Sunday, July 18th 2010, a group of over 50 people gathered at Diamond Point Park in Bemidji for pizza and planning. Then the group set off for the Lake Bemidji Waterfront, dressed in red and black flannel shirts, blue jeans (rolled up of course), a painted mustache and a dark knit cap. The group slowly trickled through Art in the Park, turning a lot of heads and getting even more smiles. The Mobbers then drifted to the Paul and Babe statue, where they froze one at a time. What started as a couple of frozen Paul Bunyan's grew into dozens and people stopped to watch and take pictures while passing cars honked their horns.

I set up an sb-600 for the backlight, and an old minolta flash for the main. The main was shot through a pringles snoot. I can see all of my chip dust on the white. I should get my camera sensor cleaned sometime.

Strobist info: the off camera flash was to frame left. It was set at 1/16 power and zoomed to 35mm. I used the ring flash to fill.
