New light stand, flash bracket and umbrella. I have the black backing off of the umbrella for shooting through it. The squirrel on the floor did not come with the kit. Neither did the texting teenager. The cat is on the back of the couch getting ready for the photoshoot.

Helium was first discovered on the Sun from the prominent Helium line indicated. The green Coronal band (label Iron 13) was initially considerecd to represent a new element (Coroninum) but was later identified as Iron thirteen times ionised at 1.5 X10^6 K - establishing the high temperature of the Solar Corona which is still being explained and conjectured about. Corgi, Flash was a shy guy and took a lot of persuasion to accept me (and my camera) and pose. I just knew as soon as i saw him how photogenic he'd be though.... and the little guy didn't disappoint.

Without flash, the subject doesn't show up as well, but the background is much fuller. Sometimes, this can be a good thing.
Fooling around with a flash.
I swapped out the original for an alternate version that's framed tighter.
Exasperating my dog by taking my new toy outside. I had tried to use fill flash before outside, with the little build in flash, and every single time Ouzo ended up with crazy eyes.
It's not too obvious, but you can tell the difference from the shot below, taken without flash.
More practice with new 430EX flash in very dark hallway. Bounced from above.

This little BHF is the older model with the metal film advance knob and the glass lens. Even got a bulb along with the flash!
Testing a ring flash I bought second hand. Unfortunately it didn't fire with the camera so I had to fire it manually with long shutter speed. Cool but not really useful.

It was a beautiful day in downtown Bemidji. The sun was shining and people were enjoying Art in Park when a Paul Bunyan walked by. What? A Paul Bunyan? There's another! And three more! They're everywhere, what's going on here?
It was Northern Minnesota's first ever flash mob, courtesy of 90.5 KBXE. On Sunday, July 18th 2010, a group of over 50 people gathered at Diamond Point Park in Bemidji for pizza and planning. Then the group set off for the Lake Bemidji Waterfront, dressed in red and black flannel shirts, blue jeans (rolled up of course), a painted mustache and a dark knit cap. The group slowly trickled through Art in the Park, turning a lot of heads and getting even more smiles. The Mobbers then drifted to the Paul and Babe statue, where they froze one at a time. What started as a couple of frozen Paul Bunyan's grew into dozens and people stopped to watch and take pictures while passing cars honked their horns.
