Réalisé en temps limité à l'aide d'un seul flash

May 2014.

By Michael Arnzen www.gorelets.com.

Made this somewhat cheesy icon as an avatar/headline image for websites related to my Summer 2014 writing class online at Seton Hill U called "Genre Fiction in a Flash". See it in action in the class group on soundcloud here: soundcloud.com/groups/el231-flash-fiction-summer-2014

Process: Shot of book stack --> overlays and color filters added in FX PhotoStudio app.

Trying out the flash on this camera - seems ok.

Flash firing on 2nd curtain while KP spinning...

This was an experiment after I was testing what would happen if I was moving while firing flash on 2nd curtain on a 'long' exposure...interested in comments about the technique and outcome not the image itself.

A quick exercise in off-camera lighting with my trusty Victorinox.

Good beer pong distraction!

A quick shot of my flash units from left to right: Vivitar 285HV Zoom Thyristor, Vivitar Thyristor 285 and Sunpak 433D or B3600D. Vivitars were triggered using PT-04 and an optical slave for sunpak.... using white reflector at camera left and top to bounce back some lights....

It got a little floody in town today.

My first experience using a strobe/flash in a studio setting... really my first experience using anything other than an on camera flash. This photo was taken during the Indy Photo Coach "Beyond the Fundamentals" class. Great class to help push you out of your comfort zone!

these are the words my photography group chose at random, we are choosing a line each to use as the basis of some 'flash fiction'.

We will be writing the story incorperating the words and then illustrating it with photographs which we hope to exhibit in a joint exhibition later on in the year.

CIRANDA

MARCIO FARACO

Se tento correr o tempo pára

Se páro pra ver o mundo anda

Ele vem bater na minha cara

A vida é sempre essa ciranda

Se a noite me traz uma tristeza

O dia vem cheio de alegria

O que falo agora com certeza

Há pouco não sei se eu diria

Eu quero gritar ninguém me escuta

Está tudo preso na garganta

Às vezes me cansa tanta luta

E é pra não chorar que a gente canta

A gente canta

A gente canta

Eu vi uma luz no fim do túnel

Enchi de esperança o coração

A luz que lá estava foi chegando

Era um trem carregado de ilusão

Andando só na corda bamba

Não temo o futuro da nação

A gente que sempre dançou samba

Enfrenta qualquer divisão

A gente canta

A gente canta

The beamed flash was clearly unsettling the adult birds near the nest - which is under the roof tile that the adult bird is taking off from.

So plan B was to rachet up the ISO as far as sensible, underexpose and contrive to gain a fast enough shutter speed for flight images. The settings in all respects, 'in the zone', but only just on a dull morning.

Apologies for lack of tripod - I was travelling light.
