There would have been some excellent flashing on the pots if I had reached temperature. This was mainly due to stacking tightly. I could see the flames really wrapping around the pots. I'm not sure what I want to do with these double bisqued pots. Maybe I'll get the energy to woodfire them in a rebuilt kiln next year. This endeavor cost me too much time, labor, and cash for these meager results. They would have looked awesome glazed in shino and fired in the gas kiln. I could probably still gas fire these now. It would be interesting to see what happens to the shino with the deposited oxides and fluxes.
Canon powershot a1200 with no flash in dimly lit room. Bit of noise noticeable. Though to be fair, it was darker than the picture looks.
Camera set to full auto., but flash turned off.

I am exaggerating the lighting conditions with my flash on those two ducks. This is taken in winter, by the way, minus 5 degrees Centigrade.
Bouncing a flash off ceilings is a great way to get soft light, except that you need something to illuminate the eyes also. I didn't get that here, but it's still rather nice. Madison, Wisconsin, 1991. Pentax 6x7, Fujichrome Velvia transparency film.
I heard last night that a good friend of mine has been moved to intensive care. He's been living with and fighting cancer for many years but has been particularly ill this last month.
My eyes are closed in this photo because I have been trying out the flash on my new camera. I was getting quite dazzled by the anti-redeye flickering at such close quarters so decided I'd close my eyes. I'm not keen on flash but this one seems to behave quite well - I may start using it more often.
This was just supposed to be a lighting test. I was comparing the effect of a flash-mounted bounce card vs wall bounce (with on-camera flash!). This is the bounce card image. My subject liked the way it outlined his chin.

Il luogo del ricordo svanisce al primo istante del flash back,

nei ricordi di occasioni mancate.
Il bianco apparire, nel rituale cammino quotidiano,
si colma di valori che vibrano colmando
ciò che appena rammento, dei segreti rifugiati tra l’asfalto,
gli amici incrociati, perduti o coltivati, i dolori spariti
e le gioie che di quando in quando tornano a sostenere inverni.
Così il luogo diviene nel ricordo,
poiché è la mia persona inesprimibile a dargli identità.
Se solo potessi
ne imprigionerei i resti sulle trame della tela.
