Model by Editions Atlas in 1:43 scale. The model is diecast and is delivered assembled, painted and with decals in place.
I cleaned up some flash, detail-painted a bit and finally shaded, highlighted and weathered the model with pastels to give it a more worn look before photographing it.
The figure is from Preiser and the ruin in the background was made with casting from molds from Hirst Arts.
What even is that one? Is that the Merode Altarpiece? No, now that I think of it, it's a different one.
EDIT: It's the Ghent Altarpiece. A+++ for me. :)
Flash durations for an ancient garden-variety thyristor flash, and, for comparison, the Pentax K100D's internal flash. Durations measured by the scope at the 20% of peak amplitude points.
strobist info : one yn 560 with a DIY cereal box snoot behind camera at 15 degree to the left at 1/8th from above and one yn 465 (in frame) at 1/16th behind subject with cereal box gobos
Taken out the window of my house on Hallow'een. My favourite personal shot and quite a lucky one too! Cropped slightly for effect.
The building blocks for my flash power mod:
One battery charger adapter cable and a random plastic part thats main shaft just happened to be the same size as an AA battery!
The charger has a 3.5mm mono plug for some reason and this adapter allows it to connect directly to the battery terminals which are the spade lug style. I had hoped to use the charger as a direct power source but for some reason it took more than 10sec's to recharge the flash (I turned it off after that time thinking something wasn't right, although it had charged it initially and fired ok).
Extra Strobist: Shot in my cheapo Strobist macro studio with an SB800 firing through the top/right @ 1/8 -2/3 power.
This is a Ruger Redhawk chambered in .44 Magnum. The Muzzle flash was so big that you can't see the gun! Not photoshopped.
i REALLY hate having my photo taken with flash... just so you know...
i'm really pleased with how this cake turned out. it was supposed to be a green and gold lotus inspired wedding cake with a big sugar lotus flower on top and a lotus bulb and flower design hand painted on the side with edible gold, but i was informed that we needed more children's display cakes, so i changed it to this. notice i have no pink on the cake? the pink colouring that i use fades when exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time! lets just say it's a mistake i won't make twice.

I used my SB600 on a tripod with the homemade softbox to backlight the flower. The flower is in my garden but with the flash overpowering everything you only see a black background.
This was at night so that wasn't too hard...
360 joules is the standard energy level for cardiac resusitation. Trained operators can up the energy level from the defribulator on subsequent attempts. This was an attemp too far! ...Just too many joules.
The setup I used in my attempt to emulate Bruce Gilden - Ricoh 35 ZF & Metz 20 BC6 flash. By far the most expensive part of this was the Olympus TTL cable! (I think the Ricoh was £2 or £3 from a charity shop).
The Ricoh is a really good little 35mm film camera and a pleasure to use with a good positive feel to the shutter and the other (very few) controls.. The ZF is short for zone focus - very convenient for street photography (especially at night) - yet the camera is otherwise identical to the Ricoh 500G - the same sharp 40mm f2.8 lens, programmed auto exposure with manual override, up to 800 ISO film etc.
Photograph taken with a Nikon P7100, Nikon SB26 flash on manual, fired through a 24" translucent umbrella. Effectively my first serious attempt at still life with flash.
Update: h2testw reveals that the flash drive is fake. After 6.9 GB of testing, the device disappears due to an error. On Linux, that error is multiple lines of something like "device descriptor read/64, error -110"
