The ring = water (Suirin)
The triangular ring of fire (Karin)

I drove five miles and as I’m driving home the rainbow became stronger and more vibrant I decided that if I got home in time I would get down the Rec and take a mind blowing panorama. It was still there when I got to the Rec but it was behind me and too high as I looked at my preferred viewpoint. By the time I got to the other end of the Rec the rainbow faded, I’m sure someday there will be another.

Five map projections, in the shape of five classes of vertebrae (amphibian, bird, reptile, mammal, and fish).
A sample from a wonderful day of shooting with my buddies Nelson, Darren and Hugh. We met 2 years ago and annually trek off in some direction to shoot something for the day. This window shot was taken at one of our many stops along our 400 km tour of rural Alberta. A milk bottle, long since full, sits upon a window sill abandoned many years prior.

Five years ago my best friend sent me a link, urging me to sign up for flickr. And what a wild, serendipitous ride it has been!
First, the stats:
From June 15, 2009 - June 15, 2010 I have posted just 58 photos. This is a record-low for me.
From June 15, 2009 - June 15, 2010, I have received 22,052 views on my photostream. This is a record-high for me.
My most viewed image is pushing 28,000 views and climbs daily. The second highest views is pushing 12k, the next few are all hovering near the 10k mark. Not so shabby. Even if nudity may have been a factor. My most favorited has 111 favorites currently. But I've still never had comments go to more than 1 page.
And now for the rest of my year....
- I started a series of nude self portraits at waterfalls. I am looking forward to working on this series again soon. :)
-I spent a night in an airport with another stranded girl from Portland - both of us trying to get to NH. We built a fort out of a potted plant, a couple of cots, and some airline blankets. It was hilarious and memorable. My bags arriving 28 hours after me was not so funny. Having a Ford Expedition instead of a Rav4 as a rental was also not funny.
-I shot an AMAZING wedding in Carmel the weekend before Christmas, and partied in San Francisco and the world's worst hotel room Monterey, CA that weekend, too.
-I went on an amazing women's weekend on the Olympic Peninsula with five other women.
-I saw an old man, a-frame, a full on trouser-dropping, camera mooning, event outside of a brewery during dinner one night. I love Portland!
-I returned full-time to numismatics.
-I started mentoring a 14 year old emotionally disturbed boy who lives at a non-profit group home. It is amazing.
-I went to my first rodeo and it was a BLAST! Who knew???
-I went to my first Oregon State Fair, and oh, the fried foods, my friends...
-I took wedding photos for my amazing, dear old friend Mike and his beautiful bride while they were honeymooning on the west coast.
-I hosted my best friend in the world for a few days and we tore up the PNW and ate too much.
-I had my stepdaughter visit me for a week, her first trip to Oregon. We also ate too much, but we fit in a ton of amazing sightseeing too. :)
-I held a five week old leopard kitten on my lap.
-I lived through the fourth anniversary of my husband, Dave, passing away.
-I learned to shoot in a studio.
-I I finally visited Bend, and had an AMAZING time!
-I I finally visited Bandon, and can't wait for my date there again in February with Patrick and the dogs!
-I planned the first high school reunion my class will have - our 13th. Haha.
-I light-painted a waterfall at midnight with Patrick and Victor.
-I saw Crater Lake for the first time.
-I was diagnosed with a condition that causes early arthritis (which is already prominent in my left hip, my other hip and knees and shoulders are following), and it also causes chronic stomach problems, bruising, and a slew of other goodies. Good times.
-I discovered I tore a ligament 2 years ago on a hike to Ramona Falls. It needs surgery to be repaired. I'm avoiding that surgery.
-I partied on my friend Jessica's yacht. We have known each other 23 years, but foolishly hadn't seen each other in several years.
-I also saw my friend Cocoa, who was the maid of honor at my wedding 8 years ago, and we hadn't seen each other since.
-I photographed the wedding of another numismatic photographer in San Juan Capistrano. It was fabulous - and they are the perfect, sweet, gorgeous couple.
-I rediscovered that photography as "work" is most rewarding. Sometimes you forget.
Lovely light last night at the Duddo Five Stones. A beautiful location but has an eerie feel to it at the same time. I know the photo isn't entirely sharp, this is because of the high winds and as a result the grass in the foreground is blurred.
Many thanks for looking.
