This fountain was built in 1927 in the iron market. It is made of granite and the 5 statues in bronze.

Technical: Handheld, 3 exposures, RAW, 10mm. RAWs processed in cs5 and converted to 16bit tiff, tonemapped in photomatix pro, exported back to cs5, stamped out a few poles and structures, exported to lightroom 3, presets applied and served.

Five-spot Burnets mating, on a closer look I noticed that their antennae look like earth worms coming out of their heads!

Many thanks for all comments and Faves.

Holly: Happy New Year.

Rosy: Happy New Year.

Ivy: Happy New Year.

Yume: Wait! Stop! I am out of order. Lily comes next.

Lily: How strange to be number five.

Yuki: You are not number five. You are number one.

Lily: What do you mean?

Yuki: We are all number one in lindamom's heart.

Yume: Happy New Year.

Lily: Happy New Year.

Yuki: Happy New Year.

Holly: We hope that you all have a year filled with health and happiness and good food and cold drinks and plenty of dolly time. We hope to see you if you come to blytheconNYC2013 and if you don't come we will think of you with extra love. We hope you have plenty of time with your families and friends and that your photos are not fuzzy and that your mail comes on time and that you do not have money worries and that the floor is not cold when you wake up in the morning and that your animals stay healthy and that those of you who have mothers that bother the hell out you decide that they don't want to bother the hell out of you and that Daryl on the Walking Dead does not die and that when you type long things on your computer that they do not disappear. We hope the Traveling Blythes do not get caught in customs and that eyechips don't pop out and that hair does not get static and you eat plenty of cheese.

Rosy: We hope that...

Me: My sweet Rosy, please everyone knows that Holly spoke for all of you and you all don't need to repeat it.

Rosy: OK lindamom. Just one more thing. Our beautiful dresses were made by Mel (kittenlash) and are a gift from her and the sweet and beautiful kittenlashes. They are beautiful and look like the precious metals were knit into dresses. Holly, Ivy and I have had our for a few months but she sent over Lily, Yume's and Yuki's in time for New Years.

Ivy: She wrapped them in scented paper!

All: Thank you Auntie Beautiful Kittenlash! We love you very much.

Yuki: Why don't you tell us what you wish for.

Yume: Also isn't this mochi that Auntie Katie sent us for the year of the snake adorable! We will eat it tomorrow.

Try to tell the truth by taking photographs that lie about it.

- Max Pinckers

---

After some days of puzzlement with the instruction, suddenly I thought this could be the easiest 12by12 instruction ever. Actually, telling the truth by lying about it is what almost every photo does on reducing our visual perception to two dimensions. OK, I was wrong, that doesn’t count because the ability is on the medium, and not on the photographer. However a photographer can intentionally do something similar. Think about photographing subjects in motion, for instance. The shutter speed will change the way movement appears in photographs. Short shutter speeds freeze the subject but hide the movement. Long shutter speeds show us the movement, but distort the object in motion. Therefore, we can show the object or we can show its momentum, but not both things on the same photo. Can we square this circle? I dare say yes. One day, an anonymous and genius photographer discovered the panning technique. The moving object is photographed keeping it in the same position of the frame for the duration of the exposure. As a result, the subject remains more or less intact and the background goes blur, suggesting its speed. What is moving is shown frozen, and what is quiet is shown running. So we see the true because a lie is being shown.

I must confess I love the panning technique, especially when its result is imperfect. When imperfect, pannings give us a glimpse of a dimension that it is not exactly space or time, but something in between. A dreamlike dimension. Dreams, so. The stuff that best tells the truth by lying about it. More of the same...

The Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) is a small duck and is the only member of the genus Lophodytes.

Hooded Mergansers have a crest at the back of the head which can be expanded or contracted. In adult males, this crest has a large white patch, the head is black and the sides of the duck are reddish-brown. The adult female has a reddish crest, with much of the rest of the head and body a greyish-brown. The Hooded Merganser has a sawbill but is not classified as a typical merganser.

Hooded Mergansers are the second smallest species of merganser, with only the Smew of Europe and Asia being smaller, and is also the only Merganser whose native habitat is restricted to North America.

Their preferred habitat for breeding is in swamps and wooded ponds of the northern half of the United States and southern Canada. They prefer to nest in tree cavities near water, but will use Wood Duck nesting boxes if available and unoccupied. They form pairs in early winter. The male leaves the female soon after she lays her eggs, leaving her responsible for all incubation. After hatching, chicks leave the nest with their mother within 24 hours; they are already able to dive and feed themselves, although they remain with their mother for another five weeks.

Hooded Mergansers are short-distance migrants, and winter in the United States wherever winter temperatures allow for ice-free conditions on ponds, lakes and rivers.

These ducks feed by diving and swimming under water to collect small fish, crustaceans and aquatic insects. They find their prey underwater by sight.

The humble 2x4 LEGO Brick and the magic of Disney come together in this project, which I call 'Once Upon A Brick'.

The project sees classic Disney characters reimagined as LEGO Bricks, whilst still retaining the individual characteristics that make them so beloved and well known, the world over.

Why are you having Sunday lunch here at the Beer Park rather than at Mon Ami Gabi downstairs at the Paris Hotel & Casino, or at the Bardot Brasserie down the Strip at the Aria Resort & Casino? Why? Because the great Country music performing artist Alan Jackson once said that ‘Island Time’ is that elusive phenomenon in which one has nothing pressing to do and all day long to do it!

Anymore questions?

This is the weir on the Mosset Burn in Forres.

For us it was quite a moment because we were getting close to the finishing line of the Moray Coast Trail.

We had started in November 2022 and here we were completing it in May 2024. The total we walked over five different Saturdays was about 58 miles.
