Five clear plastic pushpins. For Macro Mondays, the theme is 'five'. HMM

Caught this group of doves in a wildlife refuge in central New Mexico, USA, in the late afternoon. Thank you for the visits and looks!

In an interview, Marilyn Monroe was once asked what she wears to bed, to which she famously responded "Five drops of Chanel No. 5"

Such a classy and subtle way to say something sexy... I try to remember that sexy isn't always in what you show or say...but what you don't.

This is my homage to her, and to that notion.

The Five Boats is an office building in the inner harbor of Duisburg directly at the Buckelbrücke and the Hitachi Power Office.

The seven-storey office building, completed in 2004, was designed by the star designer Sir Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners from London, the detailed planning came from the German architects Bahl und Partner, the project was managed by Kölbl Kruse GmbH, the construction work came from Bilfinger Berger AG, the construction costs amounted to 50 million Euro. The requirement was to enable as many offices as possible to be connected to the water. Due to the oval shape of the five individual hulls and the fact that they are spread out next to each other, almost all offices have a view of the inner harbor or the city center of Duisburg. The 35 office floors all have an identical layout and are modular in structure, so that they can be used very flexibly. The technical and supply rooms are housed in the rear transverse wings, which are only six stories high. The total office space is 22,000 m². The tenant is the company health insurance company Novitas BKK.

Retail shops and restaurants are located on the ground floor on 1,500 m². There are 175 underground parking spaces in the basement.

At night, the four rear transverse wings are illuminated in different colors using LED technology and illuminate the corrugated aluminum surfaces of the hull. The total of 660 m² of lighting area was divided into twenty fields per connecting tract, whose color gradients or lighting moods can be freely programmed. The lighting concept was developed by spectral Gesellschaft für Lichttechnik mbH.

I was there, and captured this event on Kodachrome film. 45 years later, it still seems like a dream. Five big Rio Grande SD45s pull a westbound merchandise train through Provo, Utah as the sun goes down on June 9, 1977. D&RGW rostered 26 of these 3600 horsepower pullers, delivered by EMD between Jan. 1967 and May 1968. Lead engine 5340 was the last unit of the series.

It is almost five years I've been to this place. It is in the middle of lost forest, only very few have seen it. There is actually nothing that special, onle the most fresh greenery, light breeze bringing the live, and atmosphere of serenity. The path waves through in nice curves, almost like in viewsite garden. Deep winter moarning was replaced by beautiful bird singing, celebrating the late spring. Five years ago nad this year again.

For the Macro Mondays theme of 'Five' - five festive mini eggs. HMM!

It's Friday. Forty five seems just about right. Half way there.

Have a great day and a fantastic weekend.

Common Bluets typically have a four lobe flower. This five lobe flower mutation appears to be an exception. Similar to finding a four leaf clover among three leaf clovers.

Take five small units, assemble them and they form a larger unit.

You could also make a flower-shape of this phase, by folding the longer 'arms' backwards.

The unit is two-tone, so it's nice to reverse the colors and make two final versions, you'll see them tomorrow ;-))

The colors are darker, it was a clouded gray day.

Thank you, macro lens and photography, for opening my eyes to the wonders of the small world that surrounds us. High five, Seastar!

Because AUS is heading into winter we get more and more cool misty morning, I braved the cold and ventured to the lake. Five boats sat on the lake in the early morning mist.

Just wanted to take a moonshot in this Wild Garden, the other night. What I could see through my camera was definitely not the moon but a cluster of FIVE newborn blinking stars close to an interstellar cloud of dust.

Or is it just the logo of an extra-terrestrial ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐-Hotel far, far away from Wales?

Has anyone seen this phenomenon, too, or is it just visible from Wales?

Put a new crop on this - below the horizon line. I think I like it better this way.

When I was coming back on Phantom Canyon Road in Teller County, these amazing striated clouds materialized just before dark. so of course I had to pull over to enjoy them. It was a good thing I did, as they were incredibly short-lived and gone in five minutes. A solid reminder that if you see an image (or anything else you want in life), grab it before its gone never to return. Life is truly a serendipitous and impermanent process! ;-)))

Still lifes are a challenge for me. First starting with your subject you then built up. Do you use a white or black background or something else? Composition is next to find a pleasing and interesting display. What kind of natural lighting, front, side or rear? And how many fill cards to fill in the shadows. And finally manually select the aperture, ISO and shutter speed with a prime lens which requires you to move the camera on the tripod rather than a zoom lens. And then finally hope you got lucky. Takes one back to the old Kodachrome days.

This 120 foot long historic bridge is a rare surviving example of a truss bridge in Michigan. Built in 1930, the design is distinguished by its massive steel members and Parker pony truss configuration.

Looking close, you can see the new bridge in the background slightly above and beyond the old bridge. These bridges are located on Highway 65 just downstream from the Five Channels Dam west of Oscoda, Michigan.
