...and trial fitting of the dust baffles.
The casket doesn't look very prepossessing at this juncture because of the dull reddish colour. I have used an aniline water-based stain to enrich the natural colour of the mahogany. In this picture I haven't yet put any varnish on. Since taking this photo I have got the first four coats of finish on, and it is beginning to look pretty good now.
Well, Like my buddy Les said today! Its talk like a pirate day, so how fitting is it for us to be posting our Captain Jack shots. This is one of my few, but not first attempts at working with CS6 and adding something to a image, so please be nice! lol.

Dry-fitting the cab (actually a cab from a spare S12, because I think the cats have used the B11's cab as a cat toy) & hood onto the frame.
I need to edit the DS hood so I can set battery boxes on the frame (+ an air tank, because I'm going to put in a RS1-style transverse tank (like this Pennsy RS1)
I said in an earlier photo that the bow stem shaping wasn't quite all done. It's at this point that you can see what fine tuning has to be done to make it mate up with the bottom.
Work under way fitting GSMR radio phones on 33012 at Eastleigh Works. All mainline rolling stock now needed to be fitted with this equipment.

With weld-on fittings tack welded in place I screwed a pipe nipple into each one to verify that they were pointing straight up before I finished welding them in place. A couple of 'em were a little bit off but a few whacks of a medium size hammer on the side of the pipe nipple set them to rights.

Now we assemble the firebox again, and this time glue the piece down against the inside firebox to mark the inside curve.

Quite a lot of wood removed on the rebate and mortise, ......fingers crossed.
When designing and fitting, there are factors which need to be ordered....
1 was the orientation of the seals to keep water away from metal parts.
2 distance between end of roller and seal, dont want roller catching the seal when door opens.
3 Rebate jutout needs to be thick so as not to break off (16mm)
4 etc
