A lovely spring day hike provided a fitting tribute for memories of my Mom on Mother's Day.

I do enjoy wildflowers over the cultivated garden varieties.

This Sea stack has featured in many of my photos this year. Only fitting that I would have a night shot with Northern lights on the horizon! Light painting was done with a 1 million candle light torch.

Finally! With the prediction of a warmer sunny day for a change, it was time to get out of town and explore some places we've never been to - one of which was Penman's Dam in Paris, Ontario. It wasn't very photogenic with spring growth yet to come, so I went for a monochromatic edit and added just a bit of cream tone to fit in with the predominantly brown tones of the original scene.

I spotted this beautiful light fitting at Montisfont Abbey. It was in a hallway with stairs nearby so I was able to shoot it against the window.

This piece was inspired by a Youtube video a Deaf friend showed me.... the only clear sign in the video was "I love you"..she asked me to draw what i thought it was about.. I perceived it to be about a deaf child growing up to hearing parents, how the parents of an infant use great facial expressions to interact , and the parent child relationshipin takes place in a very visual way, but then as time passes the parents withdraw from using so much expression, expecting to transition over to an audio world ::hence the clock pulling the Alexander Graham Bell mask over the faces. But using Bell as this polarized icon through the dual view point of Deaf Culture, and Hearing Culture, the piece came to be about the relationship between Deaf culture and American society ... The plane image is the X1 rocket...it was the first plane to break the sound barrier. i thought it fitting since the hand shape in ASL for "i love you", and "plane" are the same.... the paper airplane image hints back at the rocket in the foreground, and means the American school system's many painful attempts to educate Deaf children... the parent figures are shown signing behind the back denoting the parents feelings towards Deafness, and reluctance to embrace Deaf culture. An alarming percentage of hearing parents who have Deaf children do not learn sign language ..and so i hope the drawing asks the question... "It it logical to strap an infant upon this plane as a method to break the sound barrier and launch the child into hearing culture without choice, when the parents could mearly learn to sign and become a part of Deaf culture with the child...?" the shadows of the parents and infant are connected, while actually the patents are shown not even touching the same ground as the child, emphasizing the ignorant concepts of a society that believes all Deaf learn to read lips perfectly and this makes them blend effortlessly into their hearing world.. the snail is a near identical image to the cochlea inside the human ear, so coming from the shadow of the x1 rocket it reminds that in reality, lip reading and the oral method are an enormously slow and grueling process...and also hints at the speed with which society has really taken the time to intelligently consider Deafness, and finally questions the latest modern scientific approach to Deafness the Cochlear implant..that the face of the snail hints at the "i love you" handshape, and is turning around suggests that a loving society might try a different approach. the ears of the parent figures are shown as closed eyes....meaning that from the deaf child's perspective, the parents hearing causes them to not pay attention with their eyes...the scuba divers show Deaf culture,, as the beautiful silent world it is.. since Deaf scuba divers can literally use sign language to communicate underwater, where hearing people just akwardly gesture, and have to wait to be above the surface to communicate.....i hope this image would be striking and urge hearing people to stop and think deeper about Deaf culture, and the many wonderful aspects of life hearing causes them to miss....

Iron pipe fittings found in my husbands workroom. I have to say I enjoyed this theme and trying to make something mundane like iron into a half way decent image. I think it turned out not too bad.

This caption may seem like like an antithesis but I think it describes this amazing sculpture perfectly. This work by Anish Kapoor titled ‘Dismemberment, Site 1’ is nestled in rolling hills above the Kaipara Harbour on Gibbs Farm. I couldn’t think of anything more unexpected to see out in the country and yet it somehow manages to fit in just perfectly like it was meant to be there. A definite favourite of mine.

FLUIDR!

Two sisters.

Molly and Ethel Everson lived and breathed their lives on the River Deben at Woodbridge where they toiled alongside their brothers Cyril and Bert.

It was truly a family affair as they had inherited the boatyard in 1969 with the passing of their father so it was inevitable that they would retain the boatyard in the family name.

Whilst the memory of Cyril and Bert can be seen on the boats that they crafted as many are still sailing the waters of the River Deben today and these craft are a testimony to these highly skilled boat builders.

Molly and Ethel managed the administrative side of the business which included the chandlery, sail store and office and by all accounts they were tough but hard working women.

Andrew Bolton was commissioned by the Woodbridge Boat Yard to create a sculpture dedicated to the two women and in November 2020 the sculpture was fittingly positioned appropriately in the River Deben a place that the Everson’s knew and loved.

Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out?

The late afternoon and early evening's foul weather put a real damper in the planned night photo shoot that was planned to partake at the Mad River museum for the members of both groups. As the evenings dinner and events simmered down some shots were still to be had as the crew prepared for one more day at Bellevue before heading back home for the season.

This is not one of my typical MUG SHOTS. But perhaps it is a fitting "cup". :)

A fitting end to a very good night ended with shooting the car (and of course throwing a little mood lighting on it)

Dream a little dream of me was playing on the radio as we took our evening drive into the county side. We stopped and took some photos of the spectacular sunset and I thought what a fitting title to this photograph.

One day last month we found a pelican rookery that was so totally accessible it was a wonder why I was the only bird photographer nearby. This close up of a brown pelican bill is just something I thought was really cool, and if it wasn't for the close proximity of the roosting bird your life would not be as complete as it now is for seeing it. Yeah, take that last line with a grain of salt - it just fit the bill.

We think our society is going in the wrong direction when people are valued based on what is on the outside, rather than on the inside.

For this image we wanted to portray a contradictory concept.

We have a ballerina sitting on a toilet while eating a cheeseburger. She has a tormented look on her face because society pressures her to be a beautiful size 0…but all she wants to do is eat cheeseburgers.

Bardot necklines are in all the stores this summer. They never seemed to suit me until I got this longer hairstyle, but now I love them. Bare shoulders look so feminine and I adore the sensuousness of my long hair on bare skin!

Excerpt from www.oakvillegalleries.com/exhibitions/details/228/Sascha-...:

Sascha Braunig's paintings and drawings are exercises in colour, form, and illusion. Citing an artistic lineage that stretches from the Pictures Generation through to the Chicago Imagists and horror-movie practical effects, her sometimes barbed, tubular, netted, or neon-lit forms speak of many of the tensions of the current moment, such as being a subject within the grid of digital or gender systems.

In this exhibition, which stretches over both Oakville Galleries sites, the Canada-born, US-based artist brings together new and recent works that are based on the compositional motif of figures engaged in conflict with a dress-like structure. These works use material qualities to analogize an immaterial idea: the feeling of struggling with a system more powerful than you, in which you are also deeply entangled.

Braunig builds and uses three-dimensional models as visual aids in the making of her work, some of which are included in the exhibition. Because of this observational painting practice, she sees her work as being linked to the academic nineteenth-century painter's use of the “lay figure," a jointed doll, not quite to-scale, that artists used as a stand-in for a live model in the studio. The exhibition's title, Lay Figure, refers to this historical practice, but Braunig extends its meaning to the schematic wiry figure that recurs in her recent work. Here she imagines the lay figure coming into a life of its own, squirming to free itself from rigid systems and resisting its status as the inanimate muse in patriarchal painting's history.

In what is probably the first time CSX has leased new wide cab power and not Second Generation EMDs, the CREX 1512 blends in much easier with the other units in tow as it is seen leading Q008 through the S curves of Ridgefield Park. The train is not even a mile from its destination in Little Ferry, NJ.
