First Leicester SN65OKE 35153 seen coming into Leicester Haymarket bus station on service 14 to Beaumont Leys

First encounter with the famous Norse fjords: seen from above you get a better sense of their scale, but I have to say it's a fascinating view even from below!

As day breaks, first light washes the peaks of Hamnøya in warm gold, while a faint rainbow arcs through retreating clouds and reflects softly on the still waters of the Lofoten Islands.

♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥

Not too shabby of a spot for our first Hawaiian sunset.

The first flight that I have seen of this year's Osprey hatchlings. It flew from one end of the nest to the other. It did not seem too surprised I suspect it was not it's first.

Ben Lomond (known to the original indigenous inhabitants as "turapina") is Tasmania's second highest mountain. It has a huge central massif with high plateau above 1,200 metres (3,900 feet). "The highest feature on the plateau is the unimposing summit of Legges Tor, at 1572 metres (5,157 ft), on the northern aspect of the plateau. The southern end of the plateau is dominated by Stacks Bluff, 1,527 metres (5,010 ft), which is an imposing feature that drops away to a cliffline 600 metres (2,000 ft) above the surrounding foothills." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Lomond_(Tasmania)

That's doesn't seem very high by world standards, or even the Australian Alps (dominated by Mount Kosciuszko 2,228 metres (7,310 ft), but given the lower degree of Latitude it is a very real cold and alpine world, especially in winter.

This series of photographs over the next couple of weeks will introduce you to the mountain's spectacular scenery and fascinating ancient geology. I have tagged on the photograph exactly where we are heading for today's photographs as an introduction to the mountain environment.

This is another from the archives. Have the day off tomorrow and weather permitting should be able to head out.

This one is from our visit to Greece. Sunrise looking over towards mount Athos. Amazing light and very little done to this photo other than curves adjustments, sharpening and cropping..

I was going to load this up as a black and white, but the colour just seemed more incredible..

As always appreciate your comments and visit. Enjoy your day...

...in *17* months (duration due to covid). Was also our first "road trip" in over 4.5 years!

Pic of Chizuko soaking in the view at the hotel we stayed at (Millennium Rotorua) a few days ago whilst on our first vacation/roadtrip in a *LONG* time!

We chose to stay at Millennium hotels on our trip to "payback" our stay whilst in MIQ at the Grand Millennium in Auckland.

It's June once again. Metra F59PHI 77 swings uphill at Noble Street, Chicago, with an outbound Milwaukee District train of some flavor.

For the first few moments, sunrise looked dull with no colours at all. Then, the sun broke through the clouds and I was blessed with this gorgeous light. I couldn't stop clicking. Ideally, I wanted to change my filter to create an even longer exposure, but was concerned that the light is going to change any minute.

Wishing all my flickr friends a wonderful Christmas and a great new year ahead.
