As day breaks, first light washes the peaks of Hamnøya in warm gold, while a faint rainbow arcs through retreating clouds and reflects softly on the still waters of the Lofoten Islands.

Not too shabby of a spot for our first Hawaiian sunset.

This is the last of my Skye shots from my latest trip, and I think I may have a rest from Skye for next year (probably, never say never though!)
I toyed with the idea of the northwest highlands again, but have decided that I'm going to have a crack at the Cairngorms, I've only shot there a couple of times (very briefly) before so I think that's good enough for me.
First trip will be for a couple of days in February - I'll be camping as I want to save my cash for the big trip next year - back to Florida for my third anniversary! I'm sure it will be brutally cold but it'll be worth it with any luck.
I've got 10 or 12 shots dreamed up already for the Sarasota area - can't wait to get there!
Canon Eos 5D, 70-200 f4, not sure if I used filters or not.
Hit L to see this on a dark background, photos always look better when they are not against bright white.

I recently had the occasion to travel to upstate New York with my wife to visit ourt oldest grandson. He is a first-year at RIT in Rochester and I knew I might be able to work in a little RR photography as well, especially with the ALCo populated roster of the LA&L. After getting some lunch with him in between classes on 11/10/25, my wife and I started south to hopefully catch the northbound road train. The early snowfall contrasted against the waining fall colors but I lucked out finding the job switching near the Barilla plant in Avon. After adding to his train, and tieing up the town for a short time he would head north up to the Rochester area at Genesee Jct.
Thank you Flickr member "rding tchr" for introducing me to Picnik. My PhotoShop Elements performs much of what Picnik offers but I joined for the collage templates.

Dawn is always a special time in the mountains. Here's the view from the base of the Te Wae Wae Glacier, looking past Mueller Lake to the Tasman River and on to Lake Pukaki.
Being a cat from the tropics, Maui never experienced a fire in the fireplace before. i was testing the fireplace for heat loss today (it brought the temp up one degree Farenheit). Maui was scared at first, but then embraced the warmth. Like most cats do. All he needs is a cozy soft rug.
First Midland Red WX59BZE 69541 seen on Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham on service 144 to Worcester
Sadie Mae's first time going thru a car wash with me.
She was so inquisitive and relaxed.

It's June once again. Metra F59PHI 77 swings uphill at Noble Street, Chicago, with an outbound Milwaukee District train of some flavor.
For the first few moments, sunrise looked dull with no colours at all. Then, the sun broke through the clouds and I was blessed with this gorgeous light. I couldn't stop clicking. Ideally, I wanted to change my filter to create an even longer exposure, but was concerned that the light is going to change any minute.
Wishing all my flickr friends a wonderful Christmas and a great new year ahead.

The first light of the day reflects off the mountains behind the fjord with the small red rorbuer huts lining the shore.
