As day breaks, first light washes the peaks of Hamnøya in warm gold, while a faint rainbow arcs through retreating clouds and reflects softly on the still waters of the Lofoten Islands.

♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥

In August 2004, BNSF's final northbound RoadRailer between SoCal and Portland approaches Klamath Falls, Oregon. It was the first time I ever caught a BN/BNSF SD70MAC in the so-called "Eddie Bauer" scheme on the point of a train.

Another nail in the coffin of the square sun society! I have no idea where the Flickr map feature has disappeared to, it's been a while since I've had my camera out, but for those who are interested in this location it's the less posh side of the Chiang Dao mountain near the Laowu Wiang Haeng Gate. If you don't mind the cold conditions in a flimsy bamboo hut without any windows, precariously perched on the edge of a narrow ridgeway, the night sky and early morning mist are quite amazing. But then the hospitality shown by the local hill tribe villagers is in my opinion far better than any posh nosh resort on the other side of the mountain range for only a quarter of the price.

(my bad, found the map just below!)

The first flight that I have seen of this year's Osprey hatchlings. It flew from one end of the nest to the other. It did not seem too surprised I suspect it was not it's first.

First outing of the new string down the beach for a quick spin!!

It was a bit flat down there but the new string seems OK... Going to make a few more colours now I'm happy with it.

Carole developed her first b&w film today. She shot Ilford HP5 120 film using her 1961 Rolleiflex medium format twin lens reflex camera. I'm really proud of her accomplishment.

This is another from the archives. Have the day off tomorrow and weather permitting should be able to head out.

This one is from our visit to Greece. Sunrise looking over towards mount Athos. Amazing light and very little done to this photo other than curves adjustments, sharpening and cropping..

I was going to load this up as a black and white, but the colour just seemed more incredible..

As always appreciate your comments and visit. Enjoy your day...

First crocus of the year 2019

Dawn is always a special time in the mountains. Here's the view from the base of the Te Wae Wae Glacier, looking past Mueller Lake to the Tasman River and on to Lake Pukaki.

Being a cat from the tropics, Maui never experienced a fire in the fireplace before. i was testing the fireplace for heat loss today (it brought the temp up one degree Farenheit). Maui was scared at first, but then embraced the warmth. Like most cats do. All he needs is a cozy soft rug.

It's June once again. Metra F59PHI 77 swings uphill at Noble Street, Chicago, with an outbound Milwaukee District train of some flavor.

Rudy is now 13 weeks old and had his first real photo session today. He wasn't too thrilled!! This little puppy is always moving and he doesn't like to take orders!! He finally resigned himself to behaving for a few minutes...but you can see he wasn't too happy. This is such a typical stubborn doxie look! "You will pay for this later!"

We love him dearly and he has become the boss of the house.

For the first few moments, sunrise looked dull with no colours at all. Then, the sun broke through the clouds and I was blessed with this gorgeous light. I couldn't stop clicking. Ideally, I wanted to change my filter to create an even longer exposure, but was concerned that the light is going to change any minute.

Wishing all my flickr friends a wonderful Christmas and a great new year ahead.
