Finally, she sleeps because after so many months of sporadic unrest there is little to do but to lie and wait for the unavoidable comfort of a dull and temporary hibernation. shhhh = )

Built for the Abide category of LSB District 18 Contest. Another fun build. The title reflects the bags that make up the blue areas of the bike. I have had about 50 sitting around for over 6 months, finally found a use for some of them.

Enjoy :)

3 weeks later than last year, I've caught up with some Woundwort shieldbugs (Eysarcoris venustissimus)!!

Early morning at Times Square working through the Jetlag. At times like this some light and colour are really appreciated.

Finally a Prothonotary, a lifer for me after three years of looking.

56105 leads 3S14 11.38 Grimsby Town - York Works railhead treatment train, approaching New Barnetby. 66848 is on the rear. [Pole, 5/6 sections {~6.8m)]

This leg of the day's circuit first heads to Halifax (via Skellow, Wakefield Kirkgate and Mirfield), then returns to Wakefield Kirkgate (reverse) to run to Sheffield via Barnsley, and finally returns to York via Barnsley, Wakefield Kirkgate and Castleford. Incidentally, this train set off from Grimsby still showing as 3S13 on signalling maps, and therefore some reports for 3S13 on Realtime Trains have incorrect times; they are actually the times 3S14 went past, and 3S14 has lots of "no report" entries!

56105 was standing in for 66847 which had been sent for tyre turning; this was its third day working with 66848 and these wagons, but the loco is noticeably dirtier (on this side, at least) than when I'd photographed it closer to the background bridge two days previously (see here).

I'd originally planned to come to this spot on that previous occasion, but had spotted a group closer to the lime works and thought the sun might not have been lighting the front of the loco quite as well here - but I was wrong. So I decided to have another go, this location allowing a higher vantage point because you are not stood quite as much below track level. It was either come here or go to Scunthorpe, but I wanted to go north of the Humber for 3J51 (with 37s) and going to Scunthorpe would have risked missing it before its reversal at Hull (because I would have set off about twenty minutes later and had a longer drive).

Be kind, be honest and be happy.

Most of the people around me in McAlester were upset as the cones were placed around the 4014, but frankly I didn't mind.

It finally made this shot possible!

Out of the 6 or so occasions of going here twice the pool has been completely empty. The other times its been a rubbish sunrise.

I got up at 5.00am, looked off my back deck and headed back to bed only to think I'm up now i may as well just go. On arrival I thought it could be a chance. As the sun came up all was revealed, "FINALLY"

After ten years of closure, our beloved castle finally reopens its doors to visitors. "Utveggio" means "I see everything," they told me as a child, as I gazed out the window at what looked to me like an ancient medieval castle. Only much later did I learn of the Utveggio family and their failed plan to build a luxury hotel on Mount Pellegrino. It was the Roaring Twenties. Michele Utveggio, a builder originally from Calatafimi who had already constructed numerous buildings in the city, purchased the land from the Municipality of Palermo in 1927, taking charge of the entire project, including the construction of the connecting road and other urban development works. Unfortunately, the business idea was not successful. The connection to the city was difficult, and the planned development of the surrounding areas never materialized. By the beginning of World War II, the business was in clear decline. An attempt was even made to open a casino, but the venture failed. The war and the use of the area, first by Italian troops and then by Germans (who installed anti-aircraft artillery turrets there), led, after the war, to the definitive closure of the structure, which remained abandoned and subject to vandalism for many years. In 1984, the castle was acquired and restored by the Sicilian Region, which in 1988 entrusted it to a legal entity to establish a management school, Cerisdi, a center dedicated to research and management studies. This advanced training center, however, is no longer operational. Its last notable guest was Pope John Paul II, who stayed at the hotel during his visit to Palermo in 1995. Utveggio Castle reopened to the public on December 5, 2025, after major restoration work funded by the Sicilian Region. The project renovated the conference rooms, installed panoramic elevators, and converted the structure into a conference and cultural center.

Già all'inizio della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, l'attività era in evidente declino.

It's been a long winter, but local boatnerds were rewarded for their patience this sunny Sunday afternoon with the arrival of the Cuyahoga, inbound with potash for the Kuhlman bulk facility. She's not the first vessel upriver this spring, but traffic has definitely been off to a slow start on this part of the Maumee River this season.

my very own clematis! it has only one flower, so it will be photographed a million times... until the others grow... LOL!

365/365: This is it.

Project 365 is a wrap! I started this a year ago without much expectations, just a desire to push myself deeper into photography and boy have I learned a lot. It's been an aeon, it's been hard and painful at times, fun at most. I've made so many new friends, contacts, acquaintances on and offline as a result of this project. This project most certainly changed my life in a way, opening up so many opportunities that wouldn't have been available to me.

And there's so many people to thank. First and foremost would of course be, you. Yes you, your comments and encouragement are what that fueled me through the past year. Then there's my sister, whose been a helpful assistant in quite a few shots (including today's grand finale) and a great contributor in deciding which take to upload when I'm in the least decisive. There are my fellow coursemates, who've been really supportive of my endeavor, putting up with my shutterbugging all the while in campus and sometimes even sportingly being subjects of my photos.

There are a lot more thing's I'd like to say regarding 365 days worth of this project. Look out for a post on this on my main blog, as soon as I organize my thoughts and pull through this hectic period of the Lunar New Year celebrations.

Quite a few friends had asked me if I intend to continue with a second *shrug* year. YES! I'll most definitely won't be, heh. A year in photos is enough, way enough. As for what I'll intend to do after this, well.. I'll probably upload a few more 365 outtakes from last year as well as of course, fresh ones when I have the luxury to do so. It feels so nice to be able to stick to my own schedule now.

To those of you who've just started your 365's for the year, good luck! It'll be over sooner that you think. =) So, thank you, for following me on my journey. It's been great going through all of it with you all.

Tll next time! *bows out* =)

New England Southern runs just over 20 miles from the interchange point with Pan Am to Lochmere where the Hobo/state takes over the rights of the former B&M line. With only one customer the short line railroad only runs a handful times a year. Most times they seem to run when it’s doom and gloom out. When I got a last second tip that they would be running with a sunny forecast I headed up to New Hampshire. The crew on duty @0630 made fast work and left their transload facility in Canterbury and picked up the 2 loads for 3M. The train made good timing going up and to Tilton. For the return trip south I picked a spot where the main line crosses the Winnipesaukee River. After a long wait of about 45 minutes and of course clouds moving in with the sun disappearing and reappearing what seemed too many times. The SW1500 finally came through with 2 empties. Photo taken Tilton, NH August 9, 2019

I've had my fun with the silly photos I just posted. And of course I was given a reminder that I might be falling off the wagon. I'm not. The sissy days are long gone.

This passing hasn't worked yet. I can obviously get the clothes right. Like this for example. I could wear this out. I have something on now. I will take some photos in a bit. Cute and passable and I can wear it pretty much anywhere at anytime. But the makeup? I have spent at least six hours today on and off and on again and I simply am terrible at it. My awful posture isn't as bad anymore. My walking has improved. But the makeup is sooo difficult and until that piece clicks in...

I'm a pretender. For those of you who are "real", I get it. Pretenders are disrespectful to the hardship of actually being committed, transitioning, full time etc. and I am sensitive to the messages that are sent by how we present ourselves. I'm trying. I really am. I am fully aware that just putting a dress on, a wig and some lipstick just makes you a hairy pig with lipstick. I am sensitive to the message being sent by how we present ourselves. There's soooo much more to this. I'm struggling with it. Hard. Think I probably ruined what was otherwise a cute dress with those boots. But it's out there and hopefully I'll see a progression. It's not always forward. Sometimes there are steps back too.

The people who know me know this is where I make some proclamation about the end of the world or something. That's not the case. In fact the opposite. The utmost respect to people who live the life with no apologies and all in. I can't be all in so maybe that's the problem. Doesn't matter. I just have to overcome it.

I'm sorry I wrote all this. If you read it thank you for listening. I do feel better. Actually fine and a little more energized. Some photos, some wine and finish the ceiling tonight. Have a good night to the poor souls who read and got through this.

Finally got time to upload a few pics on here!

Stopped long enough for a still shot.

Finally, I came to the National Gardens in Athens. This place is pretty big. I really like how the nature was structured here, forming a kind of tunnel over the paths and passageways. It almost reminded me of the Tunnel of Love in Ukraine in a way. It is very peaceful here and because of the weather, there wasn't that many people here. After visiting the National Gardens, I also paid a quick stop at the Greek Parliament building which is literally next to the National Garden. However, I was late when the changing of the guard took place and there were quite a few people there watching.

Had enough of a bubble between work responsibilities and illnesses today and get out for some shooting. I wanted to go north, but an opportunity to get vaccinated sent me back to where I work instead.

This railroad building I have shot before. It is by the Norfolk Southern tracks in Arden, NY. It was built by the Erie.
