This shot taken the other morning whilst walking the dog, isn’t anything special, but it’s highly significant to me. It was the first time since September, when I sustained a serious injury to my left hand, that I’ve finally been able to use a camera handheld😁😁.
There’s still a good way to go and lots of physio before it’s anywhere near what it was, but at least things are moving forward and I now have use of the hand🙏.
Raindrops showing on the inside of our wheelbarrow with tomatoes in behind. It’s been dry for ages so any rain we get is a blessing.
I realized the other day that i missed my 18th rezz day on August 13 ! I can't believe that i am still here 18 yrs after logging in on a whim ! what a ride it's been for sure . I ,miss the ole Secord Life so much
So the rain has finally stopped this week and I've been busy - but found enough time to make this small one.
Enjoy! :p

Green Plant Hopper/Torpedo Bug (Siphanta acuta) adult
I have seen a number of nymphs this season but today I spotted the first adult of the season.
I will put images of nymphs in two different instar stages in the first comment box.
I finally get to post something that is not in flat light. Having spent most of my recent photography hours at the coast, I've been on a streak of only finding a subject in the shade or overcast, or pre sunrise and post sunset. This Solano County juvenile Red Shouldered hawk in golden hour light finally broke that streak.
Proof lmao

Out of all the times I've been to the UP Bloomington Yard I never caught this in action and this day I finally got to. 12/3/16
After the shot, I took advantage of this bench
to appreciate this bucolic place.

Après la photo, j'ai profité de ce banc pour

This is gonna be my 50 th click so I thought what can be better than my own picture. :D
The shot is taken at Marine Drive by my friend Ameya Phansalkar .
“I’ve finally given in, my eyes are shut under the blindfold. I can hear and smell, but I cannot see. My hands are clammy I feel cold yet I am warm. It is what I wanted, but I am now unsure, dubious yet at the same time excited and curious. I would like to think I feel a bit like Alice just before she fell down the hole into the rabbit hole. Yet there are no rabbits here… not even those of the rampant persuasion.”

The Front Range finally received its first measurable snow of the season, with areas averaging about six inches. BNSF's Buck Local, powered by EMD GP25 No. 3171 and GE B40-8W No. 528, makes their way south through Niwot, Colorado, with a few loaded centerbeam cars on December 3, 2025.

After setting in Jeffersonville for years rusting away, 54 with no future in sight, 54 finally has new paint and a new life. Sunrise bought it and restored it to running condition for use around the South Charleston plants. This here is my first time seeing it run, as it pulls a cut of hoppers into the grain facility.
I finally went to some places I have been thinking about for months. This was more of a test session and exercise shooting urban in a run and gun style. I did not want to get my camera stolen and last night I found almost no worries of that happening. I was always aware of my surroundings and it was a rush walking around the dark areas to see the bright ones.

For all these years of Arachtober, I've seen some of you posting these green beauties and wished I could see one myself. Last November in Texas, I got my wish! As soon as I spotted her there, clutching her eggsac below protective bent leaves, I became giddy and did a little dance so that my father had to stop and ask me what was so exciting.
I told him all of this and he became appreciative with me, as we both bent down in an attempt to get a good look at her. I saw several more during my week in south Texas, but this was my first.
A photo with my index finger for scale is posted in the first comment below. She was much bigger than several small species of lynx spiders I find near my house.

I have finally captured a Double-crested Cormorant yawning. Even though I observe them often every year waiting for them to open their mouth so I can capture this wonderful blue, it finally happened... that is several years of waiting and hope!!!! This is a cropped image as it was a bit out of my range unfortunately.
Purrcy is allowed back into the sunroom... only 8 chrysalis left and he can't get near them...
Today I released 17...
Finally I started to shoot. During this time I was very busy and I could not devote time to photography. it was a very bad period.
I discovered this new place close to home, so I went in the morning, at dawn, to do some self. The sky that morning was a sight, thankfully.
I want to start doing self now that I have more time :)
