I didn't wear a coat to work today for the first time in almost six months. While we are not quite done with the cold, the freezing and the snow of winter has finally started to fade in our memories. Finally!

Well I finally arrived where I wanted to for so long..The Jurassic Coast!! I had been meaning to get here for as long as I have known of this place..
This was shot near Lulworth Cove. The Jurassic coast is special not just for the fossils, but also for the rugged seascape that it boasts of and rightly so! Ideally you can do the entire stretch for years and I tried my best to get some decent shots from over there..I really troubled a few of my friends in this process as they had to carry my stuff and climb down cliffs too :) Nonetheless it was a great place and a memorable trip...
The clouds seem to move real fast in the UK..sorta seems like the norm to me as I have exposed longer hoping for some clouds motion in vain earlier. All these were manually metered however owing to my Black Glass :) I have never had so much fun shooting seascapes before and this is something I am really bad at...coz the horizon always scares me and there is little good of shooting seascapes without ample foreground and subject of interest(s)..but that is just me anyway...
Well this pic has an ND 10 stop filter and an 8 stop ND Grad filter and ISO400. I have started moving away from creating processed HDRs...I am going to definitely rely heavily on my filters going forward. This really helped me to get the motion blur on the clouds and the stilness of the water...
I will definitely get more regular with my posts hopefully from now on..Thanks for viewing and have a great weekend!

Explore #480 Well after about 45 days we finally got a sunset of any note. I looked out the window and squealed when I saw it, it was such an unfamiliar, yet comforting sight ;)
There is a series of new advertisements on the television here at the moment. They are about (un)complicating your life, (un)stressing (un)winding and generally putting more (un) into your life.
It goes on to say.... does it really matter if for one night in the week the kids have toast for dinner, or the floor does not get mopped for a few days (weeks...lol) but that is is more important to (un)wind...
I am really liking these ads for some reason, and I am not a TV ad junkie kinda gal. lol But the message there is solid and (un)deniable.... we do need more (un) in our life.
So what things do we need to (un) up in our day to day routines?? that will make our lives less (un)comfortable and more (un)deniably wonderful lol ...

Is it ok to sometimes say well I am sorry, but I am (un)able to do that.....and more importantly be (un)affected by that choice.
Can we just let ourselves be (un)armed and let go....and not have to have everything planned and in order...
I certainly do not think that that is (un)attainable :) In fact I think it is definitely not (un)relalistic to want that for ourselves sometimes.
If we have learned this behaviour of always having to DO, can it be (un)learned?
I do think this could (un)lock some of the daily stresses if we just let go sometimes and be a little more (un)neurotic lol Because are we really being the best we can when we are (un)rested, (un)happy and (un)fulfilled?
So here is to getting some more (un) in your life. I would like to be more (un) encumbered, (un)wrinked and (un)even lol just to name a few......

I put in 3 new coneflowers, seems I got two that was red and one that was yellow, the last to put on pedals, ready for summer now.
It took until November for our area to burst with the normal colors of October, but here they are at long last.
After tramping for two days on Mount Taranaki, the cloud finally cleared for this reveal just before sunset. Taken from Holly Hut on the Pouakai Crossing. I am intrigued by that very large slab-like structure near the top on the right - it looks like it may collapse at any time! Be great if anyone knows what this feature is called? (Update: I think it's called the Turtle)

Well, the Cat Distribution System has struck again. After months of feeding Inky outside and earning her trust, we got her in a cat carrier and took her to the vet last week. Turns out she tested negative for FeLV and FIV, as well as heartworms. She has no parasites, either. So we decided to see if she would be happy as an indoor cat. She seems to be very happy to be out of the elements. I gave her a blanket that the Oriental Shorthairs loved to sleep in and she immediately started making biscuits and purring. She didn't purr when she was outside. We isolated her for a couple days from the other cats and are introducing them slowly. So far things are going well and everyone is getting along. While we didn't need another cat, apparently the universe decided we did. Welcome to the family Inky!

This bird has eluded me over the years. I’ve seen and been able to get photos of it in the past, but typically the shots were too far away and blurry. Finally, as I cruised Malheur Wildlife Refuge, this guy was patient enough to allow me to get a decent shot. Bullock’s Orioles feed on fruit, nectar, insects, and sometimes, they will eat small lizards. They use a feeding method called “gaping” that involves piercing the skin of fruit or insects with their beak closed, then pry it open inside the bug or fruit and use their tongue to lap up the moist juices inside. For quite some time I was searching for an opportunity to photograph the thumb-sized European treefrogs. Over the years I had heard them a lot of times, but never saw, let alone photograph one. So you can imagine how happy I was to find my first treefrog. Photographing is not easy, since they seem tone having the habit to rest in impenetrable blackberry-shrubs. But I succeeded!

It's been mostly Dark Sky July along the Central Coast of CA. This morning the sun finally broke through the gray mist. A pod of American White Pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) were feeding and I was ready; Sony a9; Sony 200-600mm lens at 543 mm; 1/3200 sec; f/9; 1600 ISO; Gitzo tripod; Morro Bay National Estuary; CA; USA
Finally snuck out after about 6 months of being stuck inside. Was planning on going to Dry Creek Falls only to discover I'll need to return when I'm either in better shape or younger. So we stopped of on the way back to the car for some pics at Rylander.
At last after two weeks of mist and drabness this morning broke out with blue skies and a bright Meuse River. Here's a view across to Blerick from the right Meuse levee on the Venlo side. The green buoy marks the river's left channel. The water is relatively high now inundating the Raaijweide (www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/14563781947/in/photoli...).
The steeple is that of what used to be the church dedicated to St Lambert of Maastricht (c.636-c.705) in Blerick. Destroyed during fierce fighting in WWII it was rebuilt but turned into a health centre in 2017.

I've been waiting a long time for a really good opportunity to photograph this bird, a species that lives in my neighborhood but is one of the rarer visitors to the yard. Finally I got my shot when I came home from work today and--seeing a lot of activity--decided to spend some time yardbirding. This sapsucker came down to the fountain about three meters from me and spent several minutes bathing and looking right at me without any apparent concern. Aside from identifying a new species in the yard (I'm talkin to you, pileated woodpecker), nothing could have been better. Red-breasted sapsucker, backyard Olympia.
I finally found a place where you could be outside in Los Angeles County. All of our parks and beaches are closed and most everyone here is ready to open up with safety measures in place.
The Botanic Garden is open, but you need to have a reservation. Even then, there were more people there than I have ever seen. It seems that Angelenos don't like staying home when it's so beautiful outside.

Finally got my own Logo Hat and Hoody. Never too old to wear them. Being in my young 70's of age they are the new teenage years. national geographic Your Shot wouldn't post their Iconic log hat to my UK address so I made up my own Logo and here it is BjT (my initials) My Shot. Well if I couldn't have Your Shot I was going to have My Shot on my hat and hoody! oh and it was embroidered too by a UK company. Awesome gear!

Japanese Itoh hybrid peonies (intersectional peonies) are a cross between tree and herbaceous peonies, offering the best traits of both: large, 8-inch, long-lasting flowers (yellows, reds, pinks, corals) on strong, 3-foot shrubby stems that don't need staking. They are extremely cold-hardy, disease-resistant, and bloom for 3–4 weeks.
Coral Sunset Intersectional Itoh Peony .
A sunset in a flower! Aptly named for its awe-inspiring transformation from a radiant, vivid coral through a range of peaches, and finally, a creamy white colour, the flower is a masterpiece at every step of this sunset, and one might argue a bloom only improves with age. Unique from other coral varieties in that it opens with the most intense coral colour and has petals that are more ruffled, which perhaps contribute to a fuller appearance. Has a lower, more compact growing habit than Coral Charm. Mass plantings are recommended as flowers at different colour stages provide a visual riot in the landscape.
Side buds are possible, extending the bloom period. A favourite of the peony garden, this outstanding peony produces intense sunset coral, semi-double blossoms with rose overtones and a fluffy deep yellow stamens in the center. The lightly fragrant flowers are long lasting in fresh bouquets. ‘Coral Sunset’ blooms early in the peony season, around late spring in Ontario It is highly prized for its exemplary plant habit. and by florist as cut flower in bouquets.
