I've been waiting a long time for a really good opportunity to photograph this bird, a species that lives in my neighborhood but is one of the rarer visitors to the yard. Finally I got my shot when I came home from work today and--seeing a lot of activity--decided to spend some time yardbirding. This sapsucker came down to the fountain about three meters from me and spent several minutes bathing and looking right at me without any apparent concern. Aside from identifying a new species in the yard (I'm talkin to you, pileated woodpecker), nothing could have been better. Red-breasted sapsucker, backyard Olympia.

This F12 belongs to a University of Pittsburgh student and has been around Oakland since the late Fall but I've managed to miss seeing it on a daily basis despite living 5 minutes away from Pitt's campus. Luckily today my friend Jeff spotted it and sent me a text to let me know it was parked in a lot on campus. I grabbed my camera and jumped in the car and headed a few streets over as fast as I could. I'm so happy to have finally seen it, thanks again Jeff!!

I found this cute vintage egg basket on Etsy a while back, and I've been wanting to use it so bad! This is from a session a couple weeks ago - little Olivia, went from one prop to another - without even opening one eye!

Finally got to use the camera in 2016 ~ Ogwr

Good morning everyone. And as the title indicates, I finally got some pics of a Red-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta Canadensis). Been a long time coming since I first spotted one a little over a month ago.

The day this was taken three appeared, but only briefly together. Plus with the colder temps they are now visiting daily. But you need to be there at the right time with camera in-hand when they do. Plus very patient as they are hyper little birds and rarely ever sit still for long.

Just two pics of the same bird on different tree limbs, of which the second one can be found in the comment section and my stream. And while it's difficult to differentiate between gender, I'm pretty sure this is a male.

Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you have a truly great day and weekend.

Finally the weather was fairly good on a weekend. I got a chance to go shooting. Teamed up with Skarpi and my wife and we went to the Borgarfjörður area. Out objective was to shoot mountain scapes near Skarðsheiði but cloudy weather covered all the peaks. We drove further inland to a beautiful area near Húsfell. Instead of stopping at the popular Hraunfossar waterfall (would have stopped there 2-3 weeks ago when the foliage colors where at peak) we drove even further to a river that I had previously spotted while driving over Kaldidalur mountain pass.

The cold weather of fall has changed the usual brown color of the glacier rivers to a much nicer blue color. The narrow gorge recently cut through a lava field was really interesting as was the color contrast between the cold water and the warm colors of the sky.

Here decided on a average exposure length of 2 seconds which created a sense of motion while still keeping the nice structures in the water visible.

Finally got a somewhat close shot!

Am getting a few ripe tomatoes, mostly the small salad ones.

Finally got my own Logo Hat and Hoody. Never too old to wear them. Being in my young 70's of age they are the new teenage years. national geographic Your Shot wouldn't post their Iconic log hat to my UK address so I made up my own Logo and here it is BjT (my initials) My Shot. Well if I couldn't have Your Shot I was going to have My Shot on my hat and hoody! oh and it was embroidered too by a UK company. Awesome gear!

After many years of visiting Anglesey I was beginning to think that the claim of Red Squirrels on the island was a tourist marketing ploy.

But no, they do actually exist and finally got a shot to prove it! It isn't my finest shot but hey, it'll do.

I don't normally shoot star trails this long as I usually nearly die of boredom waiting for the sequence to finish. But when you're in good company with high quality banter, the time just flies by!

No, not my first day out sailing this season, but the first "camera-friendly" day!

Finally got my CB loot, it was sadly delayed a couple of days, but I'm super satisfied and happy with my order. It was an extremely intense and fun day, but I only lost one fig in my cart. :D

So here it is, also those head crates are <3

Tell me what y'all think. God bless!

Oto out

Not too common these days to get a Pan Am EMD and the sun to come out lately. While on my way up to New Hampshire I got word FI-1 was in Ayer and would be heading back to Fitchburg. As they left Hill Yard I headed over to Shirley and the clouds broke just as GP40 #381 and it’s 10 cars rolled around the bend. Photo taken June14, 2019 Shirley, MA

Finally, some spring flowers, and it's almost May.

Winter is finally here and this Common Raven appears to be practicing for the ski jump. The Raven has the position nailed; feathers back, head forward, claws close and parallel! Of course I don't know where the birds have their Olympics up here but I'd love to watch!

Good morning guys! Today is a big day because finally we reveal you our Lego® Ideas project we worked on since January! 🌟🌟🌟

Help us to make this idea real, supporting this project here! 😍

This project features a highly detailed replica of the iconic 1968 Fiat 500 F! Produced from 1957 to 1975 the Cinquecento is considered one of the first real city cars.

Consisting of 1157 pieces (all add-ons included) this model would be the ultimate for any fan of the Italian legend and definitely a great addition to any Lego collection.

This summer I finally had a chance to see some puffins in real life on the island of Hornøya on the east coast of northern Norway. It had been on my bucketlist for a while already.

Honestly, I expected these cute birds to be the size of a big sturdy chicken, but to my surprise they were the size of little bantams instead. Aww :)

Eventhough they look kind of quirky in resting mode, it was impressive to see these birds in action. They are so incredibly fast, diving from the rocks and soaring across the sea. They can even swim underwater, 100% adapted to this particular environment.

I saw some razorbills, guillemots and large cormorants on this island as well. It was wonderful to see their feathers up clothes.

At first, I wasn't sure how I would feel about invading their space, but luckily it didn't seem to bother them too much. Obviously they see people all the time. A strange situation, but wow, what an experience!

I used 5 lenses to shoot the comet and the best was the 50mm f1.8... again this lens amazes me!!

Mons

Nouvelle gare | New station

---------------

Located near the centre of the city of Mons, the station was opened in 1841 by the Belgian State Railways and has been rebuilt three times since then.

The third building, which dated from 1952, was demolished in 2013 to be gradually replaced by a new station, designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava; the budget, planned at 37 million euros in 2006, reached 480 million in 2024 (at the end of the construction), i.e. 13 times the initial amount.

In August 2023, the end of the work on the new station (originally planned for early 2015) was announced for February 2024. In May 2024, the construction site "neared its end".

The new station was finally opened on 18 December 2024 and will be inaugurated on 31 January 2025.

Finally now posting pics from May, starting with 43272 at North Staffs junction. Working was the 3Q52 2356 Doncaster West Yard - Derby RTC test train via Sheffield, Stockport & Chester 1/5/25.

After having to wait for over 2 hours for a conductor to finally arrive, CSX L810 departs Cedartown after working GEO Specialty Chemicals, as seen here as they cross the diamond with Norfolk Southern’s Cedartown District. The reason for the massive delay is a bit unique to this line. Due to union agreements, because this subdivision is former SCL territory & the crews for it would have been based out of Birmingham back when it the whole line between Birmingham & Atlanta was still connected, this local is still manned by “SCL crews” that are based out of Birmingham, even though Cartersville is the official on duty-off duty location. Normally, this isn’t much of a fuss in part because the regular guys that hold it live fairly close & CSX gives whoever works it an extra $100-plus per day for working it as travel reimbursement essentially. This week, however, the regular conductor that holds it was on vacation, so they were having to pull from the extra board for conductors & on this day, they weren’t able to finally get a conductor out of Birmingham to Cartersville until sometime after 9am. This was annoying for me since I had to be at work that afternoon, thus resulting in a short chase for me, but at least a bunch of others had the chance to get it as a result of its late departure. 10-12-23

Finally had some sun to work with on a Sunday morning. Found this recently shed buck feeding in the prairie just as the sun rose over the snowy prairie behind him.

Bartel Grassland

Been chasing this guy for months but he's always been too far, even with my telephoto. Finally, as I walked out the door to the deck, there he was, as close as he's ever been on a bush branch, seemingly ready for his close up.
