So this weekend I'm finally going fishing. It's the first time this summer. I don't know where the summer went, but I'm excited to go this weekend. Got all my gear out and ready to go. Fish beware!
Please hit the letter L and view this large.
Ah... Finally feeling better.
Mentally atleast.
I feel physically drained though. xD
Ah well.
Nothing a good weekend can't fix.

There were so many photgraphers when I arrived at sunrise this morning it was a challenge finding a place to stand. For the past two weeks I have been hoping to get a frontal, full open wing shot of one of the adults as they returned to the nest. Got lucky this morning due to a wind change that caused them to make a banking turn when they came in from the west.....thanks for looking and I always appreciate your comments

Finally made it back to Dallas! I may not know how to behave, but I know I got my money right!!!
(Video is also on my youtube at youtube.com/diamondgirlzfancy)
Equipped with the D80, tripod, an umbrella and a huge amount of feel-good and humor we went out to play in the snow last night :-)
Finally I was able to identify this species as Oncidium cavendishianum. The inflorescence was a key element to determine its name. Onc cavendishianum produces a "lateral paniculate, many flowered inflorescence", to quote Hamer, while Onc bicallosum produce a "simple raceme sometimes a branched panicle of yellow flowers".

We stopped in to visit Chance this evening and as I peeked my head into his dark room I could see his itty bitty eyes open...it made my day!
Ron worked this weekend, too, and finally finished the gold bedroom. Sometimes I look at his work and I'm amazed.
(I know, the floor there is kinda bad.)
With New York's daytime temperatures now in the 50s, and crocuses blooming in our Orient garden, I am declaring "Spring is Here!" Honeybees believe it.
After years of trying to decide which e-book reader to choose, I finally chose Amazon's Kindle. I love it!
My only problem is finishing the paperback I started...I so want to read on this instead!
Day 2:
It's a day which started well and ended very nicely :)
We spent the night before in Kanda. Headed out early to go to a 100yen shop at Akihabara before catching our reserved bullet train, embarking on our "quest for sakura" journey.
We found the 100yen shop alright and saw tonnes of goodies there but decided to do the shopping spree when we returned to Tokyo on Day 7 (where I encountered the middle-aged Cosplay phenomenon
Since 8vee never tried "standing soba", so we grabbed our breakfast at one right in front of akihabara JR station and had an amazing Squid tempura soba *slurp*
And then we bumped into some funky pet and its friendly owner :)
Then went back to the hotel, grabbed our bags and headed north to Kasumigajou Kouen, Nihonmatsu and then to Sendai to check into our hotel before grabbing dinner

At long last, the slipcover is complete! Henry and I raided the fabric stash in our attic and didn't end up buying any additional material; the fabric on the left is from Ikea and was a shower curtain in a former life, the pillow in the middle in covered with a feedsack from my favorite antique mall, and the one on the right is an old pillow sham, converted to work on the sofa cushion. I'm just happy it's finished!

it's only taken a year, but we've finally set up the drums.
I think in the beginning, there were too many parties and the
temptation would have been too huge to be bangin' all late into the night.
as can be seen -- they're right by the window.
they're in the bedroom.
but it felt so good to just pound away, just like old times.
I could really be in for a time-waster there!! :)
one more thing -- it feels SO good!!
love my drummies!!! :)
Not a very good picture, but it somehow captures the mood. Very bittersweet, and Mom was absolutely exhausted. Her and I don't have enough time left together to make as many memories as we have made in this house. Thankfully it is going to be lived in by another young family, not torn down as originally thought. We both have heavy hearts, as well as joyous anticipation for the new beginnings.
