I finished this little sweater a long time ago. I think the calendar may still have read "2007." And then it sat and waited, and waited for buttons. Which I finally added this week, using EZ's "afterthought buttonhole" method, with not entirely satisfactory results. But you can't see how ugly the buttonholes are when it's buttoned up! It's a short cropped sweater, the very bottom is at the bottom of the picture. The idea was to make a fitted, cropped, long-sleeve version of a the green one I did last year.
My first Six-Spot Burnet this year, Zygaena filipendulae, I always look forward to seeing these colourful characters.
Laura and Alex are finally married so I can show these off with out danger of him seeing her beautiful Badgley Mischka dress. Their wedding was so beautiful and I cant wait to show those off in a few days. It was in beautiful sunny Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

D40, insert split-prism screen, works perfectly.
D90, insert split-prism screen, focus way off, fiddle with,scuff screen beyond recognition, get katzeye screen, fiddle with metal shims and 3M tape. Rinse and repeat 8 times; finally get close enough, then do small adjustments using the MF cam under the mirror.
That was a lot harder than it should be.
3/3/08 - Polaroid 680 SE w/ 600 film
After yearning for many, many years, today I finally got a Polaroid 680. A little late in the game I suppose, what with the Polaroid announcement and all, but eh, I don't care, better late than never. And it was a good situation. I'm always hesitant to spend $$ on eBay on cameras that aren't guaranteed, but in my perusal of auctions this morning, I came across one located right here in Santa Fe. So Will and I went out and met the dude, tested the camera, wheeled and dealed, and that was that. Couldn't have asked for more instant gratification! And it is a pretty sweet camera. I am a happy girl. Blurry perhaps, but happy.
The weather outside is still blustery and cold,

Madeleine finally gets some recognition in the town of her birth. Long overdue.
In recent years, the building has been used by Sandwell College. They vacated the building in 2012, moving to a new, purpose-built building close to Dartmouth Square.
Weather and train lined up for me to catch the snazzy pair of UP SD59MX's on their Proviso to Bensenville transfer. Witness G39 easing down 3 lead for the IHB and Proviso Yard seen here at Franklin Park, IL. In essence, this train will make a big 6 mile U-turn to get to the old C&NW yard from here!
I finally got a new air compressor this week.
I decided, since I got a hole in ye old wallet. I might as well get something I really need..For once!
Hopefully this will last a few years, before it spring an air leak that can't be fixed.
In this period I have to face myself. With different images and different perspectives. But I do still love me a lot. I guess I'm finally knowing myself for real. And I'm not scaring anymore of what I'll find.
I've been away a while folks, sorry. My latest find is a GP-25 replica made by Lancer Tactical. Fullmetal, except for polymer short pistol grip. It comes with a grenade sighter, as well as a 19round Grenade.

Uiteindelijk Sing&Swing uit Coevorden gevonden, een gemengd (60 leden) en zeer enthousiste koor en vorige week een repetitie avond bijgewoond.Gisterenavond eerst een stemtest (bariton) en de repetitie meegedraait; er valt nog veel te leren, maar ik ga er voor [zal m'n tijd drastisch moeten beperken op Flickr ;-) ]

That commuter was a nice catch, but where was the Chief, it should have been here a good ten minutes ago! I was beginning to worry that it was being held for connections (a not unusual occurrence) meaning that the NYC train was being held even later! I am beginning to believe that railfanning would probably be a great hobby for conspiracy theorists! It turned out that I was worrying about nothing because a few minutes later someone with a scanner reported that the NYC train had been given a go to head east. Good news except that the Fairview crossovers were set to switch it from M2 to M3, making an already dicey light situation even worse! With a distinct feeling of déjà vu I trooped west across Fairview Ave to set up where I could catch the action while it was still on M2, just like I’d done with my very first train of the day.

....I saw the end of the driveway this morning! My Daughter and I in the car on the way to the city for a few groceries. Exactly two months since I was last out. Chattered all the way, commenting on a few things that were different since the last trip. Up the freeway to the Co-op store, stopped at Mickey-D's for a drink on the way back and home in time for lunch. It was nice.
It only took me two years, but I finally made it through my collection of shots from the Goo Goo Dolls concert that I treated myself to for my birthday back in 2010.
I've seen these guys perform every time they come to central Illinois since I was in high school, covering all points of their modern career, and I can honestly say that they are true musicians. Even when the crowd doesn't stand by them or tunes out, these guys are up there playing and dragging the crowd right along with them.
You can't attend one of their shows without becoming an instant fan if you weren't already. They always put on a solid show and they always bring the greatest energy of most of the bands I've seen (and that's quite a few). I'm glad I got the opportunity to capture these boys through my lens.
P.S. I'm not ashamed to admit this, but I grew my hair out in college and got highlights in order to look like Johnny Rzeznik... Let me just say that it didn't work as well as I thought it was going to!
The wraps finally came off the renovation of Museum subway station at a grand opening today. Amidst the coming and going of subway trains and riders, a large group of press and luminaries, penned in by watchful officials, gathered. Mayor David Miller praised the project as "a shining example of what our public spaces can be." While there has certainly been criticism of the project and its funding, it's hard to not find the finished columns quite irresistible and fun.
The five different columns represent First Nations, Ancient Egypt, Mexico's Toltec Culture, Chinese, and Ancient Greek styles.
