The sun was just over the horizon when I took this shot as you can see by my long shadow. Luckily this field hadn't been harvested yet.
Every year when they start injecting water to the rice field, i get a bit shocked to see that the field becomes the ''sea'' just in one night. i'm surprised to see that they put water in the field almost on the top of the hill. It is interesting to figure out how they get the water.

After my failed attempt at a decent heather shot I lugged the camera gear and tripod up to Charterhouse this evening while out with the dogs...
After a decent walk the dogs were knackered enough to lie at my feet while I shot the sun going down over the beautiful field of gorse in flower!
As always I shot a few 'standard shots' of the lovely sky before sliding in the 10 stop Lee Big Stopper and taking a few LEs - it is always the long exposures I prefer!
Feeling a bit daring I decided to break a few 'rules' for a change :) shooting in portrait, (something I rarely do) and ignoring the rule of thirds as in this instance I decided the sky and the flowering gorse complimented each other equally...

Lee 0.9 soft grad ND filter, Hitech 0.9 hard grad ND filter, (6 stops of light reduction for the the sky, hence the rapid fall off 'vignette' in the sky away from the sun!) and the Big Stopper were used for the shot, edited in LR5 then passed through Nik dfine noise reduction and Nik output sharpener...

This was an interesting find. Huge sunflower fields on the road to Wailua near the Haleiwa cutoff. It looks like they're about to harvest soon so who knows how long it'll be there. If it's not raining over the weekend I'll probably try this same shot with a sunset behind that mountain. I brought my tripod but forgot the piece that screws into the bottom of the camera, so I had to just rest the camera on the tripod to take this. I won't make that mistake again.
7 exposure HDR created in Photomatix. Used the -2 exposure to correct some halos in the sky. Added a layer for curves, saturation, and applied a light unsharp mask.
The beautiful Northamptonshire countryside near Oundle in the north-east of the county is gently rolling farmland interspersed with small woods and copses. The yellow oilseed rape around the edge of the field has naturally re-seeded itself from a previous crop. Apparently, it is the third-largest source of vegetable oil and second-largest source of protein meal in the world.

The first full day of a workshop with my brother and Randall Sanger Photography, we visited the Second Falls of Graveyard Fields. We had not been there long when the rain started, and it soon became heavy enough that we had to pack up leave. This is an HDR image. Four exposures were merged in HDR Efex Pro 2. Final adjustments were made to the merged image in Lightroom and Color Efex Pro 4.
The snow geese are back, and they can be heard for miles at the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary Delta BC Canada
