Makes me sad we call them LadyBirds, for all the Boy ones out there.. must be pretty upsetting :s
The rice about to be harvested.
Bali rice grows tall and lush - probably because in each of the small thatched huts you can see, lives a cow! The (poor!) cow stands, eats and sleeps in this hut and goes nowhere until it is time for them to plough the fields for the next crop. They are fed cut foliage twice a day and the 'manure' is collected - and added to the irrigation system. They are virtually live fertilizer manufacturing units. Special people are assigned to tend the cows. A water conduit is seen in the foreground.

The title seems like an oxymoron but the best Irish light often comes from skies like this. With quick changing light, the sky over the Burren looks threatening but the rain never came.

Field burn. It's a tightly controlled burn by farmers. The ash from the burn will fertilize the ground.
This field burn lasted only about 15-20 minutes. It goes fast I guess it creates some kind of firestorm. The farmers start the fire all around the field and then it burns towards the center of the field and burns itself out.
As always this light painting was created within one single exposure and was not digitally manipulated afterwards.

An ancient salt mill near the salt fields of Trapani (Sicily), where salt is harvested from sea water.
Last Saturday is still so fresh in my mind. It was one of my better days of nothing but outside, hiking, and shooting. This was taken about an hour before sunset; no light to be found.

It's been quite some time since I last shot any landscape stuff as I've been busy shooting weddings and engagements.
I had a trip out to the fields only a short walk from the house a few weeks ago to shoot sunset, but it ended up not living up to much! To save coming home with an empty memory card, I thought I shoot with a shallow depth of field for a change.
This was shot with the D800e and the rather special Nikon, 85mm f/1.4G @ f/3.5.
I really liked the softness it gave to the image, along with the nice light in the foreground and background - turned out much better than I initially thought it would.
