The CFS exhibit hall continues to expand as new technologies are put on display. #NATCACFS2019 features many current modernization programs with a presence in the exhibit hall, and in most cases, the exhibits are staffed by our NATCA Article 114 Reps and their FAA program management counterparts. We strongly encourage all CFS attendees to take the time to walk through our exhibit hall and spend some time conversing with our Reps, program managers, and sponsors about some of the current and upcoming technologies that will impact everyone’s careers. www.natca.org/index.php/cfs-spon-exhib

This series of photos covers a half day tramp through the unique Mt Somers walks area on the edge of the Canterbury plains, and the gateway to the Ashburton lakes district.
Features along the track include historic coalmines, impressive volcanic formations, soaring rhyolite cliffs, tussock lands, deep river canyons and rugged bush country.
Mt Somers is mineral rich including coal mining, silica sand, amazing limestone formations, and has a fascinating and ancient geological history. The beech forest around it is ancient, ahving survived ice ages and burning by Maori and European settlers. There's even hot springs for the weary tramper!
This lovely necklace features red silver leaf jasper beads and a pendant that has been carefully hand-wrapped in reclaimed sterling silver wire. It is finished with an authentic Bali silver toggle clasp.
Reminiscent of silvery leaves in a forest, this finely colored and patterned jasper contains shades of cream and black, bits of brown and, occasionally, hints of red. Its patterns tend to be in lines and bands.
Bali silver is handcrafted by talented silversmiths throughout the the island of Bali, a small island in the Indonesian archipelago, which is renowned for its artistic and cultural heritage.
For centuries, Balinese artists have perfected their skills. Communities specialize in specific artistic traditions that are passed down from generation to generation. As a result, these silversmiths display superb technique and immense patience. Each bead is carefully made with exquisite detail. Every silver dot is individually placed, every surface patterned by hand. Each bead is a work of art, and no two are exactly alike.
{Measurements}
Please be sure to take note of the sizes that are carefully listed here as items will appear larger on your computer monitor than they actually are.
* The silver leaf jasper puff coins are 12mm in diameter, and the entire necklace is approximately 17 inches (43.18cm) in length.
* The Owyhee picture jasper piece is about 25mm, or 1 inch in diameter, making the entire pendant hang just over an inch from the Bali silver toggle clasp.

We got this leaflet from the satellite TV company Digital + which explains the new features that are available to us from this month. The leaflet is of course all in Spanish.
Now I understand most of it including the fact that we should now be able to program the box to record all the programmes in a series at one go - clever stuff.
In order to access this facility, I need to activate Digital + Propone from the guide menu. That is where it breaks down because Digital + Propone does not appear in the guide on our screen.
Maybe, when Digital + say that these features will be available from November they don't mean the beginning of the month. Perhaps this is another case of mañana!
Ken Burns
The LBJ Presidential Library and Austin PBS station KLRU-TV hosted a screening of the upcoming PBS documentary series THE VIETNAM WAR on Thursday, April 27, in the LBJ Auditorium. The viewing was followed by a conversation with Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, who co-directed the Vietnam film, and former LBJ Library Director Mark K. Updegrove.
THE VIETNAM WAR is a 10-part, 18-hour documentary film series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick that will premiere on PBS and KLRU on Sept. 17, 2017. In an immersive 360-degree narrative, Burns and Novick tell the epic story of the Vietnam War as it has never been told on film. THE VIETNAM WAR features testimony from nearly 100 witnesses, including many Americans who fought in the war and others who opposed it, as well as Vietnamese combatants and civilians from both the winning and losing sides.

Outdoor Garden Water Feature Fountain - Features / Fountains
Garden fountains are beautiful outdoor water accents. Outdoor fountains are used in public parks, gardens, yards, patios and decks. The most traditional design is a tiered waterfall with multiple levels where the water cascades down many levels of stone. A garden fountain is very dramatic and has a high degree of water noise and motion due to the water becoming airborne and crashing into the lower level pool below. The water finds it's way into the pool at the bottom and is taken back to the top again by a powerful water pump to begin it's journey anew. Some famous artists and sculptors have created garden water features which add life and elegance to their sculptures. Today craftsmen and increased knowledge have made available garden fountains for private residences.
To get out of my malaise, my wife suggested that I do a bit of a walk around of Civic with my camera.
These are the photos I captured.
Indoor Tabletop Water Fountain Feature - Fountains / Features
A tabletop fountain is a great home accent and they will bring a sense of serenity to your indoor space. The water and natural elements bring a little bit of nature indoors. Our indoor tabletop fountains are made with hand thrown ceramic, copper, stainless steel and natural elements such as slate, gemstones, crystals and bamboo. The features made of semi precious stones often include a rotating object on the fountain such as a crystal sphere which rotates using water pressure, bringing movement to the table fountain which is both interesting and soothing to watch. Table fountains are ideal accents for small rooms and office desks where space is a concern. They easily fit into small spaces such as the corner of a desk, a bedroom table, mantle, around door entryways and coffee tables.
Dissolutional feature, or - as I like to call them - a "pseudo-cave", set in the Devonian aged Columbus Limestone.
This is not a true cave! Many would be tempted to call it that, but it does not qualify as a cave by definition. The definition of a true cave is a void in bedrock that an adult human can fit into and that goes beyond the twilight zone, meaning that no sunlight reaches it. This pocket only goes about ~4.5 meters back and sunlight does reach that far back.
This is known as a "karst" feature. Karst is landscape that is underlain by carbonates and is eroded by dissolution that results in sinkholes, caves, etc ....
These features are common in the Columbus Limestone, including true caves (just not here). The Columbus Limestone is a light-colored gray or brown, fossiliferous, thick to massive bedded limestone that is mainly a wackestone, but varies to a packstone in some areas where there are a large number of fossils packed in to one area (this is also known as a fossil "hash"). The uppermost part, shown here, also contains a bone bed of phosphoric fish bones. The Columbus Eifelian age of the early Middle Devonian.
This unit is subdivided into three members. From upper to lowermost, they are the Delphi, Eversol, and Bellepoint Members. These are further subdivided into sub-members named from letters A-H (going from lower to upper). This dissolution is preferential to the contact of sub-members G and H. This is due to the deposition of the Tioga Ash Bed at this interval. This ash bed is a marker for the Middle Devonian and can be a named unit due to its thickness in other area. At this locality, it occurs below the formation's contact with the overlying Delaware Limestone, though it can also occur at the contact of other, equivalent formations of the same age.
Stratigraphy: Delphi Member of the Columbus Limestone, Eifelian Stage, early Middle Devonian.

See my video tour of the SS Great Britain here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVpQefxsaXA
SS Great Britain is a museum ship and former passenger steamship, which was advanced for her time. She was the longest passenger ship in the world from 1845 to 1854. She was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the Great Western Steamship Company's transatlantic service between Bristol and New York. While other ships had been built of iron or equipped with a screw propeller, Great Britain was the first to combine these features in a large ocean-going ship. She was the first iron steamer to cross the Atlantic, which she did in 1845, in the time of 14 days.

Samsung Car Museum features a field of, well, old cars painted silver.. first thought was "tacky!".. though with a second glance really enjoyed the odd art of it all.. (Outside of Seoul, near Everland in Icheon)
Galway features a number of interlocking waterways which pass through the city and they have played a major role in its development as an industrial town.
The waterway system is a bit complicated and I am still trying to determine the names of all of the streams, mill races and canals. If my description is incorrect you are invited to correct me as necessary.
The Eglington Canal in Galway was built c.1850. It follows a curving path south from inflow from River Corrib Upper and passes under five bridges which have made watercourse non-navigable.
The canal begins to north of Salmon Weir on west bank of Corrib River (upper) where a small harbour is located.
The canal then proceeds south-west splitting into two separate waterways with the main canal continuing to south-west and a shorter but but equally substantial branch proceeding south beneath a road bridge and a modern pedestrian bridge and it the past this branch would have serviced a collection of mills which are built surrounding a small harbour at end of the branch.
The main canal continues south-west before curving back around to continue south-east after passing beneath two recent concrete road bridges. The Canal at these points is narrowed by about two metres eliminating need for more complex structures.
Between these two bridges is second branch which follows a south-easterly route before re-entering the canal south of lock basin via a stone-lined channel.
The lock basin has limestone block lining with limestone coping blocks, timber lock gates and box. One set of gates has been removed and the flow of canal is now regulated by the remaining gate and sluice racks to north of lock basin. The canal then continues to south-east before splitting again with south-east branch passing under William O'Brien Bridge and into Claddagh Quay and second branch travelling roughly north-east before re-entering River Corrib (lower) after passing over stone-lined weir.

The kit features a curious mechanism whereby the ticket is dispensed forward when the holder is pulled open.
The box features a patented sliding mechanism by Burgopack. Manufactured by Aries Packaging (South Africa) under license from Burgopack (UK).
The kit includes a stadium hospitality programme, match specific pin and wrist band. The overall quality of the kit is quite good, but the artwork for the pin and wristband appear to be raster based – which makes them look like cheap knockoffs.
Some serious effort and design has gone into this kit and opening mechanism – which appears to have flown under the radar of FIFA's Green Goal programme.
The typeface used here is Menyaka, a custom typeface designed exclusively for FIFA by South African Typographic Designer, Jan Erasmus.
Jan is also responsible for the Nando's typeface.

This is a photograph from the third annual running of the Fr. Murphy Athletic Club 10KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Kildalkey, Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland on Easter Sunday April 16th 2017 at 11:30. This road race also features the Meath 10KM Road Race Championships which is open to entry from any athlete who is a full member of a Meath AAI club. The race starts and finishes in the village of Kildalkey and follows a right handed rural route out towards Rathcormick, Ballivor and Moyrath before returning on the same 2KM as the start which runners will easily remember as a long straight stretch of road. The route brings the runners through beautiful Meath Countryside on low-traffic country roads.
The conditions were reasonably good for road running. The first few kilometers seen runners tackle a very stiff breeze and cool dry conditions. However at around 6KM where the race turns back towards Kildalkey the breeze became a more favourable tail wind. While we say that this is the 3rd annual running of this race it is actually the 10KM version of the traditional annual 5 Mile road race which was promoted by the Fr. Murphy athletic club in the past. Traditionally this five mile races held in Athboy on St. Patrick's Day, then Ballivor before a move to Kildalkey on Easter Sundays. There was approximately 260 participants in the race with a very large support from athletics clubs in Meath.

I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?
Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Indoor Waterfall Water Feature Fountain - Features / Waterfalls / Fountains
Indoor waterfalls dramatically improve ambiance by bringing the sights and sounds of a modern waterfall into your home or office. The sound of indoor fountains are associated with beautiful nature settings, peaceful vacations and meditative tranquility. An indoor waterfall can provide many health benefits as well. The flow of water captures airborne particles and dust from the air. The slow evaporation of water releases beneficial negative ions into the air and acts as a natural humidifier. For more sensitive environments or healthcare settings we offer a line of indoor fountains incorporating specialized precautions against bacteria and microorganisms. These options include Saniguard coatings, ultraviolet light sterilization systems and reverse osmosis systems.
