The "Oriole" is replica of a Great Lakes steamship, she serves as a tour boat. She features 2 decks, upper is an open air sightseeing deck and below is a dining room. The size of the boat is 21 m long and 7 m wide, MMSI 316044324.

The romantic castle complex with its keep built around 1200 has a varied history of ownership. Bought in 1844 by the Neuchâtel-Prussian count family de Pourtalès and converted into a summer residence, the castle acquired its present appearance. Since 1954, a museum has been set up inside, which traces the history of the former inhabitants.
The main focus is on the 19th century and the count family who owned the castle at that time. The museum covers both the lords and the servants who lived under the same roof. Their sleeping chambers have been restored and are open to the public since 2017. The former castle kitchen is also newly accessible and can be experienced in an interactive presentation.
At the top of the tower is the Oriental smoking salon commissioned by Count Pourtalès, which conveys a unique atmosphere and offers a spectacular view over the lake and the mountains.
The castle chapel dates from the 15th century and features impressive wall paintings.
The castle park of Oberhofen is one of the most magnificent gardens in the Alpine region. With its striking groups of trees, exotic shrubs, a shady arbor and colorful flower beds, the historic landscape garden is an ideal oasis for relaxing and enjoying.

Thruscross is a hamlet in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England. It lies in the Washburn Valley, 11 miles west of Harrogate. The parish includes Thruscross Reservoir and a large area of moorland west of the reservoir
The Château de Pierrefonds is a majestic and beautiful palace which has weathered the whims of kings for hundreds of years and is certain to be a favorite of any Paris visitor.
Original built by Philippe d' Orléans in the 15th century and demolished on the order of Louis XIII in the 17th century. 200 years later Napoleon III ordered that Château de Pierrefonds be rebuilt as an imperial residence. This work was undertaken by one of the greatest designers of the day-Viollet-le-Duc, and it is often cited as his greatest work.
The Château de Pierrefonds features a permanent exhibition of the masterpieces of 19th century ornamentation produced by the Monduit workshops. These expert craftsmen restored a wealth of historical monuments, worked extensively for the Great Exhibitions of 1889 and 1900, and helped to create the Statue of Liberty.

Autumn, also known as Fall in American English and Canadian English, is one of the four temperate seasons. Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere). Autumn is the season when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Day length decreases and night length increases as the season progresses until the Winter Solstice in December (Northern Hemisphere) and June (Southern Hemisphere). One of its main features in temperate climates is the striking change in colour for the leaves of deciduous trees as they prepare to shed.

The robin features prominently in British folklore and that of northwestern France, but much less so in other parts of Europe. It was held to be a storm-cloud bird and sacred to Thor, the god of thunder, in Norse mythology. But this one was quietly waiting for me in the Jardins de Bagatelle.

Double Arch is a close-set pair of natural arches, one of the more known features of Arches National Park in Utah, United States. From the Double Arch parking area it's a 0.5 mile round trip to the arches. There are no guardrails or fences to prevent visitors from exploring directly beneath and through the arches.

The fumaroles at Steamboat Point are the first major thermal features a visitor will encounter when entering Yellowstone National Park from the East Entrance. Fumaroles are vents or openings at the surface where volcanic gases and vapors are emitted. Faint to loud roars and hissing can be heard as the gas escapes the vent. Most of the vapor emitted by fumaroles is steam, formed as groundwater circulates deeply through heated rock. The water vapor mixes with volcanic gases given off by magma deep below in Yellowstone’s caldera. These volcanic gases include sulfur compounds, such as various sulfur oxides and hydrogen sulfide which accounts for the sulfur or “rotten egg smell” visitors may notice. There are no geysers that erupt water here. The fumaroles at Steamboat Point are some of the thermal features associated with the Marys Bay hydrothermal explosion crater that forms this rounded bay on the northeast side of Yellowstone Lake. There are several such hydrothermal explosion craters scattered across Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. They range from tens of feet to more than a mile across. This one at Marys Bay is not only the largest hydrothermal explosion crater documented in Yellowstone but it is also the largest in the world. It measures 1.5 miles (2.6 km) in diameter and forms an embayment on the north side of Lake Yellowstone. The crater, which formed 13,800 years ago, may have been the result of several separate explosions over a short period of time. The cause or trigger for these hydrothermal explosions are not fully understood but pressure release due to glacial melting, earthquakes, or rapid changes in lake levels could be significant factors. Geological studies have found that these large, violent hydrothermal events are independent of associated volcanism. In the past 16,000 years, none of these events have been followed by an eruption of magma. The deeper magma systems seen unaffected by these sometimes spectacular steam explosions in their overlying hydrothermal systems.

Here is another garage shot, this time of the Paul Castaldini raced 1962 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Low Drag Coupe that appears to be a copy of the "49 FXN" car that features the long nose that was prototyped for Le Mans.
The unusual shade of green was eye catching under the garage lights, and makes a change from the silver of the FXN cars.

The church is a modest building that reflects the typical features of Romanian architecture: domed domed tower-domed, trilobated plant and porch on the façade. On the front opens the beautiful marble porch with five polychrome arcades supported by columns from the rich capitals resting on a fine travertine balustrade with vegetable and zoomorphic motifs. The arcade module continues, blind, across the entire outline of the building, above it runs a marble cornice with floral motifs that separate it from the top. The latter is decorated by a gouge frescoed with foliage and rhymed by medallions bearing the figures of Saints. It is accessed through a small nook, domed, separated by grooved marble columns.

Ha Long Bay features over 1,600 limestone karsts and islets rising dramatically from emerald-green waters. These formations, shaped by 500 million years of geological evolution, are dotted with caves, grottoes, and secluded beaches.
The name “Ha Long” translates to “Descending Dragon”, derived from a local legend. According to the tale, a dragon descended from the heavens to protect Vietnam from invaders, creating the bay’s rocky islands by thrashing its tail.
On the roof of the boat you may notice three animated drone operators who are ecstatic over a perfect sunrise. One of the sunrises I will never forget.
Valley of Fire State Park is a public recreation and nature preservation area covering nearly 46,000 acres (19,000 ha) located 16 miles (26 km) south of Overton, Nevada. The state park derives its name from red sandstone formations, the Aztec Sandstone, which formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays.[5] It is Nevada's oldest state park, as commemorated with Nevada Historical Marker #150. It was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1968.
Valley of Fire is located 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Las Vegas.

The park features horticultural exhibits with a pond, falls, bridge, trees and flower beds. As you progress deeper into the park, native plants, ferns and trees dominate and create a wilderness escape full of birds, animals, trees and trails.

This garden of remembrance features gates with gold lettering and a memorial plinth inscribed to the dead of the 22nd Cheshire Regiment who lost their lives in World War 2.
The Memorial Garden is location in the south-east corner of the Cathedral close, between the church and the bell tower. Within the garden are many 18th/19th-century memorials. Within the garden there are two focal points – a giant cruciform geoglyph with the regimental insignia at its centre, and an altar-like memorial, a cenotaph, commemorating the Second World War dead. They are linked by a central path.
The garden has many memorials including benches commemorating local veterans’ associations of the regiment, and others bearing individual memorials. The bell tower itself has a memorial inscription, commemorating its opening.

Phoenix Creek Sink: We can see the water sinking underground here. Scientists have tested the water and know that this is the same stream we saw spring up at Pottruff Spring.
It is difficult to guess the course the water took to get from here to there because it travels underground and we cannot see it flow. But, we can look at the evidences of water on the surface and make hypotheses.
One way scientists can tell if water has flown underground is by checking the water’s temperature. In the summer, the spring water will be colder than water from a surface stream because the sun will not warm it up as it flows underground. In the winter, the spring water will be warmer because the cold air will not have chilled it, as it did the surface water.
I finally managed to get back to the river this week - chasing the last of a fickle summer whose mornings now carry a hint of autumn. Until I get to review these images; here’s one from the same spot I returned to, taken last autumn – they have in common a play with colour and texture, the reflected leaves painted almost as brushstrokes. In this case, I’ve pushed the interpretation during processing towards the abstract, but quite like the result so I guess I’ll just have to print it to see if it makes the mark. Visual Features

Historical Significance
Constructed around 1878–1881 by an unknown carpenter, the staircase became famous for its unusual engineering: it was built without a central supporting pole, nails, or glue, relying instead on wood pegs and inner stringers to bear the weight. Local legend attributes its creation to St. Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters, after the Sisters of Loretto prayed a novena for a way to reach their choir loft.
Historical Context: Built in the 1870s and inspired by the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, this Roman Catholic chapel was commissioned for the Sisters of Loretto and their girls' school, Loretto Academy. It is most famous for its helical "Miraculous Staircase" that leads up to the choir loft. Today, the chapel serves as a museum and popular wedding venue.

History
The staircase was built sometime between 1877 and 1881.[4] By this point, the chapel was substantially complete but still lacking access to the choir loft, possibly due to the unexpected death of the architect, Projectus Mouly, in 1879.[12]
According to the version of events passed down by the Sisters of Loretto, multiple builders were consulted but were not able to find a workable solution due to the confined quarters. In response, the nuns prayed for nine straight days to Saint Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters. On the last day of the novena, a mysterious stranger appeared and offered to build the staircase. He worked alone using only a few simple hand tools and disappeared afterwards without collecting his pay or the Sisters learning his identity. More fantastical versions of the story have the work taking place overnight, while according to others, it took six to eight months.[7][9][13]
The finished staircase was an impressive work of carpentry, seeming to defy physics as it ascended 20 feet (6.1 m) without any obvious means of support. The Sisters of Loretto viewed its construction as a miracle and believed that the mysterious builder must have been Saint Joseph himself. As the story spread, the staircase became one of Santa Fe's most famous tourist attractions.[7]
The staircase as originally built lacked handrails and was reportedly so frightening to descend that some of the nuns and students did so on their hands and knees. Eventually, railings were added in 1887 by another craftsman, Phillip August Hesch. The stairs have been mostly closed to the public since the chapel became a privately run museum in the 1960s.[9]

En el transepto se encuentran dos grandes retablos barrocos. De ellos, originarios de la iglesia de san Juan Bautista, hoy desaparecida, uno es San José obrero con el Niño, obra de Germán López Mejía; y el otro es El Bautismo de Cristo, del artista Alonso de Arco y fechado en 1702. A ambos lados de la nave principal se encuentran comunicadas entre sí sendas hileras de cuatro capillas menores cada una, decoradas profusamente en estilos barroco y rococó. Las capillas del lado noreste del edificio, en orden desde el transepto, están dedicadas a la Virgen de Fátima, a san Francisco Javier, al Santísimo Cristo Crucificado y a san Francisco de Borja. Del lado suroeste se encuentran las dedicadas a la Inmaculada, a la Dolorosa, a san Ignacio de Loyola y al Cristo de los Mártires. En una esquina del templo se encuentra la capilla ochavada en la que se guardan y veneran las reliquias de la iglesia. De paredes oscuras y rojas y coronada por su propia pequeña cúpula, esta capilla alberga además la figura de la Virgen del Socorro, que también es obra de Germán López Mejía. Gobernando la nave tras el altar mayor, la iglesia de San Ildefonso cuenta con un retablo que es una pintura al fresco —realizada por Alejandro y Luis González Velázquez- que presenta trampantojos y que relata la descensión de la Virgen sobre san Ildefonso para la imposición de la casulla. Bajo el retablo de ilusionismo arquitectónico y tras el altar está situado un tabernáculo de madera dorada que presenta una talla de la crucifixión. A lo largo de toda la nave se hallan distribuidas catorce estatuas dedicadas principalmente a los apóstoles y que fueron esculpidas, como uno de los retablos y la Virgen del Socorro, por Germán López Mejía.
La parte exterior de la cúpula, debido a sus dimensiones y a la localización de la iglesia, es unos de los puntos más altos de Toledo, junto a la catedral de Santa María y al alcázar, hacia los que tiene vistas notables, igual que las torres, que son visitables. En una de las torres se pueden ver tres campanas de bronce. En la fachada se pueden observar varios adornos destacables. Sobre la puerta principal original, que aún se conserva, se encuentra un bajorrelieve que representa, igual que el retablo mayor, la descensión de la Virgen sobre san Ildefonso, obra de Diego Rodríguez de Luna. Por encima de él está situada la vidriera, y alrededor de ellos hay cinco estatuas, realizadas por Mattia Carmannini y Félix Bambi, cuyas hornacinas se encuentran flanqueadas por cuatro altas columnas corintias. En la fachada está, en homenaje a los hermanos Pedro y Estefanía Manrique, el escudo de la familia Manrique de Castilla.
En el Ochavo, reposan los restos de Juan de Mariana y Jerónimo de Ripalda, llevados desde el desaparecido Colegio de San Eugenio.
The Church of San Ildefonso is a Baroque-style church located in the center of the historic center of Toledo, Spain. It is also known as the Jesuit Church and is consecrated to Saint Ildefonso of Toledo, patron saint of the city and Father of the Church.
Located between San Román Street and Alfonso XII Street, the church faces northwest-southwest, with its front facade facing Toledo Cathedral. The interior of the church, with its main nave shaped like a Latin cross, is large and white. The nave's high dome over the crossing stands out. In the transept are two large Baroque altarpieces. Of these, originally from the now-vanished Church of San Juan Bautista, one is Saint Joseph the Worker with the Child, a work by Germán López Mejía; and the other is The Baptism of Christ, by the artist Alonso de Arco and dated 1702. On both sides of the main nave are connected rows of four smaller chapels each, profusely decorated in Baroque and Rococo styles. The chapels on the northeast side of the building, in order from the transept, are dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, Saint Francis Xavier, the Most Holy Christ Crucified, and Saint Francis Borgia. On the southwest side are those dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady of Sorrows, Saint Ignatius of Loyola, and Christ of the Martyrs. In one corner of the temple is the octagonal chapel where the church's relics are kept and venerated. With dark red walls and crowned by its own small dome, this chapel also houses the figure of Our Lady of Socorro, also a work by Germán López Mejía. Dominating the nave behind the main altar, the Church of San Ildefonso features a trompe l'oeil altarpiece, a fresco painting by Alejandro and Luis González Velázquez depicting the Virgin's descent upon Saint Ildefonso for the imposition of the chasuble. Beneath the altarpiece, adorned with architectural illusionism and behind the altar, is a gilded wooden tabernacle featuring a carving of the crucifixion. Throughout the nave are fourteen statues dedicated primarily to the apostles, sculpted by Germán López Mejía, including one of the altarpieces and the Virgin of Socorro.
The exterior of the dome, due to its size and the location of the church, is one of the highest points in Toledo, along with the Cathedral of Santa María and the Alcázar, from which it offers remarkable views, as are the towers, which are open to visitors. In one of the towers, three bronze bells can be seen. Several notable decorations can be seen on the façade. Above the original main door, which is still preserved, is a bas-relief depicting, like the main altarpiece, the Descent of the Virgin Mary upon Saint Ildefonso, a work by Diego Rodríguez de Luna. Above it is the stained-glass window, and around them are five statues, made by Mattia Carmannini and Félix Bambi, whose niches are flanked by four tall Corinthian columns. On the façade, in homage to the brothers Pedro and Estefanía Manrique, is the coat of arms of the Manrique family of Castile.
In the Ochavo, the remains of Juan de Mariana and Jerónimo de Ripalda rest, brought from the now-defunct Colegio de San Eugenio.

Temperature 180°F Dimensions 145x191 feet. Depth 23.5 feet. Sunset Lake is a shallow thermal pool with a soft sinter bottom and yellow and orange bacteria and algae edges. The pool discharges into Iron Creek, and overflows into Rainbow Pool creating a large microbial mat between the two thermal features. The 1959 earthquake triggered an eruption of Sunset Lake and the surge of hot water killed the bacteria and algae in the run-off channels. It has erupted only occasionally since 1959; during eruption it surges three feet high but may reach eight to ten feet. No known underground connection exists between Rainbow Pool or other Black Sand Basin thermal features.

A picturesque tall white-harled house on the north side of the junction between Back Causeway and The Cross in Culross (W FIfe), The Study dates from c.1610. This is said to be where Bishop Leighton of Dunblane (1611-84), who lived nearby in Bishop Leighton's House, composed his sermons. Built as a merchant's house, next to Culross Palace one of the finest in Culross, the building was acquired by the National Trust for Scotland in the 1930s. It was renovated by Ian G. Lindsay and Partners in 1959, winning a Civic Trust Award in 1962. The Study is now A-listed and is open to the public for guided tours.
The building is L-plan and comprises a three-storey main block, with a tower facing the street which rises higher. This contains a turnpike stair, with the upper stage corbelled out and containing the actual study. The orange pantiled roofs feature crow-stepped gables and catslide dormers. The windows to the front feature lattice leadwork and wooden shutters below, allowing the windows to open. Inside there are original fireplaces and timber panelling, while the beamed ceiling of the first-floor room is a reconstruction of the 1960s, brightly painted with fruit and flowers in homage to its 17th century forerunner.

The Timekeepers series (2024-2025) features hand-blown glass objects filled with glacial water from Antarctica and Greenland. The water comes from ice that scientists melt to collect data. In Timekeepers, this water preserves itself as a kind of time capsule. Paper certificates show the age of the ice.
