Nakhon Pathom is a small province located just 56 Km's. from Bangkok. The province features an ancient religious structure called Phra Pathom Chedi, the first religious landmark that signified the influx of Buddhism into Thailand. Nakhon Pathom is also renowned for its abundant fruits varieties and famous dishes. Phra Pathommachedi or Phra Pathom Chedi is a Stupa in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. At 120.5 metres ( 395 ft ) it is the second tallest stupa in the world after Jetavanaramaya in Sri Lanka. The Stupa is located in the Wat Phra Pathommachedi Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan a temple in the town centre of Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.
The name Phra Pathommachedi means the first holy stupa, given by king Mongkut. Originally the Stupa named Phra Thom Chedi means the big stupa in ancient Khmer language or the royal stupa in Northern Thai language. One of the common misunderstandings about this stupa is that Phra Pathommachedi is the oldest and the first stupa in Suvarnabhumi, an ancient name of Southeast Asia. Modern Historians believe that the stupa was one of the principal stupas of ancient Nakhon Pathom, the largest settlement of Dvaravati culture in Nakhon Pathom area together with the nearby Phra Prathon Chedi during the 6th to the 8th centuries.
Nakhon Pathom was situated by the sea, the city prospered during the Dvaravati civilisation. According to archaeological findings, Nakhon Pathom was the first city to possess influences of Buddhism and Indian civilisations. From the Phra Pathom Chedi and other remains discovered in the city area, it is believed that the city was a centre of civilisation in that era. People of different races settled in Nakhon Pathom. However, a change in the course of the river caused a draught that forced the people to migrate and settle on the banks of river, and these communities developed into towns. The new town was called Nakhon Chaisi or Sirichai, leaving Nakhon Pathom deserted for hundreds of years until the reign of King Rama IV. While His Majesty was in monk hood, he travelled to Nakhon Pathom and found the Phra Pathom Chedi that he regarded as the largest pagoda of all.
When King Rama IV ascended to the throne, he commanded that a bell shaped Chedi be built to cover the former Chedi. The surrounding area was also renovated and improved. He also commanded that a water canal be dug to ease commuting, which was called Chedi Bucha canal. During the reign of King Rama V, the construction of railways to the south began, at that time Nakhon Pathom was still a heavily forested area. King Rama V also commanded that the town be relocated from Tambon Thana, Amphoe Nakhon Chaisi, to the Phra Pathom Chedi area as it used to be. Nakhon Pathom has been there ever since. During the reign of King Rama VI, a palace was built at Tambon Sanam Chan as a temporary residence on his travels and many roads were constructed. A large bridge was also built over the Chedi Bucha canal, which His Majesty named “Saphan Charoensattha”. Later, he commanded that the name of Nakhon Chaisi be changed to Nakhon Pathom, but the name of the prefecture was still called “Nakhon Chaisi” until the reign of King Rama VII when the calling of the prefecture was ended. Nakhon Chaisi is now one of the districts in Nakhon Pathom.
Nakhon Pathom covers an area of 2,168 square kilometres or 542,081.6 acres. It is divided into seven administrative districts or Amphoe, they are: Amphoe Muang Nakhon Pathom, Amphoe Buddhamonthon, Amphoe Sam Phran, Amphoe Nakhon Chaisi, Amphoe Bang Len, Amphoe Kamphaeng Saen, and Amphoe Don Toom. Most of the areas are plains with no mountainous land, plateau are found in the west east of Amphoe Muang and Amphoe Kamphaeng Saen. The plains along the Tha Cheen River (Nakhon Chaisi River) are the location of Amphoe Nakhon Chaisi, Amphoe Sam Phran, and Amphoe Bang Len. These fertile lands provide agricultural area for people, thus most of the residents earn their living from agriculture; plantations, farming, growing food crops, and fruit orchards. Moreover, Nakhon Pathom is well known for pomelo, some call the Nakhon Pathom the sweet pomelo town.

About one hour drive from Bangkok is the Rose Garden and Cultural Centre. It is situated at Sampran in the Province of Nakhon Pathum. It is a 70 acre site designed to give you a full day out. There is so much to do here. The Restaurant sits on the lake and the food served here is first class you can eat what you like - until you are full, very good value if you are a big eater.The Rose Garden and restaurant were started over 40 years ago and has now included the Cultural Centre and show, a hotel and other restaurants and a spa. Tourist buses usually arrive around 2.0 pm in time for the Thai Cultural Village show at 2.45 pm.
This attraction is usually taken in along with the Damnoen Saduak Floating market trip which is around 1800 Baht by taxi from Bangkok, but do check first, prices do vary. But the Rose Garden is worth a trip on its own, because there is so much to get involved with during the day. In the mornings you can take part in the Living the Thai Culture, an art and craft activity and cost around 500 Baht per person. These included Dancing / Musical Instruments / Garland Making / Fruit Carving / Bamboo Dancing Rice Farming among others.
The Gardens have many exotic flowers and there are some traditional Thai houses. One is used for weddings and another used for a spa centre. Most people go for the Thai Cultural show, with highlights of Thai Martial Art display, and a Traditional Thai wedding display. There is a cast of about 120 people that take part in this display and it is well attended. It is very colourful and impressive to watch, in all around 40 minutes.

For instance, a 0.1° shift moves a laser spot 670 km across the Moon's surface.
Forensic analysis (2022, 2023) of Apollo 11–17 photographs assessed authenticity claims. Images of humans in space, Earth, and the Moon's distant views were validated, but Moon landing visuals showed variations, suggesting diverse techniques may have replicated certain elements.

The Sea Rabbit (Monafluffchus americanus) of Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York – This unique sea-dwelling rabbit, which is actually a close relative of the sea lion, was officially discovered and investigated by Henry Hudson when he first visited this land to colonize the area by order of the Dutch government. It was named New Amsterdam -- today’s New York City. This island was named after he saw the beach covered with strange swimming wild rabbits. The word “Coney Island” means “wild rabbit island” in Dutch (originally Conyne Eylandt, or Konijneneiland in modern Dutch spelling). Sea rabbits were also referred mermaid rabbit, merrabbit, rabbit fish or seal rabbit in the natural history documents in the 17th century. The current conservation status, or risk of extinction, of the sea rabbit is Extinct in the Wild.
This website features two species of sea rabbits, which have been taken care of by Dr. Takeshi Yamada (山田武司) at the Coney Island Sea Rabbit Repopulation Center, which is a part of the Marine biology department of the Coney Island University in Brooklyn, New York. They are – Coney Island Sea Rabbit (Monafluffchus americanus) called “Seara” and Coney Island Tiger-striped Sea Rabbit (Monafluffchus konjinicus) called “Stripes”.
The photographs and videos featured in this website chronicle adventures of the Coney Island sea rabbits and the world as seen by them. This article also documented efforts of Dr. Takeshi Yamada for bringing back the nearly extinct sea rabbits to Coney Island in the City of New York and beyond. Dr. Yamada produced a series of public lectures, workshops, original public live interactive fine art performances and fine art exhibitions about sea rabbits at a variety of occasions and institutions in the City of New York and beyond. Dr. Yamada is an internationally active educator, book author, wildlife conservationist and high profile artist, who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Description of the specimen: In the early 17th century’s European fur craze drove the fleet of Dutch ships to the eastern costal area of America. Then Holland was the center of the world just like the Italy was in the previous century. New York City was once called New Amsterdam when Dutch merchants landed and established colonies. Among them, Henry Hudson is probably the most recognized individual in the history of New York City today. “This small island is inhabited by two major creatures which we do not have in our homeland. The one creature is a large arthropod made of three body segments: the frontal segment resembles a horseshoe, the middle segment resembles a spiny crab and its tail resembles a sharp sword. Although they gather beaches here in great numbers, they are not edible due to their extremely offensive odor. Another creature which is abundant here, has the head of wild rabbit. This animal of great swimming ability has frontal legs resemble the webbed feet of a duck. The bottom half of the body resembles that of a seal. This docile rabbit of the sea is easy to catch as it does not fear people. The larger male sea rabbits control harems of 20 to 25 females. The meat of the sea rabbit is very tender and tasty.” This is what Hadson wrote in his personal journal in 1609 about the horseshoe crab and the sea rabbit in today’s Coney Island area of Brooklyn, New York. Sadly, just like the Dodo bird and the Thylacine, the sea rabbit was driven to extinction by the European settlers’ greed. When Dutch merchants and traders arrived here, sea rabbits were one of the first animals they hunted down to bring their furs to homeland to satisfy the fur craze of the time. To increase the shipment volume of furs of sea rabbit and beavers from New Amsterdam, Dutch merchants also started using wampum (beads made of special clam shells) as the first official currency of this country.
At the North Eastern shores of the United States, two species of sea rabbits were commonly found. They are Coney Island Sea Rabbit (Monafluffchus americanus) and Coney Island Tiger-striped Sea Rabbit (Monafluffchus konjinicus). Sadly, due to their over harvesting in the previous centuries, their conservation status became “Extinct in the Wild” (ET) in the Red List Endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Currently, these sea rabbits are only found at breeding centers at selected zoos and universities such as Coney Island Aquarium and Coney Island University in Brooklyn, New York. The one shown in this photograph was named "Seara" and has been cared by Dr. Takeshi Yamada at Coney Island University.
The sea rabbit is one of the families of the Pinniped order. Pinnipeds (from Latin penna = flat and pes/pedis = foot) are sea-mammals: they are homeothermic (i.e having high and regulated inner temperature), lung-breathing (i.e dependant on atmospheric oxygen) animals having come back to semi aquatic life. As soon as they arrive ashore, females are caught by the nearest adult male. Males can maintain harems of about 20 females on average. Several hours to several days after arriving ashore, pregnant females give birth to eight to ten pups with a dark brown fur. As soon as birth occurs, the mother’s special smell and calls help her pups bond specifically to her. The mother stays ashore with her pup for about one week during which the pup gains weight. During the first week spent with her newborn, the mother becomes receptive. She will be impregnated by the bull, which control the harem. Implantation of the embryo will occur 3 months later, in March-April. During the reproductive period, the best males copulate with several tens females. To do so, males have to stay ashore without feeding in order to keep their territory and their harem. In mid-January, when the last females have been fecundated, males leave at sea to feed. Some of them will come back later in March-April for the moult. The other ones will stay at sea and will come back on Coney Island only in next November. After fecundation, the mother goes at sea for her first meal. At sea, mothers feed on clams, crabs, shrimps, fish (herring, anchovy, Pollock, capelin etc.) and squids. When she is back, the mother recovers her pups at the beach she left them. Suckling occurs after auditive and olfactory recognition had occured. In March-April, the dark brown fur is totally replaced by an adult-like light brownish grey fur during the moult that lasts 1-2 months. This new fur is composed by 2 layers. Externally, the guard fur is composed by flat hairs that recover themselves when wet. By doing so, they make a water-proof barrier for the under fur. The underfur retains air when the seal is dry. Because of isolating properties of the air, the underfur is the insulating system of the fur. In March-April, the fur of adults is partially replaced. First reproduction occurs at 1-yr old in females. Males are physiologically matures at 1 year old but socially matures at +2 years old.
NOTE: The name of Coney Island is commonly thought to be derived from the Dutch Konijn Eylandt or Rabbit Island as apparently the 17th century European settlers noted many rabbits running amuck on the island.

Physical characteristics
The plumage of the Great Cormorant is black, though white patches are present on the chin. The neck, which features a small crest of black feathers, is flecked with white or grey and the wings appear copper. The eyes of the Great Cormorant are green and its webbed feet are black. During breeding, white patches appear on the thighs of adult birds. The weight of the Great Cormorant is 2.5kg. The sexes appear similar, although the female bird is slightly smaller than the male. The plumage of the immature bird is brown. The Great Cormorant is usually silent, although during courtship displays the male makes a ‘kwer kwer' sound while the female responds with soft purrs
Habitat
In spite of its preference for extensive areas of permanent freshwater, the Great Cormorant is not confined to these and is often observed on coastal inlets and estuaries.
Other details
This cormorant has a wide distribution along the Atlantic coasts of Europe, from the Balkan Peninsula to India and China, in Africa, Australia and north-eastern North America. The continental race sinensis inhabits the lowlands along the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, central and Eastern Europe. This population had been reduced to 3000-5000 individuals during the first half of the twentieth century, but after the 1970's it increased rapidly. The total population of the European Union is now estimated at 55000 breeding pairs and the total European population at 160.000 breeding pairs. The comeback of this species seems to be linked to the increase of fish stocks following large-scale eutrophication of water bodies and to the increase of fishponds.The species continued to increase during 1990-2000, with almost all national trends either stable or increasing, including those of key populations in Denmark, Ukraine and Russia.
Feeding
The Great Cormorant feeds on fish, crabs, frogs and various insect species. Food is gathered underwater, but the Great Cormorant seldom dives to depths of more than 100cm. A typical dive lasts for less than 60 seconds. The Great Cormorant uses its webbed feet and its wings to propel itself underwater.
Breeding
The Great Cormorant establishes breeding colonies that may include 2 000 breeding pairs, although smaller colonies are typical. These colonies are often shared with other species of waterbirds including grebes and other species of Cormorants. Breeding occurs throughout the year, although it is more common in Autumn and Spring. During courtship the male attracts a mate when he is resting on the water. The male raises and lowers his wings while he holds his head and tail upright, exposing the white plumes on his rump. When the wings are raised. the male vibrates them rapidly. Another form of display is when the male swings his head back and forth, holding his tail erect and calling loudly. The female responds by swinging her head slightly and ‘purring'.
Both adults build their nest in a tree or on the ground. Because it is used by different breeding pairs for many years, the nest, which is made from dry sticks and twigs, may be more than 100cm deep. The female lays one egg every 2-3 days until she has a clutch of 3-4 eggs. The eggs are oval, blue-white and measure 66mm in length and 41mm in width. Both adults assist the egg's incubation. They place their webbed feet under the eggs and rest their warm bodies over them. The eggs hatch in 28-31 days.
Hatchlings are dependent on their parents for up to 70 days. The hungry chicks peck the adults' throats, causing them to regurgitate food. The young birds beg for water by holding their open bills upward in a silent gesture. The parents respond by collecting water in their bills and pouring it into the chicks' mouths. Hatchlings often fall prey to raptors such as the Whistling Kite before they fledge at 50 days.
Migration
Migrant or partial migrant in most northerly populations, but sedentary or dispersive throughout most of range; migrants frequently winter within breeding range of species. Race sinensis fairly migratory, but variable with region and year: W populations move S towards Mediterranean, wintering inland and on coast, and reaching Persian Gulf. Nominate carbo widely dispersive, wintering mainly on coasts around breeding areas, though many inland in Ireland; populations of N North America and Greenland regularly move S, reaching New Jersey and sometimes Florida. In Australia, movements essentially nomadic and dispersive, related to cycles of flooding and drought.

The Cape Meares Light is an inactive lighthouse on the coast of Oregon. It is located on Cape Meares just south of Tillamook Bay. It is open to the public.

Built in 1890, Cape Meares Light served as the light station for Tillamook Bay. When it was built, the lighthouse complex included two keeper's houses, two oil houses, and two cisterns, and was connected to the light by a 1,000-foot (300 m) boardwalk. Later additions included an attached workroom in 1895 and a garage in 1934.[1] The light itself was iron-plated, and due to its exposure to the elements, it required frequent repainting over the years. No foghorn was ever installed at Cape Meares. In 1934, the light received electricity. Now unnecessary, the oil houses were removed.[2]
In 1963, the lighthouse was deactivated and replaced by a newer tower.[1] The following year, the Coast Guard made plans to demolish the light. However, due to public outcry, the plans fell through, and the Coast Guard turned the station over to Tillamook County. The light remained vacant until 1968, when the site was turned over to the Oregon State Parks Department. During this time, vandalism became a major problem for the light. Eventually, the vandalism took its toll on the keeper's quarters and they were subsequently demolished. Among the damage, four of the bulls-eyes in the Fresnel lens were stolen. That same year, the light was opened up to the public and the light was restored, with the exception of the missing bulls-eyes. Since then, three of the four missing bulls-eyes have been recovered.[3] In 1980, the tower itself was opened to the public.[2]
The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.[4]
The U.S. Coast Guard permanently switched off Cape Meares Light (LLNR 675) on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, as it is no longer considered necessary for safe navigation of the seacoast.[5]

Between the afternoon of January 9 and noon on January 10, 2010, an unknown vehicle reportedly drove down a blocked maintenance road to the lighthouse viewing area. A number of rounds were fired, breaking 15 of the lighthouse's windows and several parts of the historic Fresnel lens. Additional rounds were fired into a nearby active Coast Guard light and surrounding equipment. While driving off the maintenance road the suspect vehicle also caused significant damage to a grassy area. Damages were initially estimated to be over $50,000, but subsequent inspections have shown it may cost more than $500,000 to repair the lens. A park ranger stated that the lens was created in Paris in 1888 and had been shipped around the tip of South America to Oregon.[6] Early news reports stated a $1,000 reward was being offered for information leading to arrests, a figure which was raised to $3,000 by the evening of January 11.[6][7] On February 10, two Oceanside men, Zachary Jon Pyle, age 23 and David Regin Wilks Jr., age 26, were arrested in connection with the vandalism.[8] At the time of the arrests the reward figure had climbed to $6,000. The men were convicted and received a creative sentence by a Tillamook County District Court judge. David Wilkes Jr. and Zachary Pyle were ordered to pay $100,000 to the lighthouse and serve three 16-day jail terms over three years. Each jail term will start on December 27, which coincides with the date of the vandalism. They served their first sentence from December 27, 2010, to January 11, 2011, and they will do so again at the end of the this year and the end of next year.
The men, who admitted they were drunk at the time, said it was the dumbest thing they had ever done. In handing down the sentence, the judge said, "Some people go to Hawaii for vacation and some people go to jail. The next three years will serve as a reminder, and you are going to get some time to contemplate that." as quoted in a news story at Lighthouse Digest.[9]

Having used a Nikon D200 for the past few years, and having enjoyed many years of faithful service from it, I decided to take the plunge, go full frame and purchase a Nikon D700.
It was an overcast day last Wednesday when I purchased it, and keen to try it out Jon and I headed to Winchester Cathedral. They remove the chairs between Christmas and Easter, and hang these famous, colourful banners.
One of the great advantages of full frame cameras is the wide-angle capability and I was keen to make the most of my 12mm lens.
I've been massively impressed with the detail captured by the D700. It's early days and I'm itching to get some decent landscapes under my belt but otherwise it looks like a great investment.

Originally built in 1894-99, the Tomochichi Federal Building and United States Courthouse features the designs of architects Willoughby J. Edbrooke and Jeremiah O'Rourke. It was later expanded in 1930-32, using the designs of James A. Wetmore. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
In 2005 the structure was named in honor of the Muskogee (Creek) friend of James Oglethorpe and co-founder of Savannah, who is interred in Wright Square across from the east elevation of the building.
The edifice is also a contributing property to the Savannah Historic District, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966, and was designated a National Historic Landmark District the same year.
Georgia's fifth largest city, Savannah serves as the seat of Chatham County. It is the oldest city in the state, dating back to its founding in 1733 near the mouth of the Savannah River.
(One of my favorites) - Neither Rain Nor Dark of Night features a DH-4B of the US Postal Service circa 1920. Following WWI the US Postal Service purchased surplus aircraft from the army for use in the newly created US Airmail service. The DH-4 was chosen for its simplicity and potential for mass production. Problems plagued the DH-4 Liberty Planes, and design flaws became apparent as soon as the DH-4s were subjected to the day-to-day use of the Airmail Service. In January 1919, the DH-4s were decommissioned and subjected to extensive renovation. The cockpits were repositioned in the rear of the plane, behind the fuel tank, and were padded against rough landings. The fuselage was now to be constructed out of plywood sheets over wooden struts, instead of the original linen sheeting. The compass, air pressure gauge, and altimeter were also redesigned to allow for more accurate readings Upon the introduction of these newly designed DH-4Bs, the "Flaming Coffin" became the "workhorse of the airmail service". In the first year alone, DH-4Bs carried over 775 million letters. By 1921, pilots were assigned an individual plane and were allowed to make modifications to that plane as necessary.
Earth Designs Garden Design and Build were asked to created a landscape and propose garden design in Wanstead, London*. Here are the details of the project
Brief: This client wanted to tidy and improve her existing garden, adding features without radically altering the overall layout. A large portion of the lawn was to be retained and a poorly laid patio needed attention. Provision was to be made for a plethora of children's garden toys and a large timber play-frame. The client also wanted to include a large bespoke home office within the design.
Solution: The solution retained the existing layout as much as possible. The existing random lay sandstone patio was lifted and re-laid, and a new sandstone pathway created running down the left hand side of the space. A series of tall archways, created from chunky new landscaping poles and installed at intervals along the path, offer a visually imposing feature and guides one's eye down the garden.
The path terminates in a sandstone circle in the centre of which is installed a stainless steel water feature. A sculptural screen, comprising a succession of upright landscaping poles of decreasing heights, encloses the sandstone circle in a semi-circle around its edge. Beyond this area space was left for the installation of a large bespoke garden office (not manufactured or installed by Earth Designs).
An additional bed was created across the back of the space, to create a separate children's play area in the garden in which the client installed a large timber climbing structure. The existing planting was supplemented with a scheme of strong colours chosen for year round interest. Several existing 'sky rocket' conifers were replanted in the bed running across the back of the space to help screen the client's shed and large climbing frame.
The lighting was kept simple, with stainless steel down-lighters on each post of the timber arches and a large number of low voltage spotlights nestled throughout the beds.

THE LEGACY OF NORMAN FIGGIS

An unremarkable man in many ways, mousy facial features and piggy little eyes that stared out from the sanctity of thick bifocal glasses, black plastic frames taped together with pristine accuracy and attention to detail, a man who took great pleasure and delight in the minutia of detail that others failed to see or at least chose to ignore.
Norman Figgis was by any means an ordinary member of the community that dwelt nearby London's much loved South Bank. A polite man of modest means, he would lift his trilby hat in quiet deference to those ladies for whom he would open a door, or step into the gutter to allow their safe and unhindered passage by him in busy pavements and alleyways, rarely engaging the eyes of those he would meet by opportunist fate, as he returned to his little house full of papmpered felines who dined exclusively upon fresh meet brought in regularly, he drew little attention to himself, proving to be both elusive and indeed the very epitome of forgettable.
But life shows how looks can be deceptive and a book judged by its cover alone often fails to live up to expectations or desires. Assume at one's peril for not everything about the man that could be ascertained at first glance, nor second, nor perhaps even third, could prepare the good and varied folk of the borough of Southwark for the terrible truth that lay dormant within the walled secrecy of his humble abode. This particular book had a sting in it's tail like the most venomous of Scorpion's, a truth so vile and odious as to send shockwaves through a frightened community when the facts became public knowledge.
In the seclusion of a damp old outbuilding, containing little more than a fifteen year old Hotpoint washing machine, a tumble dryer and a collection of newspapers and magazines lay an awful truth. The hastily painted over cement walls peeling in the moist atmospheric nuances that fester and concoct their evil plans through the winter months, in a corner recess where all but the most invasive of glances would locate in decent light more appealing than the single forty watt bulb that dangles unceremoniously by a single cord from it's ceiling mount, lies a hidden treasure trove of Norman's most inglorious past. In his quiet lifetime roaming hands and wandering eyes would be met with short shrift and most unwelcome here, though now that Norman has moved on to whatever fine or grisly fate awaits him in the afterlife, if indeed there is such an opportunity, the building will be cleared and gutted, and his violent past and wanton blood-lust shall be discovered by disbelieving eyes and sickened hearts and minds.
The door, though ravaged by woodworm and the elements of nature that have conspired to eat away at the timber like a vicious cancer, remains locked shut, the final actions of old Norman on that fateful night when last he breathed a lungful of air on this beautiful Earth. A chain to the top left corner, bolt in the centre and another to the bottom where the gap billows in the icy winter chills and the wood lice scamper about in a state of perpetual confusion. Secured and double checked, those ageing limbs that ache and pain him so as he walks up the rickety wooden staircase to his kitchenette, unchanged and somewhat dilapidated since it's design in the mid thirties housing boom just prior to the outbreak of the second world war, find Norman brewing a fresh pot of tea, real leaves just as mother used to make, a warmed pot and time aplenty for the flavour to brew and stew, strong and hot as tea aught to be.
A man of routine, Norman places the cup carefully onto his tray, purposefully to the top left corner with a metal biscuit tin sitting adjacent, a silver spoon and two cubes of wrapped Tate and Lyle sugar at the ready, a tiny white porcelain vessel to hold the milk, room temperature so as not to be at odds with the piping hot water as it enters the bone china teacup. Everything has a place and order in Norman's mind.
But fate is a funny thing, you know. No man knows his time is up until perhaps the moments leading up to those final pangs of realization. Years of expectancy, the knock on the door in the dead of night that never came, the flashing blue lights and wailing sirens, uniformed officers and the pain of metal around unwilling flesh as the handcuffs seal one's fate. Not a bit of it, as dear Norman's hideous crimes went unpunished, as walking back from the kitchenette to the living room, an old valve television showing a rerun of 'Are you being served' from it's monochromatic screen, Norman mindful of switching off the feeble light to the kitchenette so as not to squander valuable and expensive resources, a sudden pain, hand to heart, the tray and it's contents falling to the ground in seemingly slow motion as the pieces explode in a colourful array of liquid and texture, and it's lights out for dear Norman. Such a sad and lonely end, to a sad and lonely life.
As with the television programme itself, the show is over and Norman's credits are now rolling as the audience make their exit, commenting to one another on how things might have been done differently, better, with more attention to detail. Now the fun will begin and truth will out, for the house full of pampered felines with a taste for fresh meat no longer brought in regularly by their doting owner have but one option as they survey his cooling body. Three weeks will pass by with Norman's flesh prone and decaying, this unremarkable little man who nobody noticed, nor remarked upon, nor missed. Three weeks until an oversized packet in the hands of the portly post mistress, larger than life and twice as ugly, a catalogue from Freebody Gardening centre with a complimentary pair of thinsulate gardening gloves, pushed hard through the letter box as the open flap released into the air an aroma so revolting, so deeply obnoxious that was soon to bring about the arrival of those blue flashing lights and wailing sirens, the knock at the door and the realization that this man was in fact anything but ordinary or unremarkable.
In that damp little out building, where the wood lice scampered around in the atmospheric darkness lay a treasure trove of Norman's victims. A single five lever padlock, sturdy made of British Steel by W. J. Goodwin Ltd, Wolverhampton Road, Wallsall, and heftily constructed, weathered by the passing years and rusting from the degradation of ambient temperature, firmly in place, no key to be found, naturally.
One day, long after the coroners verdict of death by natural causes, long after the burial of Norman's final victim to bemused police officer's scratched heads, and the cremation of his own body as per the wishes of his drafted and precise written request, the terrible truths would be duly discovered, and the world would reel with shock and dismay at the quiet little man with the thick rimmed bifocals neatly taped together, the trilby hat and polite demeanour and a curious and distasteful penchant for human flesh and the memento's of each street kid plucked from their patch and offered a fateful last ride in his fastidiously clean nineteen fifty seven Old English green Morris Minor Convertible with the up to date parking permit neatly affixed to the inside of the windscreen that sits alone and unloved beyond the walls of this very room.
Ah dear Norman, your fifteen minutes of fame has finally come.......

Kumartuli is a traditionally potters’ quarter in northern Kolkata
The Asiatic Society of Calcutta estimates that the first formal puja of Durga was held around 1606 A.D. at the present Baghbazar area in Kolkata by a zamindar Pran Krishna Halder. Four years later, the Kumartuli's 'Kumars' (potters) started making the idols of mother goddess Durga in clay for the neo-rich feudal lord Laxmikanta Roy Mazumder, who is the first patron of Kolkata's potter's town and initiator of the puja of Durga in clay idols.
Durga Puja - the ceremonial worship of the supremely radiant mother goddess, is one of the most important festivals, is celebrated every year in the month of October with much gaiety and grandeur in India and abroad, especially in Bengal, where the ten-armed goddess riding the lion and killing the Buffalo-Demon (Mahishasura) is worshiped with great passion and devotion. In Durga, the Gods bestowed their powers to co-create a beautiful goddess with ten arms, each carrying their most lethal weapon. The tableau of Durga also features her four children - Kartikeya, Ganesha, Saraswati and Lakshmi.
