Burn Up! British Airways Concorde G-BOAG captured on a fast fly-by at the International Air Tattoo. A beautiful sight :)
The 1983 IAT was the last to be held at Greenham Common due to the build up of cruise missile facilities and the reduced area for a large airshow. In 1985, RAF Fairford was chosen as the venue to host the Air Tattoo with the static display stretching for nearly 2 miles - the longest single line-up ever presented in the UK.
Concorde 214 history:
- First Registered as G-BFKW on 27th January 1978 to British Aerospace.
- After manufacture and with no buyer, the aircraft was loaned via a sale or return agreement to British Airways, to cover a 6 month period, while G-BOAC was being repaired at Filton.
- Flew for a short while as G-BFKW with British Airways. [see link to my photo below]
- Re-registered as G-BOAG by British Airways on 9th February 1981.
- Flypast in the new 'Landor' livery with the Red Arrows at the Royal International Air Tattoo in 1985. [where this photo was taken]
- Final flight from New York on 24th October 2003 - before joining G-BOAE and G-BOAF on a low circuit of London and then touching down at Heathrow together to mark the last day of Concorde commercial flights.
- Final flight from JFK across northern Canada to Seattle - 5th Nov 2003
- Retired from service and now preserved at the Museum of Flight, Seattle

The International Air Tattoo events held at RAF Greenham Common & RAF Fairford
The first Air Tattoo was staged at North Weald Airfield in Essex in 1971, with just over 100 aircraft taking part. The event was founded by Paul Bowen and Timothy Prince, who were CAA air traffic controllers, and Air Marshal Sir Denis Crowley-Milling.
From 1973 to 1983 it was held intermittently at RAF Greenham Common, moving to RAF Fairford in 1985. The show took place at Fairford every two years until it became an annual show from 1993.
initially the show was held under the title of the Royal Air Forces Association, South Eastern Area, Air Tattoo. The show became the International Air Tattoo in 1976, and in 1996 the current Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) title was adopted.

In the fast lane at Nobbys Beach yesterday. Amazing how many people finish their day off with doing this walk / run at this beautiful part of the day. I tried to capture that.
If I did not have to work, go to school, or take care of numerous other things, I would roam the streets of New York everyday shopping and taking photographs. But, I suppose that is not reality... yet. I have big hopes and dreams for the future! Anyways, I snapped this quick photograph while I was doing what I love- shopping. Although today I didn't accomplish much!

The European red-rumped swallow (Cecropis rufula) is a small passerine bird in the swallow family Hirundinidae. It breeds in open hilly country of southern Europe and north Africa east to Iran, Pakistan and northwest India. During winter it migrates to Africa and southwest Asia. It was formerly considered to be a subspecies of the eastern red-rumped swallow (Cecropis daurica), united under the common name of “red-rumped swallow”.
European red-rumped swallows are somewhat similar in habits and appearance to the other aerial insectivores, such as the related swallows and the unrelated swifts (order Apodiformes). They have blue upperparts and dusky underparts.
They resemble barn swallows, but are darker below and have pale or reddish rumps, face and neck collar. They lack a breast band, but have black undertails. They are fast fliers and they swoop on insects while airborne. They have broad but pointed wings.
European red-rumped swallows build quarter-sphere nests with a tunnel entrance lined with mud collected in their beaks, and lay 3 to 6 eggs. They normally nest under cliff overhangs in their mountain homes, but will readily adapt to buildings such as mosques and bridges.
They do not normally form large breeding colonies, but are gregarious outside the breeding season. Many hundreds can be seen at a time on the plains of India.

About 4,700 light years away, NGC 6888 is formed by a fast stellar wind from the Wolf-Rayet star HD 192163, also known as WR 136. The star is shedding its outer envelope, ejecting the equivalent of the Sun's mass every 10,000 years. This stellar wind is colliding with, and energizing, a slower-moving wind ejected by the star when it became a red giant around 400,000 years ago. The result of the collision is a shell about 25 light-years across. Two shock waves, one moving outward and one moving inward, heats the stellar wind to X-ray-emitting temperatures. The central star WR 136 will probably undergo a supernova explosion sometime in the next million years.

Just a simple roster shot of a brace of C40-8s tied down on the South Track and idling away in a snow squall sitting just west of the Groton-Harvard Road crossing at MP 35.5 on the Keolis/MBTA Fitchburg Route mainline.
These three units graphically illustrate the changing times in New England as all three are former Pan Am Railways units, part of a group of 30 ex CSXT C40-8s (24 standard cab and 6 wide cab)acquired by Pan Am in 2017 in a deal brokered by GE. With the sale of Pan Am to CSXT effective June 1, 2022 they all once again became the property of their former owner. Finally after a protracted delay Genesee and Wyoming's newly created Berkshire and Eastern Railroad began operating the former Pan Am Southern property as a neutral third party on behalf of 50/50 parents Norfolk Southern and CSXT.
Consequently 10 of the remaining C40 variants were transferred to the new startup including the three here. Most were quickly patched with mee BERX reporting marks and the Pan Am Railways or legacy CSXT logos were painted over. Interestingly while BERX 7518 lost her Pan Am lettering and logo on her hood she kept her Pan Am globe nose logo. Why? I have no idea but it sure does make for an interesting marker in time that will assuredly not last as the Pan Am image fades from the New England rail scene.

We had some debate in my house what exactly the frothy drink is supposed to be. I say it's a root beer float, but my husband says it's an "Arnold Palmer" which is a light beer on top of a dark beer, but I don't think that would have whipped cream and a cherry.
In any case it went to a teenager, so it's a root beer float...
