This little fast moving cutie paused for a few seconds! It is a sport to follow these little ones around as they move from branch to branch. A Golden-crowned Kinglet foraging for insects in the moss and lichens. Photo taken at Washougal River Greenway Trail.
I'm still on a quest to catch one of these little welcome swallows at the moment it dips into the water. I'm slowly getting closer! I still haven't figured out whether they are just having a quick dip to bathe or are just grabbing a very quick drink. Either way, it is very entertaining to sit and watch them.
Happy Wing Wednesday!
How fast do we forget?

The Greyhound is an ancient and noble breed renowned as the fastest dog on Earth, but also famous for being a docile "45-mph couch potato" in the home. They make calm, affectionate, and low-maintenance family pets for the right household.
Key Characteristics
Speed:
Greyhounds can reach speeds of up to 45 mph (72 km/h) in just a few strides, thanks to their unique, aerodynamic build, deep chest, flexible spine, and long, powerful legs.
Temperament:
Despite their athletic prowess, Greyhounds are gentle, sensitive, and quiet dogs. They are non-aggressive, typically get along well with people and other dogs, and are known for their calm, even-tempered nature indoors.
Exercise Needs:
They are built for sprinting, not endurance, and require surprisingly little exercise—around an hour of daily activity, ideally split into two shorter walks with the chance for a supervised sprint in a securely fenced area.
Prey Drive:
As sighthounds, they have a strong instinct to chase fast-moving objects (like squirrels or rabbits). For this reason, they should generally remain on a lead in open public spaces and a secure, high-fenced garden is essential.
Greyhounds are one of the oldest breeds in history, appearing in ancient Egyptian art dating back to 4000 BCE and the only dog breed mentioned by name in the Bible.
The Graphosoma lineatum is a stink bug that quirts an irritant to birds who decide to aim its way for a snack. Blackbirds try to peck and swallow at such a speed that the bug has no time to squirt. It might be nice to imagine that the beautiful and varied songs of blackbirds are also due to their agile minds.

The kingfisher is the only species of the kingfisher family found in Central Europe. It inhabits large parts of Europe, Asia and western North Africa and lives in moderately fast-flowing or stagnant, clear waters with small fish and perching areas. Its diet consists of fish, aquatic insects, small crustaceans and tadpoles. The population has rebounded in recent years and the species is currently classified as depleted in Europe, but as low threat throughout its range. The Kingfisher was Bird of the Year in Germany in 1973 and 2009, in the Czech Republic in 2000, in Belgium in 2005, in Switzerland in 2006, in Austria in 2009 and in Slovakia in 2011.

My impressions are the Heritage 1 paint scheme is well suited to the nose, cab, and hood of EMD's SD40-2 model, especially from this perspective.

A moment of acrobatics… all for a tiny insect. It was so fast I didn't even manage to capture the moment of the catch
