Saved by a quick u-turn. Bears must eat about 25 fish a day to put on enough fat to survive the winter hibernation.

I liked the irony... the waitresses at this 'slow food movement' restaurant wore shirts that said FAST.

Another super yummy place for awesome Italian pizza... our favorite here is the margherita (just tomatoes, basil and fresh mozz).

Reminiscent of its last year of service on the N&W before retirement, J Class 611 hustles 12 cars of revenue freight on a deadhead move from Lynchburg, VA to Spencer, NC. Following the previous weekend's excursions out of Lynchburg, the passenger equipment was taken to Bristol, VA for excursions with the Southern 4501, necessitating freight cars to aid in braking so as to not wear out the brakes on the 611. This was the first revenue freight train powered by the 611 after its recent rebuild and it is seen here at Altavista, VA, heading south on the NS Danville District.

Fast-life

Мы хотим получить от жизни всё и быстро. Хотя сами носим бумажные платья и за нашей душой нет ничего. Даже внутреннего мира.

We want to get everything out of life and quickly. Wear paper -dresses, but have nothing for our sou. Even the inner world.

Amtrak Hiawatha Service train 338 comes through Morton Grove meeting Metra 2123 with Dash-8 500 leading the way.

Panned shot of BR Standard Class 9F 92212 as it catches the evening light while hauling its freight train towards Alresford on the Mid-Hants Railway. Seen near Bishop's Sutton during a Matt Allen and Warwick Falconer photo charter.

GBRf Class 66/7 No. 66764 runs round having just arrived at East Midlands Gateway container terminal with 4M19, the 11:50 from Southampton Western Docks on 18th March 2022. Within seconds of the train stopping, the unloading commenced and by the time I drove away some 20 minutes later all containers had been removed from the train.

A few months ago, Amtrak's City of New Orleans had to be rescued by a GTW SD40-2. I managed to shoot it just three times, as even at reduced speed, it was still a tricky bugger to keep up with. Chasing it north from Hayes was tough, but we just barely managed to get ahead. This is one of many rural, no-longer-marked crossings on the IC, and was a spot I shot the IC 2466 "blue devil" at last year - certainly memorable.

This weary and worn former MoPac SD40-2 was really howling as it powered the CONO north. You could hear it giving it its all! It may not have been an 'official' Fast Forty, but the GTW5934 was making good time considering the circumstances. Passenger trains are heavier than they often look, plus getting up to speed - certainly lots of strain on the engines! The Chargers are troublesome enough, they are certainly not given an easy task to deal with day-to-day. Still, when a nearly 50 year old locomotive can still handle it, while the brand new motor can't... Hm, well, you draw your own conclusions.

You'd think that them having to slow, stop, and allow for boarding in Champaign would make getting ahead of this thing easier. No sir, I skipped back to the Interstate to skirt around Champaign as fast as possible, still barely made it. Safe to say my chase day was over fast, but boy was it a fun one.

My fast primes - Canon 50mm f1.8 II (nifty fifty), Canon 50mm f1.4, Sigma 30mm f1.4, Sigma 28mm f1.8. I love all of these lenses, but I think my favorite is the Sigma 28mm (even with its noisy and slow autofocus!).
