The Cliffs Victory follows the thousand footer Belle River into Lake Huron at Point Edward ON. in October 1981. The Victory was one of the fastest ships on the Great Lakes with a top speed of 16.5 knots, about 19mph. She looks fast and had an unusal profile having cargo holds behind her rear cabins! She was built as a Victory Ship during WWll, Notre Dame Victory and converted to a Laker in 1950. She was sold for scrap in 1985,
We visit the Lakes again soon. This is one from a while back where we'd had an extraordinary amount of rainfall and all the outlets were over run ... This was taken as the light was fading fast.

Pancake tortoises are native to the area of Tanzania and Kenya. The species is thought to be the fastest tortoise in the world. They can quickly evade predators by scampering under rocks, and even climbing nearly vertical services. Unlike many other tortoises, if they find themselves on their backs, they can flip upright quickly.

If you ever find yourself in the Knysna area and in search of a bit of an adrenaline rush... you might perhaps consider signing up for a 3km downhill ride through the forest on an unpowered scooter?
"Scootours offers a unique and true forest experience. Enjoy an exhilarating downhill run on a Monster Mountain Scooter. Descend through indigenous forests, sweeping bends and a single track. A scenic minibus ride takes you into the heart of the forest to the best hills to start your descent into the Garden Route National Park. All of this while on the lookout for the our local wild life, the majestic Knysna Loerie, the shy bushbuck and wild boar."
It sure looks like a lot of fun... here's a link to their website... scootours.co.za/knysna-forest/
This is the Boise River and at this point it's running through,
well, Boise, Idaho. I think this 'water feature' is man made but I can't see a reason as to why, except perhaps to provide a pool of water for fish, etc during low water levels in late summer. He was kind enough to sit and pose for 5 seconds
after which he ran off to chase his brother at insane high speed!
