Another Monday, another rough start to a week in French classes. But that's okay. It's my last full week in training and I plan to make the absolute most of it.
I am determined to have the necessary basics to communicate in the language by the time Friday afternoon rolls around.

Looks beautiful, and costs little (US$5) but unfortunately this particular one is defective. Loses about 50 minutes a day. I'd be awfully late for appointments with this watch.
A very cute American Finch, sports a fancy white umbrella while resting on a thistle in the marsh and chewing on the sweet seeds. The green background complements her looks and attire.
The dahlia 'Fancy Pants' is a charming accent to any garden because of its fluttering, double blooms with a lovely blend of pink and white petals. This type of dahlia is of the decorative class and is distinguished by its structured, puffy flowers, which make a striking arrangement. Blooming from mid-summer until frost, the light pink petals have a delicate, lacy appearance due to their creamy white edges and streaks.

When I photographed this spider on the wall outside, I didn't recognize it. Only later, looking at the details such as those long rear spinnerets did I realize it's a funnel weaver. I have seen many of them, but very rarely out in the open like this. This was nice since it let me see all the pretty markings normally hidden by their hunched posture tucked back into the throats of their funnel webs.

This beautiful hair barrette isn't really gold. It's fake brass maybe. It's ok, my hair is too short for it. The barrette is about 2-1/2 inches long.

One thing Lolly and I forget to do each time we're together is do a fancy shoot together.
We made sure to cross that off our list this time.
A couple problems though: she forgot her fancy blue dress, and we didn't know where the right location might be. So we spent one night going around to stores looking for the dress Lolly-girl felt the prettiest in. And one day when we were exploring a new place with Kristin Manson, we saw these giant golden plants shooting out from the ground.
On her second to last day, I realized I could put together an outfit to match hers, and we rushed off to those tall strange plants. It was cold, sunny, and delightful.
It was certainly a day we're not likely to forget any time soon.
