No, this Glaucous-winged Gull has not been to a Taylor Swift concert. Those colourful bands are part of the Salish Sea Gull Project which is studying the health and habitat of gulls in the very human impacted Salish Sea (Gulf of Georgia). I took this image at the pier in Crescent Beach, Surrey, B.C. and I reported the sighting to the project.
Who wouldn't want to go wash their hands in a little room dominated by this chandelier....yes, it's from the ladies' room at a winery near me!
I don't know what kind of message the artist was sending with this fancy enamel pin, but I think it's perfect for Pride Month 2025.

This is the gate that I spotted months ago and loved it. There was such a "golden haze" and it was about 7.45pm yesterday when I took these shots.
Wide-angle long exposure of an inviting jungle pool. In 27-years, this pool has changed little, but it's well and truly on the map now, so it gets packed at weekends and holidays. It's holding up well, but litter is an unfortunate ongoing issue. The local authorities keep talking about an entrance fee, but once money gets involved, everything goes belly up in these here parts!
For Macro Mondays - It's Alive.
The second time I have seen one of these flies, the eyes suggest to me that it is some sort of Horsefly but if anyone can help with the ID I would appreciate it.
