Last week's proof was sand on my skin. Today's proof is a fading tan line which marks re-entry into everyday, normal life....work, laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, schedules. The transition is difficult but necessary.
Lots of color processing to try to bring this one out. It's a small and very faint black pictograph between/under many layers of more recent looking (Fremont and other) pictographs and modern graffiti. (I give even odds on whether this was painted before Jesus was born, and either way I severely doubt he'd approve of this use of his name.)

Fade to Black Redux This is a redux of week 85. Let's put our lighting skills to the test this week.
My Valentine's Day tulips have finally bowed their heads, but I think they are just as beautiful in their old age, as they were when they were given to me........................I also love the shapes and colours of them.
One of these cushions has plainly been in the sun more than the other.
I looked for a group for cushions and was amazed not to find one. So I set up one, but it said there is one called "cushions" but I can't find it so added a bit more to the title.
My aunt gave me a rose bloom from her garden a while back and I placed it on my kitchen window sill. It has sat there and slowly dried out, but I think it is still beautiful.
One of last years' tiny Hydrangea petiolaris flowers is still beautiful as a ray of sunlight pierces the shade.
The Rocky Mountains that make up the eastern wall of the Salt Lake Valley had just the right combination of clouds, dust, and sunlight to produce a faded effect that I have wanted to capture for a long time.
Faded Coke murals seem to be a big thing lately. I have one from Fayetteville in my stream. (At least I thought I did; I couln't find it in a quick search.) I've also seen them on the streams of more than one of my contacts as well as other random Flickr photostreams. I think it's just one of those social phenomena where we all notice the same thing at the same time.
13 April 2013. Dawlish Road Tottenham. At the request of residents, double yellow (no parking) lines were painted on one side of this section of road. In April they were fading - although still visible as double yellows.
A resident recently asked me if faded lines are a good ground for appealing against a Parking ticket. (Penalty Charge Notice or PCN) The answer is: "it depends".

I was married for a while, but haven't been for even longer. I am unsure I will ever marry again, but I keep my options open.
I think I was just too young to know who to pick and hopefully, the next guy will be a keeper.
No regrets.

Well, after a big day at the Growers market where I sell my plants, I still had to find a subject for my POTD. I went looking for a bug, having seen a really cute ladybird which unfortunatety declined to be my model & flew away!
And so, I came across this geum x rivale called "Pink Frills". It's quite lovely when fresh but I have always admired the beginnings of seeds in the fading flower... so not being able to find a suitable bug, I decided this was it. Once I'd seen this end result, I knew I was right, it's very elegant even at this late stage.
