This flower is fading fast, but I thought that the colors and shapes were still interesting.
Strobist info: I wanted to show the translucent quality of the petals so I back lit the flower by placing a Strobie 130 in a Rogue grid behind to camera left at 10 o'clock. For fill light a placed a YN560-II in a 24 inch soft box, camera left and in front at 7 o'clock. Both strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Some of our Amaryllis flowers are fading fast, even as others come into bloom. The petals become more transparent and so I thought a white background more appropriate.

SLR 393 is rounding the bend at Byant Pond and is now a few small towns away from entering New Hampshire. Light is fading fast as the slopes of Mt. Washington and the White Mountains loom nearby.
The light was fading but the emotion was increasing. It is necessary to put the camera away and just to absorb the atmosphere as the end of the day draws to a close. More images tomorrow, perhaps.
This is a photo of my Willow tree that i love but has been causing a little worry over the last few years as it is a monster and is quite close to the house.
It is about 50ft tall and about a 50ft ball in circumference, this was one of the final shoots taken before it had a massive trim, if trim is the correct word. I think mutilation is more the correct term. The next photo shows the result of it's hair cut, not a pretty sight.but hopefully it will grow back into a normal looking Willow again

Lighting: In addition to the last flame on the fire hoop, and the stop light, and another performer's flames, there are two Canon 430EX IIs in 5 inch Honl snoots involved. One is between 8 and 9 'o'clock about 20 feet from the fire area, and the other is between 3 and 4 o'clock and about 15 feet from the fire area. Both were swaying the wind atop fully extended 13-foot light stands, so they could shoot over the crowd. Power level set to 1/8, zoom to 105, and controlled via the YN 622-td/622 trigger system.
After whipping my acreage into shape on my three day weekend I could not resist getting out there with the camera and creating. Learning is a very visual experience.

I may as well mention here, that the conclusion I arrived at from the observations I was afterwards able to make, was, that the flowers die because the fairies go away; not that the fairies disappear because the flowers die. The flowers seem a sort of houses for them, or outer bodies, which they can put on or off when they please. George MacDonald, Phantastes.
