This weeks song is The Memory Remains, by Metallica.
Like twisted vines that grow
Hide and swallow mansions whole
And dim the light of an already faded prima donna
Fortune, fame, mirror vain, gone insane
Fortune, fame, mirror vain, gone insane
But the memory remains
I've been going through my archives, and found this image from way back when, and thought it fit the lyrics, so I hope you think so too! I really like Metallica, although I do find them too intense to listen to for very long. I saw them in concert, back in the 90's...they were awesome!

The Memory Remains: by Metallica
Fading, disintegrating, and letting nature take over, a long abandoned house sits alone in an open field, as an old oak tree leans towards the road, while 214 races north in the distance.
I walked to the nearby cemetery. It felt like a good place to be safe in during these times of self isolation and social distancing.
As John, one of my Flickr friend said, and I totally agree, the desire to visit a grave of a loved one doesn't exist in me either. My beloved departed dwell in my heart and are on my mind always.
Visiting a cemetery is usually an act of meditation. Today, however, I was more aware of the names and dates engraved on tombstones. Some of the black granite graves were decorated with wilted flowers and some with small angels. There were some covered with green moss making the inscriptions hard to decipher, some graves lying within rusty fences and some with beautiful flowerbeds freshly taken care of.
Sitting on a bench in the sun, reminiscing dear ones far away, I felt tears coming down my cheeks. There's always a longing mixed with sadness along happy memories, too.
Getting older makes you realise mortality is a sure thing.

If you look closely you will see a pedestrian and a cyclist. The cyclist has nearly faded away, the pedestrian is half buried by the encroaching verge.

"When your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and then only, are you grown old. And then, indeed as the ballad says, you just fade away.”
---Douglas MacArthur---
Today I went out to take my 365 just before the light began to go. I went into the woods by my neighborhood and after a while I started hearing noises. They scared the poop out of me!!! People have been telling me about the rabid foxes around here lately and so once shot a couple pics I booked it out of there! I'm not going out there on my own anymore :P I'm such a wuss...

Yesterday, I said to myself enough with the housework - time for a photo-stroll!! :-)
It is camellia blossom time here in Central Florida, so I decided to revisit Leu Gardens in Orlando. Even tho we have had a few chilly nites, most of the blooms are intact and as lush and lovely as can be. While the perfect flowers are heavenly, I find a special beauty in the fading stages of their lives. This one had fallen onto a bed of pine needles and I was especially intrigued by the little bits of green still remaining. Such delicate colors and textures...
Happy Thursday all, y'all!!
Spotted near Dong-dae-mun station. The faded part of the sign says "yo-in-suk" (small guesthouse), and these dinky little places are a dying breed in modern Seoul. The red spray painted "ch'ul" means the building is slated for demolition.

Did you enjoy this project? Yes. The students first did the project on poster board and discovered the difference between working with fabric and working on smooth poster board.
Materials: Pencils, Metallic Markers, Water color, Metallic Acrylic, Acrylic Paint, Fabric as a canvas.
About: This piece is an imaginative portrayal of a Utopian Dinosaur River land in its prime, with multicolored Magical Mountains fading the distant dinosaurs as a metaphor for the power of time being able to fade and change everything.

On the AD255. They were getting a wee bit sticky. Now, seamless and fine. Can't wait to mix again with 'em.

Memories and childhood are all fading away. There doesn't seem to be much time left until everyone leaves and it's time to face the real world.
The faded "Flying Grande" lettering of Denver and Rio Grande Western gondola 715 sits on a lowboy awaited shipment to an unknown location. Driving just outside of Sacramento the other day I saw this just sitting on a lowboy. circled around and got some photos.
This car has since been put on private property just next to Antelope North road in Roseville, where it sits with many other narrow gauge cars of mixed heritage. Not sure exactly why the owner purchased this, as the rest of the cars have just been rotting for years, but it is, at least, for the moment, very viewable.
Black and white filter because why not.
The fading autumn colors along with the leaf drop made for an interesting composition as the viewer gets to peer into the forest.

More Information About Rocky Gap:
Rocky Gap State Park encompasses over 3,000 acres of public land for guests to enjoy. Rugged mountains surround the park which features 243-acre Lake Habeeb. The lake is fed by Rocky Gap Run which winds its way through an impressive mile long gorge displaying sheer cliffs, overlooks and a hemlock forest dense with rhododendron. Overlooking the lake is Evitts Mountain, named for one of the first European settlers in Allegany County.
Information about the Aviary:
Scales and Tales is an educational program using injured, non-releasable birds of prey and reptiles native to Maryland. Featured at the aviary are many birds that have been injured and cannot be released or have been raised in captivity and could not survive in the wild.
This one-of-a-kind program allows visitors the opportunity to view wildlife up close and hear the tales of how the animals became part of the program.
Our "Critter Encounter" program will bring our birds directly to your campsite. If you are looking for something unique at your next gathering, a Scales and Tales program can be scheduled as part of your special event. To check for program availability, scheduling or to receive information on program costs, please contact the park office at 301-722-1487 or email Ranger Milbourne.
