I visited Japan in the spring partly to enjoy the festivities surrounding "hanami" or blossom viewing, but in Tokyo, at least, most of the "sakura" (cherry blossoms) were past their peak by the start of April this year.

Fade to Black Redux This is a redux of week 85. Let's put our lighting skills to the test this week.

My Valentine's Day tulips have finally bowed their heads, but I think they are just as beautiful in their old age, as they were when they were given to me........................I also love the shapes and colours of them.

One of these cushions has plainly been in the sun more than the other.

I looked for a group for cushions and was amazed not to find one. So I set up one, but it said there is one called "cushions" but I can't find it so added a bit more to the title.

In this case literally..

Originaly it was my regular "flowers in vase" shot. Then I went a bit loose and created this. Im quite happy with result.. Just wish files from S5 could survive bit more of my post-processing punishment. :)

The sunset on this day was just gorgeous and I took alot of pictures of it from different angles. I really like how this shot turned out but now I wish I would've removed the path. I find it a bit distracting. Hind sight.

Havana isn't stuck in time. It's a faded glory that intensifies with age.

My aunt gave me a rose bloom from her garden a while back and I placed it on my kitchen window sill. It has sat there and slowly dried out, but I think it is still beautiful.

The Polaroid on the right was left in my girlfriend's car for a couple of months. She parks it outside so the 'roid got a lot of sun.

One of last years' tiny Hydrangea petiolaris flowers is still beautiful as a ray of sunlight pierces the shade.

Faded Coke murals seem to be a big thing lately. I have one from Fayetteville in my stream. (At least I thought I did; I couln't find it in a quick search.) I've also seen them on the streams of more than one of my contacts as well as other random Flickr photostreams. I think it's just one of those social phenomena where we all notice the same thing at the same time.

13 April 2013. Dawlish Road Tottenham. At the request of residents, double yellow (no parking) lines were painted on one side of this section of road. In April they were fading - although still visible as double yellows.

A resident recently asked me if faded lines are a good ground for appealing against a Parking ticket. (Penalty Charge Notice or PCN) The answer is: "it depends".

Is the fading of this sign symbolic for the fading economy right now? God I hope not, but I NEVER thought I'd see the day the Canadian Dollar is worth more than the American.

fading rose, shot in a winter's night

When we look at the winter everything looks dead. Dead trees. Dead plants. When you look at this tree you see that last bit of color before it to becomes dead. Happy winter friends
