For those that remember my Christmas amaryllis...this is the last of the flowers as they faded and fell over the other day...was on my way to the composte bucket but then saw the crushed faded details so needless to say...they went on the window sill waiting for their last horrah! With todays 20cm and more of snow...played with these faded beauties in front of the window with the snow as a background for a high key look...
Life, it seems, will fade away
Drifting further, every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss, this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feelEmptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness, taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
No one but me
Can save myself, but it's too late
Now I can't think
Think why I should even try
Yesterday seems
As though it never existed
Death greets me warm
Now I will just say goodbye
Goodbye... Metallica
Never Fade Away
Air Supply
Walking along the boulevard
Speaking into the air
Where can I find the life
I know that only dreams can share
I close my eyes and see you there
Calling me far beyond
Wrapped in a robe of mystery
You wave your magic wand
Maybe it’s real, only life is illusion
Don’t break my heart
Hold out your hand, and I’ll never lose you
Don’t break my heart
Yes, I’m a man, and just flesh and bone
But you do not love, all my dreams are your home
I stare thru a veil, so thin yet so near
And walk in your footsteps, as you
Cast off my fear
Walk with me thru the gates of time, to eternity
and our love, will never fade away
We can fly to a bridge across the sky
Where the souls that would always cry
Will never fade away
Walking along the boulevard
Wishing we were complete
Why are some things so very hard to witness and believe
The victor of this universe
The victim of the wind
Where does a dream begin and end
And where does life begin
Maybe it’s real, only life is illusion
Don’t break my heart
Hold out your hand, and I’ll never lose you
Don’t break my heart
Yes, I’m a man, and just flesh and bone
But you do not love, all my dreams are your home
I stare thru a veil, so thin yet so near
And walk in your footsteps, as you
Cast off my fear
Walk with me thru the gates of time, to eternity
and our love, will never fade away
We can climb to a bridge across the sky
Where the souls that would always cry
Will never fade away
We can climb to a bridge across the sky
Where the souls that would always cry
Will never fade away
This massive rose bush in Cottonwood, Arizona has flowers all of the bright scarlet color in the lower right. It was fascinating to see all the clusters of faded roses turning all shades of red-violet as bleached and burned by the strong Arizona sun. I know women who would buy bunches of miniature roses and hang them upside-down to age and fade, just for pretty dried roses for a bouquet display for a vase. Here the bouquets were just as sweet as when the flowers are at their brightest glory. This one is best viewed large, for there is good detail and hidden delight in the macro view.

Fading paint and broken glass are only minor items wrong with this reasonably decent International Harvester truck sitting in this farmer's pile of odds and ends.

When we are children, we dream, we create and we wonder what we will be when we grow up. When we are adults, we sometimes loose sight of our dreams and aspirations that we once had when we were small. Our dreams slip away from us and it’s heartbreaking. I got inspired to do this project when I was in the middle of applying for some colleges recently. I felt like I was growing up too fast and I missed having time just to think and create. This project was created so we can remember our lost wishes and dreams we once had
Late September 2012 saw Northumbria Rail's second Mk2f arrive at Whitrope. This is a BSO, or brake second open which means it has accomodation and a screw brake for the guard. The BSO will join the RFO in blue/ grey livery and together they'll form a short but perfectly formed passenger "rake" to work with the Fowler (and any other air braked loco that turns up)
There is a violence in horse racing that I find exciting. It's a physically demanding and highly competitive event in which winning is the only thing that matters or is remembered. If in the back, you are fading fast--hence the treatment in post processing.
When I was approaching processing this, I immediately took my usual approach of boosting colour and contrast to make the image stand out. But for this image, that didn't work. And when my friend Ronni mentioned in his post on his photo - www.flickr.com/photos/florguy/9786242385/ - about the chair being faded, I knew I was going about it the wrong way. I needed to emphasize the faded aspect, so that is why I took away colour rather than adding it.
The 4902 leads westbound Port Jervis train 55 into the curve west of Mahwah Station. Note the barely visible MTA logo on the nose. Almost all of the MTA logos on the 4900-4906 are completely faded.

Texture Tuesday - The Golden eDition
A fading sunflower shot during a trip to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens with some friends last Thursday. This week's Texture Tuesday challenge was to use at least 1 layer of the Golden texture by Kim Klassen. I used 2 layers of Golden on this image.
