The car appears to be a 1942 Dodge made for exporting to non-US markets. I understand that it resembles the 1942 Dodge that was offered in Canada.
Photo taken circa 1947 in Kokura, Kitakyushu, Japan on a U.S. Military base. The actual photographer is not known. I found this photo in one of the albums of my parents. It shows my father standing in front of what appears to be a US Army Major General’s car, judging from the two stars displayed where a license plate would normally be on the car.
Years before my sister and I were born, our Dad was part of the US Occupation military force in Japan immediately after the end of World War 2. Stationed in Kokura, located at the north part of Kyushu Island, his role was in the Language Detail because he was fluent (speaking, reading, writing) in both English and Japanese. I suspect that this photo was simply an opportunity shot when he and a friend must’ve spotted the Major General’s car parked in front of the base RTO facility. I understand that ‘RTO’ stands for radio telephone operator. Interesting (to me) is that there is a sign at the building entrance that directs people to the Post Office for certain other communications needs. I wonder if the sign was placed there because people new to the base would often wander into the RTO facility for non-military communication needs.

The Electric Scots had only been running for a couple of years when 87020 was seen departing Carstairs with a southbound service on 1st April 1977.
Like half of the class, 87020 was exported to Bulgaria in 2009 where it is still operational.
It appears there's still a market in West Africa for the bonneted Magirus Deutz 6x4- this is one of the later Iveco water-cooled versions being loaded for the boat.
66001 passes Crewe Salop Goods Junction with 6O42 1131 Halewood (Jaguar Cars) to Southampton Eastern Docks on 7th February 2018.
The freight only location takes traffic north and south en route mainly to and through Basford Hall yard. Crewe station is out of sight behind the houses on the right of the picture.
The car train is seen on the Up Liverpool Independent line, with the Manchester Independents in the background.
Maximum speed on all lines at this point is 10mph, to account for the fact that all are worked Permissively and trains could be entering a section of track occupied by one or more trains. Visibility and track condition are also a consideration in the low PSR.
CN 327 passes MP 14 of CN's Kingston Sub. As always, it has a lot of lumber bound for the U.S (this train gets interchanged to CSX near the Quebec-New York border).
