It appears there's still a market in West Africa for the bonneted Magirus Deutz 6x4- this is one of the later Iveco water-cooled versions being loaded for the boat.
66001 passes Crewe Salop Goods Junction with 6O42 1131 Halewood (Jaguar Cars) to Southampton Eastern Docks on 7th February 2018.
The freight only location takes traffic north and south en route mainly to and through Basford Hall yard. Crewe station is out of sight behind the houses on the right of the picture.

Maximum speed on all lines at this point is 10mph, to account for the fact that all are worked Permissively and trains could be entering a section of track occupied by one or more trains. Visibility and track condition are also a consideration in the low PSR.

Retirement age for trucks: many used trucks are offered for sale on international markets. If sold to a foreign buyer, this will not be listed in the danish motor registry, so a "retired" truck may or may not have been exported. The new favourite for Africa, these Portugese registered Renault's with their load of cut cousins and a Volvo N10 were waiting within a part of the giant Antwerp docks complex for onward shipping to the port of Conakry in Guinea, West Africa.
Not my finest picture, unfortunately the sun was completely in the wrong place at this time of the day. Mind you at least we saw it! :)
The BMW 507 is one of the most beautiful and coveted BMW models.
The car is rare, a mere 252 built - increasing its desirability today, but the cause of financial losses during its 1956 - 1959 production run, that brought BMW to the brink of bankruptcy.
The plan was sound - build a 2-door roadster using the mechanicals of a standard BMW 503 saloon. Export the model to the US (and follow the success of the similar Mercedes-Benz 300 SL), reap the rewards, and capitalise on the goodwill, to build a market State-side.
Unfortunately, the projected price increased significantly during development, causing the US price to rise to a level which constrained sales. Originally, BMW planned to sell 5,000 units per year. The timing was partly to blame - US makers were in a phase of significant power increases, with the fitment of ever larger V8 engines. The 507 had a V8, but only a mere 3.2 litres and 150 bhp. The Mercedes had arrived to the market a couple of years earlier, an was much more powerful in the (later) 300 SL Roadster model.
The losses were so significant that BMW was brought to the brink of bankruptcy, and would take a decade to recover from.
Today, the 507 is highly regarded for its stylistic beauty - the styling was reworked in 1999 for the BMW Z8 luxury sports roadster model, again, a model focused on the US market, were, again the price limited sales.
I photographed this car in the Ferrari Owners' Club area in the paddock at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992. It's a 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Barchetta, chassis 0136E with bodywork by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan. It has a 2,563cc V12 engine designed by Gioacchino Colombo and was first owned by Bobby Baird from Northern Ireland, who with Jean Lucas finished in sixth place with the car in the 1951 Tourist Trophy race at Dundrod, winning the 3 litre class.
