One of the satellite dishes of the "Erdfunkstelle Raisting" put directly onto the little church "St. Johannes der Täufer" - well, actually it is some distance behind the church, taken exploiting the telephoto compression.
The church was build around 1428 in late Gothic style.

C'est en 1819 qu'un moulin à vent voit le jour à Villeneuve-Minervois, au milieu des vignes, à 500 mètres du village au lieu dit Pech Rouzaud. Exploité jusqu'en 1890, Pierre OURLIAC en fut le dernier meunier. Mais après la disparition de celui-ci le moulin tomba petit à petit en décrépitude . Les derniers vestiges dans les années 1980 étaient, outre les murs, des fragments de meules éparpillés dans le tas de gravats qui couvrait le sol du moulin, le tout au milieu des vignes.
Mais en 2001, Frédéric Bénazeth, jeune entrepreneur fils du dernier propriétaire, ayant découvert l'histoire de ce moulin qui n'était encore qu'un mur circulaire empli de gravats, décide de mettre son enthousiasme et sa passion dans la reconstruction du moulin.Il choisit de faire appel à un artisan spécialiste de la restauration des charpentes anciennes, afin de reconstituer au plus près les mécanismes, tout en gardant à notre moulin tout son cachet.Le moment délicat a été l’assemblage de la coiffe, suivi du montage de la voilure.
Et puis ce furent les premiers tours d’aile… quelle émotion de voir ce majestueux mécanisme s’ébrouer, comme s’il avait sommeillé un siècle en attendant un nouveau meunier !

Celle ci a une saveur tout à fait particulière puisque c'est enfin mon tout premier Martin 2020 , après m'être cassé les dents à plusieurs reprises sur mes spots habituels ces derniers temps , j'ai donc décidé de changer de tactique en exploitant d'autres endroits , armé d'une paire de jumelles j'ai cherché les indices m'indiquant ses lieux de pêche , et je suis tombé finalement sur une grosse branche de saule qui surplombe la rivière et c'est depuis cette branche que j'ai pu observer mon gaillard en action de pêche , ni une ni deux j'ai mis en place mon fameux mode opératoire habituel en fichant sur la berge un perchoir non loin de la branche et finalement ce matin là il est venu à deux reprises prendre possession de son tout nouveau plongeoir .

This one has a very special flavor since it's finally my very first Martin 2020, after having broken my teeth several times on my usual spots lately, so I decided to change tactics by exploiting 'other places, armed with a pair of binoculars I looked for clues indicating its fishing grounds, and I finally came across a large willow branch overlooking the river and it is from this branch that I I was able to observe my fellow fishing, neither one nor two I set up my famous usual operating mode by tying a perch on the bank not far from the branch and finally that morning he came twice to take possession of its brand new diving board.

Pôle Nord de la Terre, décembre 3218
« Ce 21 décembre 3218, un premier groupe d’humains dont les ancêtres ont fuit une Terre devenue inhabitable - cette triste période l’histoire connue sous le nom de Grande Migration - se pose sur ces terres désolées et méconnaissables du Pôle Nord de la Terre. Leur mission : chercher des réponses aux interrogations suivantes : l’évolution de la Terre est-elle irréversible? La vie pourra t-elle un jour y prospérer de nouveau? Dans quelles conditions?

THALASSA - Planète océanique, refuge des humains, 3208
Chants de la Terre lointaine (The Songs of Distant Earth), un poème épique, écrit par une écrivaine du nom de Cassiopée Clarke, jusque-là inconnue, bouleverse l’âme des habitants de la planète. Ce poème réveille en eux la douleur ancestrale de la migration de leurs ancêtres, de la perte de leur planète d’origine, de leur culture, de leur histoire. L’héroïne du poème ressent cette douleur, mais aussi quelque chose de plus intime et étrange à la fois : une impossible connexion avec cette Terre lointaine - ses Chants - qui lui révèleraient que la Terre abrite encore et toujours, les vibrations uniques de la vie. Sous la pression du public, les autorités planétaires décident d’organiser une expédition de reconnaissance vers la Terre. La poétesse Clarke, est invitée à se joindre à l’équipe scientifique du vaisseau spatial Earth One.

Le Commandant de la mission - « Madame Clarke, je suis désolé, mais notre équipe scientifique arrive à la conclusion que le cycle destructeur qui a conduit à la Grande Migration ne s’est pas inversé. Les continents qui ne sont pas inondés, sont devenus désertiques, balayés par des vents violents et brûlants. Nous estimons que 80% de la surface la planète est inhabitable par des humains. À l’exception des Pôles, l’air est irrespirable. La vie subsiste dans les profondeurs des mers nordiques, mais sous une forme très simplifiée. L’exploitation des ressources minières - ce dont nous avons réellement besoin - serait non-économique selon nos experts. Leur recommandation est de mettre fin à cette mission. Avez-vous quelque chose à ajouter, Madame? »
En guise de réponse, Madame Clarke offrit ses larmes. Il valait mieux taire son secret, cette certitude qui était maintenant sienne, que ses Chants lui avaient dit la vérité, que la vie reprendrait ses droits sur cette planète, mais qu’il était absolument vital de tenir les humains à l’écart. Elle essuya ses larmes de joie et les préparatifs du retour vers Thalassa débutèrent.

Their mission: to seek answers to the following questions: is the evolution of the Earth irreversible? Can life ever prosper again? Under what conditions?

THALASSA - Oceanic planet, refuge of humans, 3208
The Songs of Distant Earth, an epic poem, written by a writer named Cassiopeia Clarke, until then unknown, moves the souls of the inhabitants of the planet. This poem awakens in them the ancestral pain of the migration of their ancestors, of the loss of their home planet, their culture, their history. The heroine of the poem feels this pain, but also something more intimate and strange at the same time: an impossible connection with this distant Earth - her Songs - which would reveal to her that the Earth still and always shelters the unique vibrations of life. Under public pressure, the planetary authorities decide to organize a scouting expedition to Earth. Poet Clarke is invited to join the scientific team to the spacecraft Earth One.

NORTH POLE OF THE EARTH, three months after arrival
Mission Commander - "Mrs. Clarke, I'm sorry, but our science team has come to the conclusion that the destructive cycle that led to the Great Migration has not been reversed. The continents which are not flooded have become desert, swept by strong and scorching winds. We estimate that 80% of the planet's surface is uninhabitable by humans. With the exception of the Poles, the air is unbreathable. Life subsists in the depths of the northern seas, but in a very simplified form. The exploitation of mineral resources - what we really need - would be uneconomic according to our experts. Their recommendation is to end this mission. Do you have anything to add, Madame? "
In response, Mrs. Clarke offered her tears. It was better to hide her secret, this certainty that was now hers, that her Songs had told the truth, that life would take back its rights on this planet, but that it was absolutely vital to keep humans away. She wiped away her tears of joy and the preparations for the return to Thalassa began.

A lovely woodland walk amongst magnificent old trees in the National forest of Tomnafinnoge Woods, County Wicklow, Ireland.
“Tomnafinnoge Woods is the last surviving fragment of the great Oak Woods of Tinahely, which once clothed the hills and valleys of south Wicklow, Ireland. As early as 1444 these woods supplied timber for the construction of King's College, Cambridge, and later for Westminster Abbey, St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin and Trinity College, Dublin. In 1634, the woods were estimated to cover 'more than many thousand acres', but from then on they were heavily exploited especially for shipbuilding.
Today the woods are owned and protected by the Irish State. They are included in the Slaney River Valley candidate Special Area of Conservation.[2] A tributary of the Slaney, the River Derry flows through the woods. This is one of the best places in Ireland to see the great spotted woodpecker, which has recently recolonised the country.“ (Wikipedia)
We met these two horses and we brought them some apples every day for one week. They wait for us at the sunsets when we got back from our visits to Maremma beauties. They were giant compare to us but they moved slowly and gently around my daughters and we left them with sorrow in the heart but happy to leave them knowing they were free in a huge area and not exploited for tourists.

It was declared a National Historic monument.
It was a property of Juan Narbona who exploited it like limekiln.
In the year 1738 there was constructed an oratory and a chapel that were the only ones between Montevideo and Villa Soriano
The Estancia de Narbona, (Narbona’s Farm), built by Don Juan de Narbona in 1732, is an archeological relic. Its Chapel and Oratory were the only ones that existed at those times between Montevideo and Villa Soriano. They were related to the Camacho family, and they are near the Camacho Bridge, surrounded by a beautiful park.

Noisy and gregarious, these cheerful exploiters of man's rubbish and wastefulness have managed to colonise most of the world. The ultimate avian opportunist perhaps. Monitoring suggests a severe decline in the UK house sparrow population, recently estimated as dropping by 71 per cent between 1977 and 2008 with substantial declines in both rural and urban populations. While the decline in England continues, Breeding Bird Survey data indicate recent population increases in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Los lagos de Covadonga son dos pequeños lagos, el Enol y el Ercina, de origen glaciar situados en la parte asturiana del parque nacional de los Picos de Europa, en el macizo occidental de dicha cadena montañosa. Existe un tercer lago, el Bricial, que solo tiene agua durante el deshielo, pero también pertenece al conjunto
Se sitúan en el concejo de Cangas de Onís y se accede a ellos a través de una carretera de 14,5 km que nace en el Real Sitio de Covadonga para llegar en primer lugar al lago Enol, incluyendo también una pequeña carretera que les llevaría hasta el Lago Ercina. Su frecuente uso desde 1983 como final de etapa en la Vuelta ciclista a España ha popularizado internacionalmente el paraje.
La afluencia masiva de turistas, sobre todo aficionados al ciclismo, ha obligado a limitar el desarrollo de pruebas ciclistas en el entorno de Los Lagos. No obstante, la zona cuenta con una infraestructura turística.
La excesiva afluencia de visitas, en especial en temporada alta, también ha supuesto que el acceso en coche a los Lagos esté restringido, pudiendo acceder únicamente utilizando el transporte público habilitado para ello. Los vehículos particulares no pueden circular por la carretera de acceso a Los Lagos durante 6 meses al año, en temporada alta. En temporada baja, no hay restricciones de acceso con vehículo particular.
En las proximidades del lago Ercina, en Buferrera, hasta 1979 se explotaron minas de hierro, manganeso y mercurio. Las personas que visitan dicho paraje tienen a su disposición un aparcamiento "aparcamiento de Buferrera", un centro de visitantes , un refugio y dos bares restaurante para su disfrute.
The lakes of Covadonga are two small lakes, Enol and Ercina, of glacial origin located in the Asturian part of the Picos de Europa national park, in the western massif of said mountain chain. There is a third lake, Bricial, which only has water during the thaw, but also belongs to the group

In the vicinity of Lake Ercina, in Buferrera, iron, manganese and mercury mines were exploited until 1979. People who visit this area have at their disposal a parking lot "Buferrera parking", a visitor center, a shelter and two restaurant bars for their enjoyment.

Les Mines d'Ocre de Bruoux, souvent appelées Mines de Bruoux, sont un ancien site minier situé sur la commune de Gargas, dans le département du Vaucluse, en France. Il est transformé en musée et site touristique naturel depuis 2009.
De par son ancienneté et ses dimensions, c'est un site unique au monde.
L’utilisation de l’ocre remonte à la période Paléolithique. C’est en 1785, à Roussillon en Vaucluse, que débute l'exploitation de ce minerai avec Jean-Etienne Astier, qui découvre le moyen de l'extraire. Ici à Gargas, c’est en 1848 que commence l’exploitation industrielle de l’ocre, qui sera utilisé principalement pour des peintures, colorations et revêtements.
L’épopée industrielle des mines de Bruoux durera plus d’un siècle. Durant cette période, des mineurs – appelés ocriers – creusaient des galeries à coups de pioche, manipulant des wagonnets tirés par des chevaux et extrayant les sables ocreux. Sans l'intervention de l'homme et l'exploitation industrielle, ce minerai serait resté caché sous une végétation de garrigue, typique de Provence.
Aujourd’hui, la Société des Ocres de France, basée à Apt, exploite la dernière carrière d’ocre à ciel ouvert d’Europe à Gargas.

Le 16 Octobre 2022, la dernière rame de voitures du type "n-waggen" de la DB effectuait son dernier train commercial entre Freudenstadt et Ludwigshafen, marquant la fin de décennies d'exploitation de ces voitures, qui auront formé la majeure partie des trains régionaux à travers toute l'Allemagne à la fin du siècle dernier, et durant les premières années 2000. Une semaine plus tard, le 23 Octobre, une tournée d'adieux était mise en marche par DB Regio, avec un train spécial Heidelberg - Trier via le Pfalz et la Saar, un secteur que ces voitures auront fréquentées pendant bien des années durant leur carrière. Ici, sur la ligne entre Saarbrücken et Trier, elles formaient la quasi-totalité des trains omnibus et semi-directs jusqu'en 2002, date de mise en service des rames automotrices série ET425 et ET426, sous le slogan "Generation Zukunft" (en français, "génération du futur"). Les dernières rames du type ont circulé dans la vallée de la Saar jusqu'en Décembre 2014, même si leurs missions ne se résumaient alors plus qu'à l'un ou l'autre train d'heure de pointe, ou supplémentaire de journée.
Retour à notre train spécial, qui vient ici de franchir la petite gare de Kanzem, sous une éclaircie miracle le jour-là, et dans un environnement encore très verdoyant et presque printanier pour la fin d'un mois d'Octobre....
L’orthographe du lieu varie selon les époques, de la première mention d’Ayguerruels vers 1180 en passant par Agrifolio, Egrefeulle, Acrifolium et Aigrefeuille… Le sanctuaire est connu par la chronologie de ses commandeurs successifs (ou précepteurs), mentionnés dans les comptes du châtelain de Bâgé. Le domaine de la commanderie comprend des terres agricoles, des bâtiments d’exploitation et une maison. L’Ordre de Saint-Lazare est propriétaire du lieu qui est exploité par un fermier. La production fournit tout ce dont la petite communauté a besoin.
En 1611, la chapelle fut rachetée par une famille protestante, les Passin, qui firent démolir le clocher de la chapelle (la cloche portant l’inscription « Sancte Lazare, ora pro nobis » disparut ainsi que l’ameublement intérieur et les autels). L’étude du bâtiment montre que des travaux de restauration sont engagés et une jonction est effectuée entre la maison et la chapelle pour créer un nouveau logement. Les terres sont remises en valeur.
Les bâtiments sont construits selon la technique traditionnelle en Bresse, avec une ossature en pans de bois remplis de torchis. Plus tard, on utilisera le pisé et les briques. Les travaux du XVIIe siècle ont complètement intégré la chapelle au corps de logis, par l’ajout de deux murs en pisé la reliant à la ferme.
La chapelle, de plan rectangulaire et doté d’une voûte en arc brisé, et construite entièrement en carrons savoyards. Ce type particulier de briques épaisses est un matériau privilégié en Bresse et Dombes entre le XIIe et le XVIe siècle, tant pour sa solidité que pour sa facilité de mise en œuvre. Ces briques étaient fabriquées et cuites dans les carronnières de la région, après extraction de l’argile locale. Les murs de la chapelle tranchent donc avec les bâtiments agricoles construits en bois et terre crue. La pierre calcaire légèrement rosée provenant du Mâconnais est utilisée dans les encadrements de porte, la fenêtre gothique et l’oculus de la chapelle.

Once we take time and effort to look behind that label, in their eyes and posture we'll recognize the same emotions we often connect only with humans: joy, fear, happiness, sadness...

Les moines de Cîteaux sont devenus propriétaires de vignes à Meursault en 1098, par donation du Duc Eudes Ier de Bourgogne à l'Abbé Robert de Molesme, fondateur de l'Abbaye de Cîteaux. Les caves, les celliers et les granges furent construits dans la vigne du "Vieux Clos" pour devenir La Maison de Cîteaux. Ce domaine fut la propriété de l'Abbaye de Cîteaux jusqu'à sa vente comme bien national en 1792. Les bâtiments restèrent inchangées jusqu'en 1865, date à laquelle le nouveau propriétaire, Jules Bernard, fit bâtir l'actuel château, au-dessus des constructions des moines. Jusqu'à l'arrivée du "Phylloxéra", le marché fut prospère. A cause de cette maladie, le Clos de vignes entourant le château de Cîteaux dut être arraché. C'est en 1995 que Philippe et Liliane Bouzereau firent l'acquisition du château pour y établir le siège de leur exploitation familiale. Le parc du château fut à nouveau planté en vigne comme jadis et les caves du XIIe siècle furent elles aussi restaurées...
N’ayant pas l’usage de toute la propriété, les Bouzereau mettent en vente le château en conservant leur activité viticole.
En 2009, Monsieur Garnier et son épouse achètent le château. Après deux années de travaux et de restauration historique, l’établissement « Le Château de Cîteaux La Cueillette » ouvre ses portes en septembre 2012. Il regroupe un hôtel, un restaurant et un spa de Fruititherapie.
Édifice de plan en T composé d'un corps central flanqué de deux pavillons, implanté au sein d'un parc arboré. Toiture, composée de toits brisés à croupe et de toits en pavillon, couverte d'ardoises. Lucarnes à couronnement rectangulaire et lucarne à baies jumelées et fronton cintré orné d'un chiffre "JB" (Jules Bernard). Édifice comprenant un rez-de-chaussée et deux étages dont un étage de comble. Moellons de pierre enduits et chaînes d'angle en pierre de taille formant pilastres. Baies rectangulaires, parfois surmontées d'une corniche moulurée ou d'un fronton triangulaire. Baies à arc déprimé. Garde-corps à balustres en pierre formant des motifs divers. Rez-de-chaussée, édifié en pierre de taille, en saillie (excepté sur la façade nord du corps central) formant terrasses avec garde-corps à balustres en pierre. Au sud, terrasse accessible par un vaste escalier en pierre à montées convergentes. Travée centrale surmontée d'un fronton-pignon cintré orné d'un cartouche sculpté portant le chiffre "JB" (Jules Bernard).

Son nom arabe "al-Kahf", la grotte, dénote son passé d'exploitation minière commencée par les romains.
Les mines de Alquife furent et continuent à être l'orgueil minier de la province de Grenade. C'est une exploitation en plein air et elle jouit d'une beauté caractéristique.
Depuis très longtemps son histoire a été liée à l'extraction de minéraux que les romains utilisaient déjà.
Pendant la période arabe-andalouse les mines continuèrent à être exploitées et ce sont les arabes qui donnèrent un nouveau nom au lieu: al-Kahf, d'où vient Alquife.
Historiquement, il fait partie de la région connue sous le nom de Marquesado del Zenete.
Lagos de Covadonga, Asturias, España.
El conjunto de los lagos de Covadonga está formado por dos pequeños lagos, el Enol y el Ercina de origen glaciar situados en la parte asturiana del Parque Nacional de los Picos de Europa, en el macizo occidental de dicha cadena montañosa. Existe un tercer lago, el Bricial, que solo tiene agua durante el deshielo, pero también pertenece al conjunto. En Asturias son conocidos simplemente como los lagos.
Se sitúan en el concejo de Cangas de Onís y se accede a ellos a través de una carretera de 14,5 km que nace en el Real Sitio de Covadonga para llegar en primer lugar al lago Enol, incluyendo también una pequeña carretera que les llevaría hasta el Lago Ercina. Su frecuente uso desde 1983 como final de etapa en la Vuelta ciclista a España ha popularizado internacionalmente el paraje.
La afluencia masiva de turistas, sobre todo aficionados al ciclismo, ha obligado a limitar el desarrollo de pruebas ciclistas en el entorno de Los Lagos. No obstante, la zona cuenta con una infraestructura turística.
La excesiva afluencia de visitas, en especial en temporada alta, también ha supuesto que el acceso en coche a los Lagos esté restringido, pudiendo acceder únicamente utilizando el transporte público habilitado para ello. Los vehículos particulares solo pueden circular a primera hora de la mañana (antes de las 8:30 a.m) y a última de la tarde ( a partir de las 20:00p.m). En temporada baja, no hay rectricciones de acceso con vehículo particular.
En las proximidades del lago Ercina, en Buferrera, hasta 1979 se explotaron minas de hierro, manganeso y mercurio. Las personas que visitan dicho paraje tienen a su disposición un aparcamiento "aparcamiento de Buferrera", un centro de visitantes , un refugio y dos bares restaurante para su disfrute.
The set of Covadonga lakes is made up of two small lakes, the Enol and the Ercina, of glacial origin, located in the Asturian part of the Picos de Europa National Park, in the western massif of said mountain range. There is a third lake, the Bricial, which only has water during the thaw, but it also belongs to the whole.In Asturias they are known simply as the lakes.

Private vehicles can only circulate first thing in the morning (before 8:30 a.m.) and late in the afternoon (after 20:00 p.m.). In low season, there are no access restrictions with a private vehicle.
In the vicinity of Lake Ercina, in Buferrera, iron, manganese and mercury mines were exploited until 1979. People who visit this place have at their disposal a "Buferrera parking" car park, a visitor center, a shelter and two restaurant bars for their enjoyment.
The island of Gyali. The southwestern part of the island is composed of thick layers of pumice, which are deposited there by two explosions after the formation of Nisyros. The first eruption left on shallow seas over 160 meters of thick layers of pumice, which the company LAVA Mining & Quarrying exploits since 1956. The northeastern part of the island is composed entirely of thick natural streams of glass (hence the name of the island), like the well-known obsidian and perlite.
RE4098 Freudenstadt Hbf-Ludwigshafen
Circulant chaque week-end à la belle saison entre Ludwigshafen et Freudenstadt, le "Murgtäler Radexpress" était le dernier train DB exploité avec des voitures de type N-Wagen en Allemagne. L'ultime circulation commerciale a en effet eu lieu en ce mois d'Octobre 2022.
L'habituelle 111 189 rouge d'ordinaire affectée à la traction de ce train était à l'arrêt depuis le début de l'été, il a donc fallu trouver des solutions alternatives. En juillet, la 111 074 en livrée "Touristik" a rassemblé bon nombre de photographes, tandis que le premier week-end d'Août, c'est la 218 460 en livrée bleu beige qui a été dépêchée.
Alors qu'elle laisse derrière elle le massif de la forêt noire, la 218-460 s'apprête à desservir la gare de Rastatt avant de filer plein nord sur la Rheintalbahn.
Tunnel de l'ancienne voie ferrée, dite "ligne du charbon" sur laquelle transitaient les trains de transports de l'anthracite des mines du bassin d'Alès vers la vallée du Rhône, Lyon. L'ancienne voie ferrée est devenue "voie verte" et relie le département de l'Ardèche à celui du Gard. Les deux régions Occitanie et Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne, semblent bien ne pas s'accorder sur la politique de réhabilitation et d'exploitation de la plupart des moyens de transports interrégionaux, dont la voie ferrée de la rive droite du Rhône dont l'exploitation commerciale pourrait se poursuivre après la gare d'Aramon-Pont-du-Gard.

Turquoise Lake is one of the tourist attractions of Wolin National Park. It is located south of the village of Wapnica (Międzyzdroje commune). Its area is 6.74 ha and it is 21.2 m deep. Since the groundwater level is 2.6 m above sea level, the lake forms a crypto depression with a depth of 18.6 m below sea level.
Before World War II, there was a chalk mine on the site of today's Turquoise Lake. After the end of World War II, the Russians dismantled the equipment located there and the open-cast mine gradually began to fill with water. In 1948, the Polish authorities decided to resume exploitation of the deposit, but by 1954 the chalk deposit had already been exhausted.
There is a karst phenomenon in the lake. The name of the lake comes from the bluish-green color of the water surface, which is caused by the splitting of sunlight in clear water and the reflections of the white chalk substrate with calcium carbonate compounds remaining on the bottom.

Im See gibt es ein Karstphänomen. Der Name des Sees stammt von der bläulich-grünen Farbe der Wasseroberfläche, die durch die Aufspaltung des Sonnenlichts in klares Wasser und die Reflexionen des weißen Kreidesubstrats mit am Boden verbliebenen Calciumcarbonatverbindungen entsteht.

DB Cargo Tug 60039 'Dove Holes' passes through the station and disappears east with the 12.20pm Toton Sidings - Boston Steel 'pig-pens' (6E02). Meantime, Cross Country unit 170114 stands at platform 4 after arriving with the 9.45am ex-Cardiff (1M60).
Bay platform 5 is to the near right, and currently empty. Once a through platform it was turned into a bay during the track modifications made a few years ago intended to increase the station's capacity.
I couldn't resist exploiting the shape and rippled texture of those 'pig-pen' wagons, and who knows how long they'll be around.

The dutch wetlands , the grienden III
In the Netherlands we have our own wetlands, looe a bit like a tropical swamp in the summer heat, while in spring time, one can enjoy the special shapes of the willow trees.
The grienden close to our home and in this serie are the Carnisse grienden.

A griend or ham is a moist field on which willow wood is grown. Friends were exploited on a large scale until around 1960, after which the demand for griendhout fell sharply so that many friends were no longer maintained. Sometimes they got the status of nature reserve. The reintroduction of the beaver in the Netherlands was an attempt to achieve a natural management of the friends.
Because of the possibility to grow biofuels, they have been in the spotlight again since 2010.
Location
Friends often lay along the sea inlets on the dikes outside the dykes and in the rivers of South Holland and Noord-Brabant, especially the Biesbosch. Due to land reclamation, most of them have now often been located within the dykes, with the exception of, for example, the Rhoonse Grienden. The plantations outside the dykes are subject to tidal movement of the water level. That is why these friends were often provided with a friendly hill; a small mound with a griendkeet on it. This was a simple place where the griend workers could spend the night; they often stayed with the griend all week. Simple houseboats were also used for the same purpose.
Cultivation
The trees were planted and regularly dropped about 25 cm above the ground. New branches grew from the stumps. An annually disposed griend was called cut friend, doubtful or doubtful. The thin twigs were especially suitable for making baskets. Friends who were harvested every five years were called 'heel friends'. The heavier branches were suitable for many purposes, from stems for tools to the braiding of zinc pieces.

The Estancia de Narbona, (Narbona’s Farm), built by Don Juan de Narbona in 1732, is an archeological relic. Its Chapel and Oratory were the only ones that existed at those times between Montevideo and Villa Soriano. They were related to the Camacho family, and they are near the Camacho Bridge, surrounded by a beautiful park.

OK...it's a bit of a mess this...but you gotta try stuff....and I accidentally erased the original so this is all I have. A child and father in the labyrinth of Salts Mill...which when it was built, mills employed children not much older. Exploitation existed everywhere....if that's what it was.
