L’exploitation d’une carrière conduit à la création d’habitats devenus rares en Belgique tels que des falaises et arènes rocheuses ou sablonneuses, des éboulis, des mares temporaires, des pelouses calcaires… Ces milieux générés par l’activité extractive permettent l’installation et le développement de nombreuses populations d’espèces pionnières à haute valeur biologique.
L’objectif général du projet LIFE in Quarries est de développer et de pérenniser ce potentiel d’accueil de la biodiversité dans différents sites d’extraction en activité en Wallonie. L’originalité du projet repose sur la mise en œuvre des mesures de gestion de la biodiversité durant la phase d’exploitation de la carrière et non pas uniquement dans le cadre de la réhabilitation en fin d’activité.

Celle ci a une saveur tout à fait particulière puisque c'est enfin mon tout premier Martin 2020 , après m'être cassé les dents à plusieurs reprises sur mes spots habituels ces derniers temps , j'ai donc décidé de changer de tactique en exploitant d'autres endroits , armé d'une paire de jumelles j'ai cherché les indices m'indiquant ses lieux de pêche , et je suis tombé finalement sur une grosse branche de saule qui surplombe la rivière et c'est depuis cette branche que j'ai pu observer mon gaillard en action de pêche , ni une ni deux j'ai mis en place mon fameux mode opératoire habituel en fichant sur la berge un perchoir non loin de la branche et finalement ce matin là il est venu à deux reprises prendre possession de son tout nouveau plongeoir .

PS : Un grand merci à toutes celles et ceux qui choisissent de regarder , de commenter et d'aimer mes photos . This one has a very special flavor since it's finally my very first Martin 2020, after having broken my teeth several times on my usual spots lately, so I decided to change tactics by exploiting 'other places, armed with a pair of binoculars I looked for clues indicating its fishing grounds, and I finally came across a large willow branch overlooking the river and it is from this branch that I I was able to observe my fellow fishing, neither one nor two I set up my famous usual operating mode by tying a perch on the bank not far from the branch and finally that morning he came twice to take possession of its brand new diving board.

We met these two horses and we brought them some apples every day for one week. They wait for us at the sunsets when we got back from our visits to Maremma beauties. They were giant compare to us but they moved slowly and gently around my daughters and we left them with sorrow in the heart but happy to leave them knowing they were free in a huge area and not exploited for tourists.

La station de Roubaix est mise en service en novembre 1842, par la Compagnie des chemins de fer de Lille et Valenciennes à la frontière belge, lorsqu'elle ouvre à l'exploitation la section entre le ruisseau de Favreul, près de Roubaix, et la frontière. Le bâtiment principal, comprend les bureaux de recettes et ceux de la douane ainsi que les salles d'attente. En outre il est édifié un bâtiment en bois pour les marchandises, des pavages, des clôtures en palissades et divers travaux. Le tout est principalement exécuté en 1842 et les finitions sont terminées en 1843. Le coût pour la station s'élève à 150 000 francs à la charge de l'État1. Elle est édifiée au lieu-dit l'« Alouette », entre la rue de Mouvaux, franchit par un viaduc, et la rue du Fresnoy qui dispose d'un passage à niveau. La station comprend également deux cours devant les bâtiments et une remise pour des wagons derrière les voies2.

Taxco is located in the north-central part of the state, 135 kilometres from the state capital of Chilpancingo and 170 kilometres southwest of Mexico City.
It is a small but charming “Magical Town” nestled in an area surrounded by great hills and mountains, thanks to the intense exploitation of its silver deposits. Its people still live from the commerce and manufacture of objects that the precious metal allows; the baroque constructions raised during the mining boom of the Colony are still preserved.
Any terrace is good to contemplate those jewels of the past, the new and small must be sought among the cobbled streets that go up and down everywhere. In addition, Taxco has a peculiar beauty, because this magnificent Magical Town has the ability to transport us to another time and space, just to the time of colonial Mexico.

Lagos de Covadonga, Asturias, España.
Los lagos de Covadonga son dos pequeños lagos, el Enol y el Ercina, de origen glaciar situados en la parte asturiana del parque nacional de los Picos de Europa, en el macizo occidental de dicha cadena montañosa. Existe un tercer lago, el Bricial, que solo tiene agua durante el deshielo, pero también pertenece al conjunto
Se sitúan en el concejo de Cangas de Onís y se accede a ellos a través de una carretera de 14,5 km que nace en el Real Sitio de Covadonga para llegar en primer lugar al lago Enol, incluyendo también una pequeña carretera que les llevaría hasta el Lago Ercina. Su frecuente uso desde 1983 como final de etapa en la Vuelta ciclista a España ha popularizado internacionalmente el paraje.
La afluencia masiva de turistas, sobre todo aficionados al ciclismo, ha obligado a limitar el desarrollo de pruebas ciclistas en el entorno de Los Lagos. No obstante, la zona cuenta con una infraestructura turística.
La excesiva afluencia de visitas, en especial en temporada alta, también ha supuesto que el acceso en coche a los Lagos esté restringido, pudiendo acceder únicamente utilizando el transporte público habilitado para ello. Los vehículos particulares no pueden circular por la carretera de acceso a Los Lagos durante 6 meses al año, en temporada alta. En temporada baja, no hay restricciones de acceso con vehículo particular.
En las proximidades del lago Ercina, en Buferrera, hasta 1979 se explotaron minas de hierro, manganeso y mercurio. Las personas que visitan dicho paraje tienen a su disposición un aparcamiento "aparcamiento de Buferrera", un centro de visitantes , un refugio y dos bares restaurante para su disfrute.

They are located in the municipality of Cangas de Onís and are accessed through a 14.5 km road that begins in the Royal Site of Covadonga to first reach Lake Enol, also including a small road that would take them to Lake Ercina. Its frequent use since 1983 as the end of the stage in the Cycling Tour of Spain has made the place internationally popular.
The massive influx of tourists, especially cycling fans, has forced the development of cycling events in the Los Lagos area to be limited. However, the area has a tourist infrastructure.
The excessive influx of visitors, especially in high season, has also meant that access by car to the Lakes is restricted, with access only possible using public transport enabled for this purpose. Private vehicles cannot circulate on the access road to Los Lagos for 6 months a year, during high season. In low season, there are no access restrictions with a private vehicle.
In the vicinity of Lake Ercina, in Buferrera, iron, manganese and mercury mines were exploited until 1979. People who visit this area have at their disposal a parking lot "Buferrera parking", a visitor center, a shelter and two restaurant bars for their enjoyment.
Ce qui explose, quand explosent les censures imposées par les dirigeants, c'est un ordre moral fondé sur l'exploitation de tous. La famille, la virilité guerrière, la pudeur, toutes les valeurs traditionnelles visent à assigner chaque sexe à son rôle. Les Mines d'Ocre de Bruoux, souvent appelées Mines de Bruoux, sont un ancien site minier situé sur la commune de Gargas, dans le département du Vaucluse, en France. Il est transformé en musée et site touristique naturel depuis 2009.
De par son ancienneté et ses dimensions, c'est un site unique au monde.
L’utilisation de l’ocre remonte à la période Paléolithique. C’est en 1785, à Roussillon en Vaucluse, que débute l'exploitation de ce minerai avec Jean-Etienne Astier, qui découvre le moyen de l'extraire. Ici à Gargas, c’est en 1848 que commence l’exploitation industrielle de l’ocre, qui sera utilisé principalement pour des peintures, colorations et revêtements.
L’épopée industrielle des mines de Bruoux durera plus d’un siècle. Durant cette période, des mineurs – appelés ocriers – creusaient des galeries à coups de pioche, manipulant des wagonnets tirés par des chevaux et extrayant les sables ocreux. Sans l'intervention de l'homme et l'exploitation industrielle, ce minerai serait resté caché sous une végétation de garrigue, typique de Provence.
Aujourd’hui, la Société des Ocres de France, basée à Apt, exploite la dernière carrière d’ocre à ciel ouvert d’Europe à Gargas.

Sentier des ocres - Roussillon (84)
Avec l'exploitation de l'ocre la main de l'homme a transformé le paysage Roussillonnais, les éléments naturels (l'eau, le vent, les pluies) poursuivent le travail des ocriers avec l'érosion mais, le résultat est tout simplement splendide (la « chaussée des géants », les « cheminées de fées » et le « val des fées »).
On ne se lasse pas d'admirer ces falaises couleur or et sang.

Son nom arabe "al-Kahf", la grotte, dénote son passé d'exploitation minière commencée par les romains.
Les mines de Alquife furent et continuent à être l'orgueil minier de la province de Grenade. C'est une exploitation en plein air et elle jouit d'une beauté caractéristique.
Depuis très longtemps son histoire a été liée à l'extraction de minéraux que les romains utilisaient déjà.
Pendant la période arabe-andalouse les mines continuèrent à être exploitées et ce sont les arabes qui donnèrent un nouveau nom au lieu: al-Kahf, d'où vient Alquife.
Historiquement, il fait partie de la région connue sous le nom de Marquesado del Zenete.
Tunnel de l'ancienne voie ferrée, dite "ligne du charbon" sur laquelle transitaient les trains de transports de l'anthracite des mines du bassin d'Alès vers la vallée du Rhône, Lyon. L'ancienne voie ferrée est devenue "voie verte" et relie le département de l'Ardèche à celui du Gard. Les deux régions Occitanie et Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne, semblent bien ne pas s'accorder sur la politique de réhabilitation et d'exploitation de la plupart des moyens de transports interrégionaux, dont la voie ferrée de la rive droite du Rhône dont l'exploitation commerciale pourrait se poursuivre après la gare d'Aramon-Pont-du-Gard.

Description : le circaète est un grand rapace d’apparence blanche assez facilement observable en vol ou perché sur le sommet d’un arbre, un rocher ou un pylône électrique. Le circaète est un spécialiste du vol stationnaire qu’il pratique couramment, même par vent fort, pour repérer ses proies.
Le ventre et les sous-caudales sont blancs, parsemés de taches ou de flammèches beiges à marron chocolat. L’extrémité des rémiges est noire. La tête, la gorge et la poitrine sont d’un brun plus ou moins foncé. La coloration générale, le nombre et la taille des taches varient d’un individu à l’autre, mais restent fixes dans le temps. Certains individus pouvant présenter un plumage presque entièrement blanc en dessous, avec seulement quelques marques beiges sur la partie inférieure du plastron. Sur le dos, le contraste entre les couvertures alaires plus claires et les rémiges sombres est bien marqué. La queue est barrée de trois bandes sombres plus ou moins larges.
Sa grosse tête rappelle celle d’une chouette et ses yeux en position quasiment faciale, sont jaune pâle chez les jeunes et se pigmentent au cours du temps pour devenir jaune d’or à orangé chez l’adulte.
Les tarses gris jaune sont longs et couverts d’écailles épaisses. Les doigts sont courts, adaptés à la capture des reptiles. C’est cette caractéristique qui apparait dans son nom anglais : short-toed eagle. Le bec est gris-bleu et bordé d’une cire grisâtre.
Comme chez la majorité des rapaces, la femelle est plus grosse que le mâle (la taille de ce dernier correspond à 91% de celle de la femelle).
De mi-août à mi-octobre (voire novembre parfois), les circaètes migrent via le Bosphore et Gibraltar dans toute la zone sahélienne. Les individus des populations orientales migrent généralement plus vers le sous-continent indien et de temps en temps au sud-est de l’Asie. Les circaètes se déplacent seuls ou en petits groupes, mêlés à d’autres espèces de rapaces qui effectuent le même trajet. Ces quartiers d’hiver sont occupés de septembre à mars et le retour a principalement lieu entre mi-mars et mi-avril. Occasionnellement, il peut avoir lieu fin février en France.
Les reptiles, et principalement les serpents, constituent 90 % de son régime alimentaire. Les micromammifères, les amphibiens et les oiseaux n’excèdent pas 5 % de son alimentation.
La technique de chasse du circaète est liée à la saison et aux conditions météorologiques. Par conditions de vol difficile, il chasse à l’affût, scrutant le sol de la cime d’un arbre ou du haut d’un rocher. En début de printemps, il exploite particulièrement les versants chauds, où les premiers reptiles font leurs premières sorties et les bords de plans d’eaux, où des amphibiens notamment se réunissent.
Mais le circaète pratique plus couramment le vol stationnaire. La tête parfaitement fixe, quelle que soit la force du vent, il scrute ses terrains de chasse jusqu’à repérer une proie sur laquelle il fond rapidement, en parachute. Plusieurs étapes peuvent être nécessaires au circaète pour ajuster la trajectoire.
Une fois maitrisée, la proie est immédiatement ingérée et emportée dans le jabot, la queue dépassant souvent du bec. Ses serres courtes sont bien adaptées à ce type de proies, ainsi que les écailles épaisses au niveau des tarses, qui limitent les risques de morsures graves. Toutefois, il n’est pas immunisé contre le venin des vipères.

L’exploitation du sel est passée d’une production artisanale à une production semi-industrielle depuis environ 5 ans. 13 sociétés exploitent régulièrement le Lac dont quatre grandes sociétés qui s’accaparent 90 % de l’exploitation.
Ces sociétés disposent des moyens de production tels que des bulldozers, des camions, des hangars, des machines à coudre pour ensacher. L’évolution de la production de ces industries extractives a permis de créer environ 2000 emplois par an.

* La tonne de sel (sous forme des sacs de 50 Kg) se vendait à 50 dollars en 1998. La concurrence et le manque d’organisation des sociétés ont fait chuter le prix actuellement à 24 dollars la tonne. Le sel djiboutien tel qu’il est n’est pas adapté à la consommation puisqu’il est récupéré sur la banquise qui n’est pas épargnée des déchets. En outre ce sel n’est pas iodé et il est mal conditionné, il est actuellement utilisé dans le domaine industriel. Les éthiopiens importent du sel alimentaire depuis d'autres pays

La Real Fábrica de Armas y Municiones fue una manufactura real instalada en el municipio de Orbaizeta, por orden de Carlos III de España en 1784, y se mantuvo en funcionamiento hasta 1884.
En el lugar en que fue levantada, existió desde 1432 una ferrería autorizada por Blanca I de Navarra para explotar la riqueza de metales de la zona.
Durante casi un siglo fue, junto con la Real Fábrica de Armas de Trubia, el centro industrial de carácter militar más importante del norte del país. Fue ocupada por los franceses, que la destruyeron parcialmente durante la Guerra de la Independencia. Tras litigios entre los vecinos del valle de Aézcoa y los militares, cesó en su funcionamiento en 1884.
El conjunto histórico industrial fue declarado Bien de Interés Cultural el 15 de julio de 2008, en la categoría de Monumento. En la actualidad, está incluido en la Lista Roja de patrimonio en peligro elaborada por la asociación Hispania Nostra.
The Royal Arms and Munitions Factory was a royal factory installed in the municipality of Orbaizeta, by order of Carlos III of Spain in 1784, and it remained in operation until 1884.
In the place where it was built, a foundry authorized by Blanca I of Navarra existed since 1432 to exploit the wealth of metals in the area.
For almost a century it was, together with the Royal Trubia Arms Factory, the most important industrial center of a military nature in the north of the country. It was occupied by the French, who partially destroyed it during the War of Independence. After disputes between the residents of the Aézcoa valley and the military, it ceased operations in 1884.
The historical industrial complex was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest on July 15, 2008, in the category of Monument. At present, it is included in the Red List of heritage in danger drawn up by the Hispania Nostra association.

Ctenosaura quinquecarinata, commonly known as the club tail iguana or the five-keeled spiny-tailed iguana is a species of lizard in the Iguanidae family endemic to Central America.
The tail on this species is heavily armored with five rings of spines forming longitudinal ridges. Males of the species grow to a length of 35 centimeters (14 in) whereas females attain 18.5 centimeters (7.3 in). Like most Ctenosaura the iguanas are born a bright green color fading to brown as the animal ages. The females tend to turn a uniform drab brown in color, and males develop tones of black, blue and yellow on their bodies and heads over the brown background.
Total population size is not known, but it is estimated that there may be fewer than 2,500 mature individuals. It is threatened by habitat loss through deforestation, overcollection through unregulated exploitation for the pet trade, and it is even hunted by humans as a food item. – Wikipedia

Maroon bells, aspen, colorado
The Maroon Bells are two peaks in the Elk Mountains, Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, separated by about half a kilometer (one-third of a mile).[5] The mountains are on the border between Pitkin County and Gunnison County, Colorado, United States, about 12 miles (19 km) southwest of Aspen. Both peaks are fourteeners. Maroon Peak, at 14,163 feet (4317 m), is the 27th highest peak in Colorado. North Maroon Peak, at 14,019 feet (4273 m), is the 50th highest (depending on how they are counted). The view of the Maroon Bells to the southwest from the Maroon Creek valley is commonly photographed. The peaks are located in the Maroon Bells–Snowmass Wilderness of White River National Forest.[6][7] Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness was one of five areas in Colorado designated as wilderness in the original Wilderness Act of 1964. The Wilderness area surrounds the extremely popular Maroon Bells Scenic Area, which is a major access point for Wilderness travel.[8]
Unlike other mountains in the Rockies that are composed of granite and limestone, the Bells are composed of metamorphic sedimentary mudstone that has hardened into rock over millions of years. Mudstone is weak and fractures readily, giving rise to dangerously loose rock along almost any route. A US Forest Service sign on the access trail warns would-be climbers of "downsloping, loose, rotten and unstable" rock that "kills without warning". The mudstone is also responsible for the Bells' distinctive maroon color. The Bells got their "deadly" reputation in 1965 when eight people died in five separate accidents.
Maroon Lake elevation 9,580 ft (2,920 m) occupies a basin that was sculpted by Ice-Age glaciers and later dammed by a landslide and rockfall debris from the steep slopes above the valley floor.
