This is SO much more what I'm looking for. I was able to paint it the way I really wanted it to look. [Of course, this is often the case - I paint many photos to get a look that the photo does not have.]
What I'm looking for in this case is that elusive quality of Wabi...and Suki
Wabi - simplicity, quietude, rustic beauty
Sabi - the patina of age, the concept that use can make an object more beautiful or valuable
Suki - beauty in accidental or unconventional form
After not doing any indoor photography for a long time, I thought I'd clean the tank, get the paints and put new batteries in the flash.
I really need to make a rig or find another pair of hands. I also need to read the instructions for my flash and figure out what's going on with the sync.
This was shot with the flash handheld above the tank and fired manually.

Not a real space photo. Light art. No Photoshop manipulations. Single exposure: gas clouds/nebula created using Waterworld technique (100mm lens); background/foreground stars 16-35mm lens, LED/laser/plastic.
Here in Southeastern Utah, trailer homes are a popular housing option where boom and bust economies exist. In some areas, an old trailer, and or an old kitchen appliance, and or dead cars are part of the landscape and can even be considered sort of religious icons or art projects as they get traded around between family members and close friends.
I have my own trailer, (sans old kitchen appliances and dead cars) acquired years back to serve as a quiet/artistic space away from the "flying f**ks" and drywall dust that banged and floated around the house while we were remodeling our home. It now serves as storage for boating and camping gear.
On stormy evenings, when the setting sun peeks through clouds, the trailer's door and windows glow an other-worldly gold with the white siding fading to blue. The scene always seems to present itself at times when I'm cooking dinner or too tired and lazy to pick up the camera.
Last week, while photographing storm clouds, I went to the back of the house for possible rainbow views and saw the gold without any rainbow and decided to dance a little with ICM and Multiple exposure.
It's amazing what you find when you look.
Spring 2017 polaroid week
day 4
trial & error - first time attempting a layered emulsion lift & it did not go as I had envisioned. that's okay, though, now I know more than I did before.
Now, this looks Christmassy!
Bridge was acting up, so after I fixed it I worked on this : )
With a bit of a reverse vignette in Raw, for a more ethereal look.
I had a long and good chat with one of my freinds this night and it really got me exited to try something new, so this is an experimental series of shots and im pretty happy how the pictures came out with this easy but strange method!
This is an experiment with a (for me) new type of lightning tool. It is a bit brighter than I would like and I will have to experiment a bit to find a real use for it.
Still I thought the outcome was at least moderately interesting.
