Very late Saturday evening (20:30), Perth bound Indian Pacific 7SA8, led by NR26 is seen departing Murrobo near Blayney - the beginning of a long night traversing the rails of Western NSW.
In this photo, you can see the diversification of vehicles on the streets of Beijing, VW from Germany, Peugeot from France, Honda from Japan, Ford Mustang from the United States, and Xiaopeng Motors, a famous brand of electric vehicles in China. The same is true in every big city in China, of course, there are Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, known to the Chinese by the abbreviation BBA, and Tesla.
German cars have achieved great success in the Chinese market in the era of gasoline engines. In the future, it is believed that they will encounter great challenges from electric vehicles in China and the United States.
An Maynooth bound 2900 Dmu crosses the Ryewater Aqueduct on the approach to Leixlip Louisa Bridge station, Co kildare.
The aqueduct which nowadays is a fairly anonymous and hidden feature was a daunting engineering project of it's day. It is essentially a massive 80m high earth embankment that crosses the small Rye river which flows through a tunnel Culvert below in the valley. The viaduct took six years and a third of the canal company capital to build in the 1790's and originally only carried the Royal Canal. The MGWR added the railway as they bought the canal as a easy already surveyed route west, opening from Broadstone, Dublin (Now closed) to Mullingar in 1848.
In recent years as train speeds have got faster the tight twisting curves of building alongside the canal have inhibited higher speed upgrades then the present levels.
