Went out to Crescent Beach today. The rain has finally been replaced by sun, at least for a few days.
Evening primrose flowers (Oenothera biennis) are still partly open the morning after they burst open at sunset on the previous day.

Wetter umlodern am Horizont
Das kühne Lebensspiel der Großstadt.
Zwischen abenteuerlichen Wolken
Schwimmt verloren der Mond.
In meine Dachkammer flackern herauf
Und fletschen herein Dämonen der Gasse.
Doch groß und schweigend winken
Vom Himmel her die Lichter der Luft.
Da springt ein Windstoß
Verwegen auf den Dachrand
Und stürzt sich kopfüber hinab
In die Schwüle der Nacht —
Und säulengerade hebt sich ein Staub hoch
Und durchwandelt die bleiche Straße
Gespensterhaft ...
Gesang der Arbeit,
Gesang von Fluch und Segen!
Das dröhnt da unten,
Das wühlt im Blut!
Und Fülle von Lichtkugeln
Ãœberflammt in jenen gewaltigen
Eisenbogen und donnernden Hallen
Den Vollmond und den nichtigen Blitz ...
Sei gerecht, mein Herz!
Diese Stadt ist schön und stark,

No sooner had the return 'Fellsman' steam charter passed Ais Gill the sun appeared, producing stunning early evening light. On my walk back to the Moorcock Inn, before boarding my train home, I had the opportunity of catching the 4S00 Clitheroe-Mossend loaded cement in the stunning light. DB Schenker 66162 is seen powering away from Moorcock tunnel and Lunds viaduct on Wednesday 28th August 2013.

BR class 9F no. 92220 'Evening Star' departs from Leeds for York on 29 October 1977 with the 'Pennine Ranger', a 6000 Loco Association charter which had been hauled from Carnforth by LNER class A4 no. 4498.
Another evening with beautiful calm water. The only ripples were from jumping fish. A fantastic way to spend our last day away. Captured this on Saturday August 14th.
