I combined several images together and added some painterly effects with Topaz Labs. The effect enhances the beautiful shape of the tree.
The car roof serves as a tripod as the WC White Pine turn arrives at Bergland, Michigan at dusk. The shore of Lake Gogebic is in the background.
As I recall, I first intercepted the train at Tula (about 12 miles to the west) in late afternoon and gave chase, but the line's 10 mph track speed (with occasional slow orders!) only got the train as far as here before the light ran out and I let it go and travelled on.

An unidentified class 31 catches the last of the evening sun as it passes Bathpool near Taunton in September 1973 with an eastbound freight.

I do love the evening light for taking pictures - really interesting shadows and tones. This one was taken close before sundown.
Evening light over Foveaux Strait/ Te Ara-a-Kiwa. Rakiura/Stewart Island in distance. The strait which separates Rakiura/Stewart Island from Te Waipounamu / South Island is quite shallow (18 to 46 m) and is said to be one of the roughest and most unpredictable stretches of water in the world.

The sun was going down ,at Lake Mburo,when I heard these birds singing.I assume that they are a pair & they sang a fine duet.
