Etching by Don Magno

In everything that bows gracefully there must be an effort at stiffness. Bows are beautiful when they bend only because they try to remain rigid. Rigidity yielding a little, like justice swayed by mercy, is the whole beauty of the earth.

Etching on Copper. My preferite tree over the "siligate", in Pesaro (Italy)

I'd already done a large painting of this lovely lady I spotted a few years ago, and thought she'd make for an interesting print. Aquatint, chine-collé.

I believe that this qualifies as an etching on stinless steel. There are several of these inside the ASM International Headquarters building.

The print has been done for the weddng of two friends of mine, Lorena and Riccardo. Marriage, like life, is a journey toward our destiny. Those shoes were my first shoes, when I started to walk.

I'm intended to work again over this plate and add a mezzotint. I'll let you know. Just a matter of time, because work make me busy.

Peckham. House burned during rioting- Back View

A smooth piece of Verdite (sometimes referred to as African jade) with an etching of an antelope (I believe this is a Nyala based on the horn curvature). I purchased this off of eBay years ago. I know I have had it for at least 12 years as it was on my work desk in 2008, if not earlier.

I used Topaz Sharpen AI to Stabilize the image which minimized a very slight off-focus look of the overall image.

found today, it is signed below as jg ft 1828 so Initials JG and fecit (made ) 1828. Size is 16cm x 13.5, on the back is half of another engraving so the plate was presumibly cut down and reused. I love the subject matter and check out the little child drawing on the floor.

ps sorry I haven't been about, hoping to get more involved in a couple of weeks

Parkes hand pulled the engravings with the endorsement of Monte Wolverton, Basil's son. Limited to 100 s/# prints each. The scans don't even come close to showing how great these look in person. Image area is 5" x 7"
