This is a set of brass plates that I etched using the electrolytic etching process outlined at steampunkworkshop.com/electroetch.shtml
I created the Justice themed copper plates, and added the two plates to moleskin notebooks for a lawyer I know.

Écoutez la chanson lente d'un batelier
Qui raconte avoir vu sous la lune sept femmes
Tordre leurs cheveux verts et longs jusqu'à leurs pieds..."

After his arrest, Christ was crowned with thorns, cloaked in a purple robe and mocked as 'King of the Jews'. The high priests brought him to the Roman governor Pontius Pilate, who did not wish to sentence him to death. Rembrandt represents his dilemma masterfully. Pilate refuses to take his rod - a traditional sign of judicial sovereignty - because he is unwilling to pass judgement.
Circa 1977 - Yes, that is an etching of me done by the artist Alice Neel. I was the printer - an edition of 12. Google her, Alice was superstar.
The last etching that a friend of mine commissioned. It is actually finished now, but this is the most up to date image I have.

The light in my art lesson was actually amazing.
First period, and I was sat just at the right angle from the window to get some really beautiful light and not have it blocked by anything but the window frame :)
My etching is of a portion of a still life we worked on yesterday- some flowers in a wine bottle.

I find photo restoration is very challenging!
The original of these pictures were taken over 50 years ago by my late father who was also a very keen photographer. Unfortunately, original negatives were not well kept and most of his works were eaten up by termites!
Although I managed to restore a few of them, many still have lots of artifact! I decided and used photo etching technique to make them look more interesting.

- a monoprint and a 'monotype' is not the same thing. a monotype starts out as a single print.
- to call a piece a monoprint, indicates that there is no edition of the piece.
- there was no intention to make only one print of this piece. it just worked out that way. i think it was a time factor. if i had my own press...

Flickr note-
If you want to see alot of my finished work, it does not work to type 'don art' (without quotation marks) into the Search window. You get extra pages, that way.
But, "don art" - with the quotes- does work.

I did this in my printmaking class -- which sort of made me want to switch and study printmaking instead of painting. I didn't, but I still wish I did more printmaking. That's why I screenprint these days. I love the possibility of high-quality, detailed multiples that printmaking presents. Maybe I'll get lucky someday and a printing press will fall in my lap.
