A camera toss series. I hadn't done any of these in a long time and thought it good to revisit the bare essentials considering it was a camera I had not used for the technique yet. A single white LED provides the light source, exposures vary from .7sec to 2sec. What is produced is essentially an inverted physiogram (inverted in that it illustrates camera motion rather than subject motion) and can tell you alot about the movement possible with a given model of camera.
I also had been meaning to do this simplistic series for a while, because I feel achieving something aesthetically wonderful does not require an overly complicate light source, the beauty is ultimately due to the motion.
All images in this series are directly from my Kodak Easyshare 3.1mp camera, no hotoshop, no cropping or manipulation other than image rotation.

Downtown Victoria, BC, is a magnet for cycling traffic. A recent count project pegged demand in probably less than one square kilometre of mostly commercial, office and retail uses nearing 1300 bikes locked up in the public realm alone, not accounting for the many hundreds more who park their bikes out of sight (and out of the weather), in work places or parkades.
About 25% of those bikes parked used "informal" options (anything but a bike rack), where better choices were absent or full. The city is slowly adding racks to fill in the gaps and taking advantage of other development or streetscaping projects to find new locations for additional racks.
Functional and aesthetic bike parking is not just a "nice to do" project, but is essential to help downtown business diversify their markets by attracting people who choose cycling for transportation. For pedestrians and other sidewalk users (particularly those with sight impairments or using mobility aids), providing more bike parking is essential to eliminating safety hazards that are created when cyclists are obliged to use less satisfactory hardware. This is a photo of a spoon, a knife and a fork on a plate that has a small layer of water covering it. I have seen a photo similar to this one on flickr earlier in the year and I really liked the look of the water and the color of the fork. In my picture I went for a colorful background instead. I had a studio setup at home for this picture with one light shining from the left portion of the frames. I wanted to get some dark outlines in from the edges of the form and a very reflective look from the metal and glass. I am pleased with the outcome but next time I might try dropping the ISO and putting the camera on a tripod instead of hand holding it.

"John and Mary Jo Sgro have been supporters of Monroe County United Ministries (MCUM) since 2006. They support MCUM in variety of ways, from donating to fundraising auctions to contributing food to the Emergency Food Pantry. They travel quite a bit, but when they are in Bloomington, they can be counted on to volunteer in the pantry, sorting donations and keeping the shelves tidy. Mary Jo also volunteer at Opportunity House, MCUM's partner resale shop.
MCUM's Emergency Services Program, which includes the Emergency Food Pantry, provided basic needs assistance to 971 Monroe County households in 2012. That year, the pantry distributed 10,225 cleaning and hygiene items in addition to food. These successes would not be possible without the dedication of volunteers like John and Mary Jo."
