A fictional world, or is it?
Something different today, using the virtual world Second Life camera, I snapped 5 captures at different times of day, and sky settings. Using Photomatix, tonemapped them together and played around to give it a more realistic feel. Not that is was lacking that feel, but just my own twist on it.
Hiking on the Billy Goat Trail, one is offered some great vistas, but I cant help smiling bright as the sound of perpetual thunder comes from above as these guys fly overhead.

Day 25, the DSLR takes a rest day. Set out for a bike ride with the Cannondale Capo Singlespeed and my better half (she rides a Specialized Allez) . Not intending it to be a Photographic apex but a slice of life in the 365 day project, kinda like the slice of lime in my beer, keeps it fresh.
Fighting the Potomac current, and winning.
While perched up on the cliff, off the billy goat trail I watched as a Kayaker paddled up the Potomac river. 10min later I heard a loud yell from up the gorge, then some minutes later I noticed the green Kayak come down with out the paddler. Not seeing or hearing the kayaker I called it in, but luckily as I was speaking with 911, I noticed the paddler running up on the opposite bank, I pointed to the location of his Kayak notified the dispatcher all is well and watched as this paddler united with his Kayak, alls well that ends well just a tad cold.
It was such a nice warm day, almost summer like. Sun warm breeze, and a cold melon for lunch, Perfection. Capture a simple pleasure, and a color shift in the season. Tone mapped, HDR sun kissed mellon.
It was such a day, great fun with the kids and grandparents, then we stole away for a hike down the desolate south of the island shore for a couple of kidless hours. As we walked back, a rumble of thunder, it wasn't from the heavens, but from below...you could feel it in the soft warm sand, galloping horses on the dunes, now thats a 365 picture moment. I grabbed the point and shoot for this one, couldn't get my DSLR ready in time.
The 'Receiving of Shabbat" is a mystical ritual and tradition designed to welcome the Shabbat (Sabbath) which is the celebration of the act of completion of creation. We welcome the shabbat bride/queen called the Shekinah, meaning "dwelling" which is seen as an aspect of god representing his creative and nurturing nature, and she represents the dynamic forces that move throughout the universe. (she, as in feminine aspect, and Shekinah in hebrew is a feminine word, and one of the names of god) she can be compared in understanding to the Shakti of Indian philosophy and the Yin of Taoist belief.
(this is but a foot note and personal connection to my family tradition not meant as religious pov, but one of tradition and beauty I chose to share in this 365 project)
Kol Nidre is an Aramaic declaration recited in the synagogue before the beginning of the evening service on every Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Not wanting to incite a debate about religion or views, this verse has ben taking out of context at times in history but to me is a beauty which i try to express in a photo. Kol Nidre is a beautiful passage, one of musical, mystic, tradition and a childhood memory. If one is inclined to listen, I am attaching the you tube clip. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PopzXbvXmJ4

Funny when it comes to song about fathers and daughters I am all country.
While visiting from abroad my father-in-law introduced me to this fine Vincent Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka. He hit the spot! This is some freaking good vodka, I just have to remember its not a regular Espresso shot, this could be dangerous.
Tel Aviv's old port, renewed to a trendy hangout with coffee shops, clubs restaurants and upscale shopping coming to life as the sun sets on a quite Friday. It is here back in 91 where we would set out in small boats for early morning dives. Now a fave hangout on every visit.
Overcast photo shoot fun. The diffused gray light today was a good opportunity to try another car shot. This time on top of a parking garage.
3 shots tone mapped for this image.
Thanx to Sabrina and Nadege for the insight on Png images for the logo.
As for the Logo, No affiliation with BMW here, and no commercial intent with the use of the BMW logo, ... but it is a Fine Driving Machine. ;)
Lunch break at the Brookside Gardens.
Exploring this amazing place as first signs of spring are in bloom all around.
It was the new fresh green colors that truly excited me today, and the relaxing and tranquil time spent there.
It was snowing hard, I stood there trying not to move as this family of deer where looking for some vegetation for dinner in a storm. Sometimes moment find you, wet lens, low light, snow, outside having a blast!
Thank you Project 365.
Made a makeshift light box (hamper) and placed the cold beer inside. I then painted the beer with a flash light while shooting. will add a pic of the funky set up later.
Cheers! hope you enjoy
Another overcast gray day, with no contrast in the sky. Lining up the copic sketch markers in the sunroom where the natural defused gray daylight was an asset. BG10 cool shadow (the one in focus) is a new one, from time to time I will add one or two when the need for those colors arise.
Its that time of year, and looking at my watch its that time of night, just past midnight. About to start a New Year, as this one comes to an end next week. Now we gain light every day to champion over night. Side lit self portrait, half in light half in dark. Merry Christmas to all

"In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see

Couldn't have said it better.
Happy Face Down Tuesday, and Israel's Independence Day. Took a day off today, and headed out with my better half for a hike on the local Billy Goat Trail. Had to wait for some vultures to fly away before taking this shot, it was their perch after all.
They did circle above me there for a bit. Guess they didn't get the FDT memo yet.
HFDT :)
Walking up to the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem's old city. The girls had a blast walking the colorful market stone streets, hearing stories, languages, Shop owners haggling and tasting foods in those places the tourist seldom find, like Abu Kamel Restaurant hidden in a small side street next to the church of the Holy Sepulcher.
His Hummus and Labaneh are second to none,
Cold windy, freezing fingers trying to catch the days last rays, which have eluded me for the past days. HDR in effect, tone mapped long exposures, de saturated environment for the look.
When Life Throws You A Lemon, SHOOT IT!
Rainy day here, this was shot mid day near the window with minimal natural light and a flashlight, in my make shift Laundry Basket light box. I couldn't get the natural lemon color, so i had fun with a couple of shots, you can see them in my This & That set.
I slipped out of the cocktail party i was attending to explore this amazing building. The Broom Factory building is rich in its history, and is another urban renewal gem, merging historic eliminates with modern function and design. The building was constructed in Baltimore MD in 1910 and at the company's peak employed more than 300 and made more than 3.5 million brooms a year. This amazing space has become home to an eclectic mix of artists, woodworkers, and startup companies. The spaces have evolved over the years to include non-profits, attorneys, design studios, technology consultants and other professional service companies.
Lock 21 on the C&O Canal is known as Swains lock. The Swain family has lived and worked at Lockhouse 21 since the early 1900s until about 3 years ago. Swain family members began working on the original construction of the canal and also worked as boatmen and lock tenders, operating Swain’s Lock at mile 16.6.
Hand held bracketed shots for this HDR
Having fun with the overcast day, its like living in a light box. I was going for a cinematic vintage look, I got some shots I was happy with, and chose this one for this set.
Took my family to the Kunzang Palyul Choling (KPC) Maryland temple to end the day in beautiful place. I shot some pictures, meditated for a bit, but this shot of total devotion and intention to become enlightened for the sake of all sentient beings caught my eye.

"You press the button, we do the rest."
In 1888, an inventor named George Eastman designed, manufactured, and marketed a camera that changed not only photography, but consumer products—forever. Pull the Cord (to prepare the shutter), Turn the Key (to advance the film), and Press the Button (to release the shutter). After 100 exposures were used, you sent the camera (or just the film roll) into Eastman, waited a while, and had your film professionally developed and printed for you. This level of accessibility began the consumer revolution in photography, and made Kodak not only a product, but a service, and the camera now a point of entry into this service.
This No.2 Brownie Camera is a Model D, Made by the Eastman Kodak Company some time around 1914-1920, It was passed down to me by my Grandfather who as a young man in NY at the time must have shot some cool snapshots with this Brownie Camera.
I shot this, on the white tile floor in my sunroom, and exposed it to blow out the bright white tile.
