...The mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.

Heading out from Catoctin Mountain National Park we hiked up to Cunningham Falls. It was mid day when we got there, so while the kids where having lunch I slipped off into the shadows to capture this shot from one of the upper pools.

Camera on tripod, Cokin filters (2) bracketed 3 shots for this HDR of the falls.

A week later creating Part two to the "Free Fall" for the 10th FDT. The moment of impact came suddenly.

Happy Face Down Tuesday to all.

Embracing my inner Pirate

Had a chance to try Heavy Seas beer brewed by Baltimore’s Clipper City Brewing Co.

I set sail for this shoot wanting to give a feel of a small captains cabin off at sea.

Yo Ho, a Pirate's Life for Me.

After the rain, came the quite. I walked down to the water, which Just moments ago was covered in raindrops, and now, frozen in total stillness.

Spent the afternoon with a couple of good friends working under the Jeep. Good times, but nothing like a cold refreshing beer handed to you at the right time. Cheers!

Nighttime, Fire, cold beer and good company. Smoke rises as we sit around a small fire in the back yard looking at the glowing embers. it is amazing to me how captivating and relaxing a fire can be, and how central it is to who we are.

Happy Face Down Tuesday :)

Time to get back into a workout routine, after I do my FDT that is.

Lighting lights, The 3rd night of the festival of light. "During all eight days of Hanukkah these lights are sacred, and we are not permitted to make ordinary use of them except for to look at them in order to express thanks and praise to Your great Name for Your miracles, Your wonders and Your salvations."

Enjoying the wine on the deck after doing a wine/glass shot, I couldn't resist the bokeh temptation. Here is the 24-105 Canon EF L Lens bathing in sweet friday evening light.

Enjoy your weekend :)

Enhanced interrogation techniques photo shoot.

Minimal direct light (hanging lamp) and hands on technique.

Fall is coming to an end here, as the sun sets, the color is slowly washed away.

I challenged myself to a duel of chess, I was both the winner and the defeated. It all comes down to your point of view and depth of field. The fall of the king brought on the shadow of night, and the end of the shoot.

View On White Spring is here, and I am back on the Tennis court. It was a perfect day for a mid day friendly match.

Flowers are starting to bloom and the light is back.

Standing on a hill top watching a storm roll in. The swift change of the air, and suddenly the air is sucked towards the brewing storm, then the iPhone beeps, Tornado Warning!

Perfect for HDR playtime. 3 shots hand held tonemapped.

Day 3 of Project 365

Namesake (sometimes "name's sake") is a term used to characterize a person, place, thing, quality, action, state, or idea that is called after, or named out of regard to, another.

Espresso for me is all of the above.

Got my first Moleskine sketchbook today, and headed out to Seneca park to enjoy the last rays of sun. The light was fantastic, and got a nice sunset, but this was the moment of my day, sketching my camera with cold hands, and having a blast.

Inspired in part by Katrin Ray's Magic Brush, if you haven't seen her stream you should.

Late night scotch, explaining why I need strobes. I must admit this project 365 has me talking to myself, at times... if i would only listen.

May your glass be full of light, always. Cheers.
