Title: Scales, equal arm

Description: Scales set. This is a set of equal arm beam scales. In the centre is a brass upright stand , which screws into a wooden base. The brass stand has a 'turned' centre and top. It has a curved projecting arm to hold the balance arms via a bracket. The arms have a needle dial at the centre to gauge the weight being measured. The proper left arm holds a rigid shaft which holds a tray support. The proper right arm suspends a weighing tray which is connected to the arms with three chains.

markings:

On the arms reads: "W & T AVERY LTD. MAKERS. BIRMINGHAM: 10 WEIGH-41B"

On the central bracket reads: "CLASS L"
