Being different shouldn't be treated as something wrong or bad. Nor should we be afraid of it. It's not a decease or a fault. It's natural. We 're all different in so many ways, yet we are all humans, right? And in what a contradiction this leads us to...
Yet being different is not wrong. It can be a good thing like a trait of a leader for example. Or it can be an embracing to change. It can signal a transition. Like the first yellow leaf among its green siblings in the end of a summer, signals Autumn's impending arrival. A change of season. A transition or a transitional period.
Same can be said for us. We are born as babies and become children. Then we stop being children and become teens. And later on we grow to adults. Those are transitions and most often than not, signs are there. You can see it happen if you know what to look for. Like that first yellow leaf I was talking about before. Yet we all were babies and then children and then teens and then adults right? So in a way we are all the same...? And again, how is that for a contradiction? But if we focus on contradiction, we are missing the point. We are missing the transition, the change that will happen with or without our acknowledgement anyway.
We are missing life on the making. Cause in the end of the day, being different is part of life itself. And life never asks for our permission or acceptance. It just... happens. Like John Lennon said once, “Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans”. So, if by now you are thinking, how can we be the same yet different from each other and what life, leaves or Lennon have to do with it, I wouldn't blame you. Most probably, I'm to blame, confusing you with words. But here's the thing. There is one big (and I mean really big), small distinction that may help you understand where I'm going with this.
There is Same and then there is Similar and there is Equal. Same is not Similar nor Equal. There is no difference in Same. It cannot exist in that realm. Never could or ever will. If it could, then Same would not be, by definition. But there can be a great deal of difference in Similar and Equal. That's the key. No one can be different if we are all the same. But we are not the same. No one is the exact same like someone else. Similar maybe, but not Same. But all else aside, we all are born as equals. And that's why we can be different from each other.

Photo choice for the theme " "SQUARES" (a square is a 2D closed geometric shape with four equal-length sides and four 90-degree right angles) in the group "Looking close... on Friday!" on 14th of August 2026. It could seem that is not a macro shot, but in fact, this little scene is made up entirely of 1:12 size miniatures. For example, the dice is a 3-millimeter wooden cube.
Dans mon Petit Manoir Tudor, on ne s’ennuie pas et on aime particulièrement les jeux de société dont Des Serpents et échelles. Pourquoi pas une petite partie, bien installés dans le salon de la maison.
J’ai moi-même créé ce jeu à partir des images vintages d’un jeu des années 1890 trouvées sur le web, autant pour le couvercle de la boîte, avec les instructions, que pour le plateau de jeu. Il s’agit d’une version créée par la compagnie J. W. Spear and Sons fondée en 1879, à Nuremberg. J’ai fabriqué la boîte (5,5 cm par 2,5 cm) à partir d’un modèle gratuit à imprimer trouvé sur Pinterest et j’ai ajouté un petit compartiment pour mettre le dé et les pions que j’ai aussi créés avec du bois, pour le dé (3mm de côté), et des bouts de cure-dents de fantaisie, pour les pions. J’ai donné au plateau le format de pliage standard en 2.
Serpents et échelles ou le jeu de l'échelle est un jeu de société populaire consistant à déplacer les jetons sur un tableau de cases avec un dé en espérant monter les échelles et éviter de trébucher sur les serpents. On pense que l'origine du jeu est moksha-patamu, un ancien jeu hindou remontant au 2e siècle av. J.-C., créé par des enseignants hindous spirituels, où les serpents et échelles sont des symboles pour la moralité et spiritualité de la vie. Le jeu est une représentation d'un chemin spirituel que les humains prennent pour atteindre le ciel. Avec des bonnes actions, le chemin est raccourci (ce que symbolisent les échelles), tandis qu'avec des mauvaises actions, le chemin est allongé (ce que symbolisent les serpents). Les différentes cultures ont perçu dans le jeu une valeur éducative et spirituelle, la raison commune pour laquelle ce jeu est surtout présenté aux enfants et adolescents. Le jeu été adapté et commercialisé par le Britannique John Jaques II (de l'entreprise Jaques of London) en 1892. Le jeu après avoir traversé trois continents, s'était ainsi débarrassé de la majeure partie de sa théologie et était devenu un incontournable des chambres d'enfants britanniques.

In my Little Tudor Manor, we're never bored, and we particularly love board games, including Snakes and Ladders. Why not a small game comfortably set up in the living room of the house?
I created this game myself, using vintage images of an 1890 version found online, both for the box lid, with instructions, and the game board. This is a version created by the company J. W. Spear and Sons, founded in 1879 in Nuremberg. I made the box (5.5 cm by 2.5 cm) from a free printable template found on Pinterest, and I added a small compartment for the dice and playing pieces, which I also made myself. The dice is 3mm square, and the playing pieces are made from decorative toothpicks. I folded the board in half to fit the standard format.
Snakes and Ladders, or the game of ladders, is a popular board game where you move tokens around a grid of squares using a die, hoping to climb the ladders and avoid tripping over the snakes. The game is believed to have originated from Moksha-Patamu, an ancient Hindu game dating back to the 2nd century BC, created by Hindu spiritual teachers, where snakes and ladders symbolize morality and spirituality. The game represents a spiritual path humans take to reach heaven. Good deeds shorten the path (symbolized by the ladders), while bad deeds lengthen it (symbolized by the snakes). Different cultures have perceived educational and spiritual value in the game, which is why it is often presented to children and teenagers. The game was adapted and commercialized by the British businessman John Jaques II (of the Jaques of London company) in 1892. Having traveled across three continents, the game had shed most of its theological aspects and become a staple in British children's bedrooms.

Ibises are a group of long-legged wading birds in the family Threskiornithidae, that inhabit wetlands, forests and plains. I've never seen a lily pad standing upright, demanding equal time with the lily. After two and a half months, the San Diego Botanical Garden has re-opened by appointment, with all new restrictions, one-way paths and the like. Seems this pad was seeking their own recognition, in their own beauty and symetry.
