I've never seen a lily pad standing upright, demanding equal time with the lily. After two and a half months, the San Diego Botanical Garden has re-opened by appointment, with all new restrictions, one-way paths and the like. Seems this pad was seeking their own recognition, in their own beauty and symetry.

LOCATION CHALLENGE : Photographers that choose to participate in the challenge can come over to my parcel, Noshinima's Neighborhood and do an image anywhere in my city. You will be allowed two hours to use any posestands or props that you would like to add and are allowed to bring any friends you want to join you in your shoot. You are also allowed to make the shoot as safe or as adult as you like. The only rule is that you do the shoot within the city block. Take your time to have a look around to see where in the block would make a great place for your image.

A lone stalk of Queen Anne's lace faces down an impending summer thunderstorm. I love the high level of energy exuded by storms as they approach. The transformation of sky and cloud, the cool and gusty outflow winds, and distant thunder and lightning enthrall me. I stay outdoors until the last possible second before the downpour begins. I often misjudge the moment and get caught bicycling home soaking wet. The prospects of this happening only add to the drama. On this evening I was taken by the sheer delicacy of the flower, swaying about madly in the blustery wind, against a backdrop of growing menace in the sky. It's that flexibility that allows them to withstand the onslaught. A wonderful visual dichotomy as well as a life lesson all rolled into one. Perfect fare for a sultry evening in late July.

Sleipner is Odin’s gray, powerful, eight-legged horse in Nordic mythology. Here we see a cow with similar characteristics.

Azure Damselfly:-
Damselflies are insects in the sub-order Zygoptera (meaning "paired-wings"). All four wings are near enough equal in size and shape. They are usually small, weakly flying insects that stay close to the water margins or water surface. When at rest, most species hold their wings along the length of their abdomen. The Emerald Damselflies are an exception and usually hold their wings partly open when at rest. They are therefore known as Spreadwings in North America. The eyes are always separated, never touching. The larvae have external plates (lamellae) at the end of the abdomen, which act as accessory gills.
In Great Britain and Ireland there are about 20 species that may be encountered and a few that are now extinct. These species fall into 4 families and 9 genera. A partial taxonomic "tree" for the damselflies is shown below.

A part of Soll LeWit's Wall Drawing number 373: Lines in Four Directions (equal spacing on an unequal wall) covers the iconic grand staircase of The Kunstmuseum Den Haag (Formerly the Gemeente museum (Municipal Art museum, (1935 H.P. Berlage).
Shown here is not the entire Le Witt graphic. The museum states the following about him and the giant Wall drawing:
Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) is one of the founders of conceptual art and American Minimal Art. Minimal art aims to establish a relationship with the immediate environment using the simplest possible means. In doing so, the artist prefers to use simple, possibly found materials. LeWitt's wall drawings and sculptures are world-famous, as is his radical view that an idea for a work of art is more important than its execution. For example, he designs his wall drawings himself but has them executed by a team of assistants. In the 1960s, this conceptual thinking was a direct break with the past and an attack on the age-old principle of the artist as an individual genius.
In 1983, the museum acquired Wall drawing no. 373 by LeWitt. The drawing consists of parallel black and grey stripes. The diagonal and vertical lines run in four different directions and emphasize the height of the staircase in the Berlage building. In the spirit of conceptual art, LeWitt draws a diagram with instructions and leaves the execution to his assistants. Not the artist but his team travels to the destination to create the wall drawing: comparable to an architect who never actually executes a building himself. LeWitt created the design after receiving the technical specifications of the wall where his artwork was to be placed, along with photos and floor plans. He relies entirely on his team for the execution.
The artist also makes a certificate for the buyer of the work in which he records the idea for the drawing. This makes it possible to re-execute the drawing later. If the wall drawing itself disappears, for example, through overpainting, the artwork still exists as an idea on paper. This wall drawing was restored in 2000 after it had been painted over during the renovation of the building. In gratitude for the restoration, the artist donated a new series of wall drawings to the museum.
Sol LeWitt and the Kunstmuseum have a long history together. In 1968, the museum organized the first Minimal Art exhibition in Europe. Two years later, LeWitt's first solo museum exhibition in Europe followed. Since then, various works by the artist have been added to the museum collection. Examples include the five geometric shapes on the façade of KM21 and the murals in the hall of the Kunstmuseum.

A pair of twice-stabbed stink bugs (Cosmopepla lintneriana) in full propogational stance. Stink bugs are true bugs, and plant feeders, they inject enzymes into plants to break down the plant tissues, then suck up their nutrition. They get their common name from the foul-smelling odour they exude when distrubed. They are also quite shy, as you quickly find out when trying to nab a photo of them — un-baited, live, in-situ, undisturbed, and unharmed. A two-image, handheld focus stack.
