Miniature Poodle. The poodle parade at Carmel-by-the-Sea, California is an annual event in October. Proceeds go to a poodle rescue organization. This one had 525 entries and at least an equal number of people, most with their dogs, viewing the parade. It seemed like a majority of parade entrants had more than one poodle or poodle-mix. For dog lovers, like me and my wife, it is tremendous fun and so many laughs. Add the thrill of innumerable photographic subjects, it is something we really enjoy.

Looks like Old Man Winter decided to take another kick at the can on the first day of Spring. We didn't get a whole lot of snow, but it sure doesn't look like Spring out there.
The Fort of Sant'Andrea in Venice is a fortress built in the middle of '500 on the ruins of previous defensive works now in ruins, part of the defensive system of the Venice lagoon.
The work was designed by architect Michele Sanmicheli Verona (1484-1559), commissioned by the Venetian government to safeguard access by considered more dangerous sea, barring the way, with the artillery, a possible enemy fleet.
The fort is located on the homonymous island of St. Andrew (which is located at the island of Vignole) and consists of a main building, built on the remains of the original fifteenth-century tower, and an outer rampart behind which the batteries were placed. The openings in the bastion, rectangular, almost at water were placed to sweep the horizon with the shot and hit as close as possible to the water line of the enemy vessels.
From a formal point of view the structure is interesting as a whole but the part most architecturally pleasing is the front where they open the central door and two side arches of equal measure. On the front of the tower there is a plaque commemorating the Battle of Lepanto topped by a relief of the lion of St. Mark. On top of the tower there is a terrace where the floor suggests the water collection function, conveyed in a central opening. On the side facing the sea there is an interesting bearer or bearer in Istrian stone.

Dean Clough is approximately two and a half miles long and divided into three distinct and roughly equal sections. The upper valley is occupied by the reservoir in the middle section the stream flows through farm land and the lower valley is covered by the trees of Dean Wood.
In 1879 the stream that ran through this valley was dammed forming reservoirs at the western end to provide water for Great Harwood, the loss of land and farming restrictions meant some of the farms established for 100 years were abandoned.

Originally built by my father and mother in law and given to me. I have re-painted and added many new things. Scale is 1:12 One inch equals one foot. More pics to follow (gradually) of the other rooms and the exterior, which has an attached greenhouse. My mother in law called the greenhouse Cathy's Flower Shop.

Roan Mountain is the highpoint of the Roan-Unaka Range of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, located in the Southeastern United States. The mountain is clad in a dense stand of Southern Appalachian spruce-fir forest, and includes the world's largest natural rhododendron garden, and the longest stretch of grassy bald in the Appalachian range. The Cherokee National Forest and Pisgah National Forest converge atop the mountain, with Roan Mountain State Park located near its northern base. The Appalachian Trail crosses most of the Roan's crest. The Roan High Knob Shelter is the highest backcountry shelter on the entire 2,174-mile (3,499 km) trail. Roan Mountain comprises the greater part of the Roan Highlands, a 20-mile (32 km) massif stretching from Big Rock Creek in the west to U.S. Route 19 in the east. Most of this massif lies along the Tennessee-North Carolina border, between Carter County and Mitchell County. Yellow Mountain and Hump Mountain, on the northern tip of the massif, are part of the Roan Highlands but are generally not considered part of Roan Mountain proper. Roan Mountain contains five mountain peaks, and is roughly divided into two sections by Carver's Gap. The first section — composed of Roan High Bluff and Roan High Knob — lies west of Carver's Gap and is characterized by a thick coniferous forest. This part of Roan is shaped something like the body of a double-humped camel, with the "humps" being High Bluff and High Knob. Tollhouse Gap lies between the two peaks, and contains the Rhododendron Gardens, the largest of its kind in the world. The second section of Roan Mountain — known as Grassy Ridge — is east of Carver's Gap, and is the longest stretch (appx. 7 miles) of grassy bald in the Appalachian Mountains. A grassy bald is a type of highland meadow characterized by thick grass and sparse tree coverage. The three peaks atop Grassy Ridge are Round Bald, Jane Bald, and Grassy Ridge Bald. The bald area spans the summits of all three, covering an area roughly equal to 1,000 acres (4.0 km2). The Appalachian Trail, after traversing Iron Mountain to the west, crosses Hughes Gap and ascends Roan's northern slope to Tollhouse Gap. From there, it makes a sharp turn to the east, crossing Roan High Knob, Carver's Gap, Grassy Ridge, and Yellow and Hump Mountains before descending to US-19 and the White Rocks Mountain area. From the slopes of Old Black in the Great Smoky Mountains, some 150 miles (240 km) to the south, to Mount Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, some 1,500 miles (2,400 km) to the north, Roan Mountain is the only area where the trail rises above the 6,000-foot (1,800 m) mark.
