I showed a photo of a Mallard Drake...with a full display of feathers. Here is his mate, preening. They had been in the lake doing what ducks do each spring. They then came up on the shore for some sun and relaxation.

The city is a village. At some point, the village has become a city, and neither the people nor the village know why. The village is located at a hill by the sea. At night you can hear drunks, waves, couples and frogs.

From a distance, they see flickering lights. Children with flashlights send signals to the hill. She takes off her reading glasses to catch the sunlight for a response. From a distance, they hear the astonished little voices and the flickering becomes stronger.
Now he also takes off his reading glasses. Because that way I can see better, he says.

Here's a photo of a female House finch on the stalk of a thalia. Some of the smaller birds seem shy about getting in the pond's stream while larger birds are there, so they hang out on the periphery and wait their turn.
