Love these old vw's - had an 1964 one myself many years ago - kept breaking down however as it is the happiest and friendliest car on the road , it was all good - Everybody smiled and waved at me when I drove it. I smiled and waved at the guy in his car too - will post another photo in colour in a couple of moments.

I ordered salty pancake with ham and cheese. This tasted similar to lasagne, but made with pancake, ham and cheese sauce. It tasted great.

The film “Made in Dagenham” is the inspiration for this photo.
A comedy drama set in 1968, the film dramatises the sewing machinists strike at Ford’s Dagenham car plant in Essex, UK. The female sewing machinists, who made car seat covers, walked out on strike protesting against sexual discrimination and demanding equal pay. The film follows the women and their campaign which led eventually to the 1970 Equal Pay Act.
For the photo I’ve used a close up of a sewing machine foot and threaded needle to illustrate the following themes and concepts in the film:
Applying pressure: A sewing machine foot is used to apply pressure to the fabric to stop it from slipping around while being sewn. The female workers were under pressure from their families, management and social norms not to go out on strike but to accept things as they were. In turn the machinists were applying pressure on Ford management and the UK government to introduce changes.
The foot also represents the fact that the women 'walked' out on strike.
Making their point: The needle represents the point that the women wanted to make and their intention to drive it home through the very fabric of society.
The thread represents the growing number of supporters who are drawn in, persuaded by the women's clear aims.
I chose a late 1960s inspired floral fabric because the film was set in 1968 and women’s fashion is a recurring theme in the film.
I set the photo at an angle to give a more dynamic feel and to give the impression of a vehicle (Ford / the Government) getting ready to turn a corner and take a new direction ( a change in the law).
The photo measures 6 cm across.
St. Stephen's Basilica is a Roman Catholic basilica in Budapest, Hungary. It is named in honour of Stephen, the first King of Hungary (c 975–1038). This is the most important church building in Hungary, one of the most significant tourist attractions, the third highest church in Hungary and the largest church in Budapest, it can hold up to 8,500 people.
St. Stephen's Basilica is a equal with the Hungarian Parliament Building, it is one of the two tallest buildings in Budapest at 96 metres (315 ft) - this equation symbolises that worldly and spiritual thinking have the same importance. It has a width of 55 metres (180 ft), and length of 87.4 metres (287 ft). It was completed in 1905 after 54 years of construction, according to the plans of Miklós Ybl, and was completed by József Kauser.
Originally designed in neo-classical style, the Basilica was finished in neo-renaissance style. The façade is anchored by two large bell towers. In the southern tower is Hungary's biggest bell, weighing over 9 tonnes. Visitors may access the dome by elevators or by climbing 364 stairs for a 360° view overlooking Budapest.
The Saint Stephen Basilica has played an active role in the musical community since its consecration in 1905. The head organists of the church have always been very highly regarded musicians. In the past century the Basilica has been home to choral music, classical music as well as contemporary musical performances. The Basilica choir performs often in different parts of Europe as well as at home. In the summer months they perform every Sunday. During these months you can see performances from many distinguished Hungarian and foreign organ players alike.

I spotted this symmetrical display of pots and vases at the entrance of a garden centre. If there had been another leaf to the left, it would have been (nearly) perfect. The pebble arrangement is a bit off-centre too. Ah, well… ;-)
